One of my favourite fisheries, been fishing there 20+yrs & watched the Carp grow. My PB from there is 22lbs 5ozs Mirror. Fought like stink for 15+mins. I caught it from 3rd peg on lake, as you approach the island in the shallow water. Brilliant little fishery. As you like your silver fishing, there are some cracking Roach in there that can be caught in Autumn/Winter, go up to 2lbs & plenty of them. 👍🏻🎣

using the drag to tire the fish is ok if there are no obstacles, if they head for the reed every single time you have to risk getting the line broken without (much) drag. I also experienced that the margins (unfortunately reed areas) work every single time, summer or winter. Westys' my favorite method feeder channel, can't wait for the next one!

I have heard that reeds/rushes can hold heat in winter so it can attract them. How true that is I don’t know. Yes exactly, that last fish was powering for the opposite peg, so it’s make a choice, put the pressure on or the fish get wrapped up around it! 🎣👌🏻

Very enjoyable you never know with fishing just what's going to happen, i was out in hot weather other week (30+°) fishing on bottom only not expecting to catch much as all were on surface in margin but took chance and just dropped solid bag in middle of them! Ended 4 hour session catching 8 carp doing just that! Guess they were drawn down to bottom by glug i added to bags! Fish full of surprises lol dont take this wrong way but do you not use a cradle or mat with sides? To stop larger fish jumping/sliding off!

Loving the tips & videos some beautiful fish, I went fishing on Partridge Lakes on Willow Lake & the carp we not feeding at all from about 10:30 until about 6pm the only issue is the fishery doesn’t allow dog biscuits or floating baits what tips would you give for fishing on hot days where there are bait & tackle bans.

100% zigs, just below the water’s surface maybe 6-12 inch under the surface. You can even hair rig a dog biscuit and use it as a zig 👌🏻

Any thoughts on how you know when your method feeder mix is mixed to the right consistency? Also, how hard do you press down when you're putting your hookbait into the method feeder mix? Thanks for answering my silly/beginner questions. Joe

Don’t over think it 👌🏻 just enough to bind together and not so much that it doesn’t break up on the bottom. Not Hard just hard enough that it stays in place for the cast 🎣

Hey Westy, I have binged watched your videos over the last week, as I am just about to get into feeder fishing and have a couple of questions for you and your viewers. I consider myself a fairly experienced float angler (waggler and pole), but never played with feeders. I am havinga terribly hard time deciding on a feeder rod that can cope with fish around 15lbs but also with skimmers and an occasional bigger roach. You are the first angler I have seen fishing proper specimen carp rods on a method or bomb, with bite alarms. Would you recommend a similar setup for someone like me, who has never fished this method before or should I stick to a traditional feeder rod? I am tempted to fish as you do for the most part, as I could then use the speci rod for other applications, thefore getting more value. Any sgestions, thouhts will b greatly appreciatd. Keep up the great videos !

The greys prodigy tx are great rods. Most feeder rods can cope with big fish these days and are very affordable, look at the guru A-class and the Shimano X1 feeder rods . Stick to something around 10ft Easier for fishing them in the margins. There is nothing to stop you putting your feeder rod on a bite alarm just make sure you use a small bait-runner real. There are a few key points to fishing the method on bite alarms , you want to make sure the insert is tight into your method feeder and you want to make sure you tighten up to the feeder as well , you want the fish to set the hook itself. I use the tip for some situations and my specimen rods for others, but as you say a light specimen rod can have multiple uses 👌🏻

Do you know how I could target larger carp on the method feeder I use bread crumb and wafters but normally only catch 2 - 3 lbs carp . I do recommend a fisherie called whitemoor lakes loads of carp fish almost every 5min to 10min but that's only from the 2 smaller lakes I haven't fished the main lake yet since only been twice.

Can I ask have you ever fished on Marsh Canal at Partridge Fisheries & is it a good lake, I’m thinking of taking my 11yo lad for his 3rd day at the fishery, I’ve taken him on Tweed which he liked at first but ended up not liking catching the little fish as he was worried about hurting them plus even more after catching his first F1, took him on Willow last week & it was way too hot for catching as the fish just weren’t interested, I’m thinking Marsh would be another good one to try as it’s the oldest out of them.
