How to Teach Your Cat to Jump Through a Hoop!
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Maine Coon cat Buster is a master at jumping through a hoop. In this video you will find out how you can teach your cat to do this fun trick by just following a couple of steps!
Keep in mind that training your cat can take a long time, so don't get discouraged if your cat doesn't get it right away. It took several weeks even for Buster.

I sure enjoy the videos with Buster learning his new tricks. However, I do love all the felines in the family ❤❤❤❤
Buster has such an expressive little face! When he gets it it really lights up!
I have been following this tutorial! Day 1- Cat trys to negotiate. Started attacking hoop. Will proceed

You're welcome 😸
Greg scrunches up his face when he eats his treats. It’s hilarious. Atticus, just puts the treat in his mouth and eats.
Super competitive Buster OK a ten and then his reward good boy. Kisses Sverige 💗💗😺😺💗💗💞💞
Great video lesson! And the student is talented!
Such a pretty kitty! 😍
It is Buster - so of course he is to good at this 😻❤️😻 but so nice to see you did work together 😻❤️😻
What a clever fellow Buster is 😻 It's sort of like me but in reverse, my cat Trouble has me fully trained as well, to provide and anticipate his every need and open doors or wait up if he's having a night out on the town 😂😂😂😂😂😂

Treats are always good to have at hand when dealing with domestic animals, whether it’s a dog, a cat, a horse, a rabbit or whatever. 😊❤🐈

@@Maine_Coon_Adventures I see you use "Dreamies." In the US they are called Temptations. I buy them in huge jars. I don't know what they put in these things but cats universally love them. I wonder if you ever saw the Dreamies/Temptations Christmas video from a few years ago where the cats took down a tree and a roomful of decorations? It was an incredible video. I never get tired of watching it, like I never get tired of watching your awesome videos! Thanks for all the smiles!
Quanto è bello buster 😼😼😼😼

That sounds like fun! 😸
Buster is always so cute! Thank you for the video, I guess I am doing it right, I was just being impatient before, lol. We're currently working on double high fives and pushing a baby walker, my boy will quite often do the double high five now but my girl isn't convinced, meanwhile she'll walk a couple of steps if I move the walker but he just elongates his body as if he's in a cartoon and then hops down when the cart gets too far away!

It was from your request and I like how the video turned out, so thank you! Yes, the most important thing is patience. It is common that there is like no progress at all for a week, and then suddenly they complete the entire step in one try. So don't give up! Pushing a baby walker sounds super fun 😹 I will definitely try teaching them to do that. It would make some really fun videos.

@@Maine_Coon_Adventures Thanks! Good luck on your future training, I'd love to see Buster and Luna push a walker. We screwed the wheels in quite tightly on ours so it didn't run away with them, might take a long time before they can walk with it without me keeping a hand in front, though, and may need to weigh it down! If you've seen the cat school clicker training channel in I think it was an introduction video; there's a quick clip of Jones pushing a walker, which is where I got the idea.

@@lr5612 I'll check that out, thanks!
Nice training video, very well done! I trained some neighbours cats (and my neighbours, too) for a leash and walking side-by-side or just follow owner. This can take some weeks or months, and if you fail, you have to start over from the beginning. Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Bengal, Siam and some Sphynx are much easier to train than normal house cats, EKH, BKH and others. Honestly, most times the owners were harder to train than their cats! Not enough patience, once i called one cat owner a knucklehead who better should get a plushie than a living soul. His cat learned good, but this owner ruined all my training efforts at every try with his cat in just 2 minutes ☹ My cats never got some training for tricks, just using the litter box and waiting with patience for their meals. But i played a lot with them, some were really good goalkeepers. Specially Tom was obsessed with his playballs and playing fetch. Had to teach him to eat slower, his first full meal he wolfed down without chewing in less than 1 minute and then he got plaintive, later he puked all out. Trained him with a spoon, he tried to get the can with his wet food but i put it away for a few seconds every time he tried. Took him a few days to learn that eating with patience and chewing is far better for him. He even watched me eating and maybe he learned from watching, too. He was starving as he adopted me, he had only around 5 kg, later he was at 6,5 kg and this was the perfect weight for him. He was bones, skin, strong muscles and much love. The bloopers are really funny 😹 cats always find their own way to do something.

Cats can learn a lot more things than people think. But as you say it depends on how the owner acts. Patience and persistance are the keys to teaching cats 😸

@@Maine_Coon_Adventures Pretty right! After i purchased a few playballs for cats, Tom was like "what the heck is this, it smells ugly". Then i threw one ball onto a wall and catched it, now he was interested. After 4 or 5 throws, he tried to catch the ball, some tries later he was successful, got complimented and some treats, and after this few minutes one of the balls became his favourite. When we went outdoors, i had to carry him into a wicker basket because he never wanted to see or be seen by all the loud people around. When it was time to go, he always had placed his ball into the basket, he never forgot it. If he went up on his cat tree, he always took his ball up there. When he came down, he had his ball in his mouth to place it somewhere. Some nights he placed this ball into our bed, he always slept cuddled close to me. I`m sure he never had a playball before, and he was 15 years old! Even an adult cat, he loved to play like a young kitten. My former feral cat Maya sometimes played a little with table tennis balls, but her kitten loved them very much. They could hunt them for some hours, kicking them everywhere. Tom disliked them, too loud i bet, and too hard to get taken in the mouth. So i asked in the local pet store and they had playballs for cats, bouncing like flummies, with stable cloth around, soft and very stable. He made of of them his favourite and took it everywhere, he was really obsessed with it.
Thank you so much for making this video. It’s PURRFECT!! I can’t wait to start with Briggs, my 8 month old. Where did you get that hoop?

I'm glad you liked it! I got the hoop from some kind of crafting/DIY store in Sweden. Maybe they have some hoops for dogs in pet stores that are suitable? But you can use pretty much any obstacle you want. It also works to just use your arm.
