Oh dear, ZG will now fuss about the prong collar. 🙄 Thank you for reinforcing the training I already know but need to practice practice practice more often. (All the time) I’ll be interested in ZG again if he quits whining about other trainers and can show equal or better results.

My Cane Corso is halfway through proofing with distractions. She down/stays at the park even when dogs come up and sniff her, she ignores them - she's watching me. I can't get her to down/stay when someone comes to the door. This is going against her entire nature as a guard dog, it's the peak distraction for her, and we still have a lot of work to do to get there!!

The Barbie dream car killed me 😂😂 totally unexpected You're right. The teaching down part is piece of cake, usually doesn't need longer than 1 or 2 days and that's where most people stop. I always increase the durstion and distraction gradually right away when they are still puppies and never let them stand up until they are mentally calm. That way they learn that down stay means peace and zero action, it also helps tons with impulse control.

DD Your dogs are so gorgeous, your dogs do have fun & are clearly treated with love. No amount of training could hide a mistreated animal ,especially dogs. In the world your dogs embody happiness, feeling safe, and confidence in themselves as well as with You leading them.💗🐶 Keep Up the Amazing Work You were Truly Meant For!. Ppl that hate project themselves onto others showing their true character, their own insecurities or both. Dont let their negativity cloud ur skies. Dark clouds come & Go But the sky always remains beautiful with & without them.

FIRST and most IMPORTANT!!!.... I am a huge DD fan. He has skills in working with aggressive dogs that I don't have. BUT..... I have to disagree with something in this video. You should NEVER, EVER teach a dog a down from a sit position. WhY? you may ask... Because a down from a sit is a completely different motion than a down from a stand. So, why is that important? If a dog goes from a sit to a down, it is a forward motion. If a dog is taught properly to do a down from a stand it is a backward motion.... Again... why is this important you may ask. Here's why.... Let's say that your dog is chasing prey and about to run into traffic. If they have been taught to go to a down in a forward motion, it may end up with a forward crawl into a down extending the forward movement into a dangerous situation by several yards. If they have been taught a backward motion down, they will put on the brakes and stop immediately in a much safer manner. All of that to say.... I wish I knew 10% of what DD knows with modifying behavior and solving aggression. I greatly admire his skills.

I mean really it comes down to just work with the dogs. Most people want this but refuse to put the time in. You're doing brilliantly! My goal this summer is to completely desensitize my dog to the sound of the pool, splashing, and children screaming. Typically going to be around 1hr of working with her. We just did day 2 of it and she is already doing so much better! Day 1 of requesting: please show us a beginner's heel tutorial and loose leash walking tutorial in your methods starting from not understanding heel and loose leash walking at all! Also... THANK YOU for posting such in depth videos on how to communicate with the dogs. I love to see these kinds of videos. It really makes my day, builds my own confidence that I'm doing the right thing, and my dog is much safer for it.

My guy even learned the leash used for training and competition was different than the leash we used for walking. The retractable leash was used for being around areas where people might be but he had the freedom to be a dog and sniff and go ahead or even lag behind but when someone came into view then he was right with me. They know and they can learn those kinds of difference. Plus one thing I learned, there was a bond that develops with training with training your dog you can't get any other way. And it's very special. Most people think you have to spend hours and hours a day but the truth is it's only a few minutes and if you work with a puppy it's even less. I never worked more than at the most 20 minutes a day. But it was almost every day. We did a lot of obedience competition. He had a bunch of titles. Excellent, excellent dog. I learned you have to train the trainer (owner).

Hi Dog Daddy I love seeing your dogs running around having fun too. Beautifully trained and much loved. Our husky is getting better on leash, but I can let her off leash only in fenced areas, and even then only around big calm dogs. The bigger the better, she loves great danes and 99% of huskies she has met. She's not so beautifully trained (by me), but still much loved.

Thank you for all you do for dogs and people. My dog's weaknesses are eople...she loves everyone. Elk, deer, chickens and goats😬 I've been using a prong collar... She's a 60lbs, 7 month old husky X... Her attention span is that of a squirrel... She's doing better, but I am seriously thinking about some of the E-collars. Dogs get killed where I live by chasing elk. I never...never take her off the leash, ...we have mountain lions too, but my fear is her getting out of the fence and going after elk...
