I have at least 4 convict cichlids breeding couples( maybe more) Each set has delivered within a month of each other. I have at least 600 small fish.

​@@TheInsightDistrict my white cichlid is mouth bulged up but she is just stopping to move and sometimes completely still like dead...and I checked water parameters like pH TDS etc. All are fine also gave aquarium salt and microlife S2 and the water is new and tank is clean too gave her some fun rot and inflammation medicine too but still it looks like she will not survive....any suggestions?

I have the same exact fish lol its holding eggs for sure after seeing your videos!! How can i protect the mother an the baby fish when they are born or should i placed her in a solitary tank??

Thanks for the video. I'm a fish tank newbie and purchased what I was told two male cichlids for my 21L tank. I've realised after about 3 weeks of having them that the larger of the two definitely has fry in her mouth. I'm not interested in breeding and feel a bit nervous about stripping them from their Mother. Can I just leave her alone and wait until she spits them out herself?

yup, you can just leave them. if your not interested in breeding just let nature take its course

Im new to this whole cichlid thing.. What kind of frye bubbler do you recommend? How will I know its time to put them in the tube versus stay in mommys mouth? Thanks for the help.

The earlier you can get them into a bubbler, the higher success rate you will have of getting more fry. Have a look on ebay and see what type is going to work best for your needs , hope this information helps

Will the mother be fine in a quarantine tank by herself? I have johhoni African cichlid by herself in a 10 gallon tank holding fry.

How to access the tumbler ??

Big time fish person here. This is a certain breed of cichlid fish. The mother fish does lay the eggs, the father fish does go along and fertilize the eggs, the mother then goes back and collects the eggs into her mouth until the eggs hatch and even the baby fish become big enough to swim. This is how most cichlid moms protect their young from the other tank mates. I've had many different egg laying fish and live bearing fish. Baby fish are so cute. Also risk to be eaten immediately by tank mates or even with some fish by their own mother fish - as the mother fish thinks it is her way of still protecting her babies. I've had babies born and gulp, gone just like that. I don't like that. It is however nature of fish.

Thank you I have been wanting to know what the female cichlid in my tank that keeps mating and now I know, Lombarti! I found a .5" baby under a rock and I want to be ready when she reproducing again.

Convict cichlid it's the same?

Hi there! I am new to any fish breeding. Although I did not expect it, I do believe it has happened. I am willing to let nature take its course, but I want to make sure that I am correct in what I am observing. My convict Cichlid has that yellow/orange hue in her belly and has gotten bigger of course in the abdomen area. Does that mean she is actually carrying eggs?

May mean she is sick. I’d take her to a shop. The have meds to help.

you should be able to, and you can feed the fry the same as other fish when they have finished eating there egg sack

How does one strip the fry from the mother?

depends on the fish and when they reach a mature age to breed

Males usually turn yellow when they mature, and the females stay blue. I hope this helps
