See, this is the kind of content that is FAR more valuable than any kind of oversea ball review. Nice job, man.

Great info thanx! Been getting almost a light sunburny feeling on my tips with purple/brown "permanent" discoloration in shape of lift inserts after I started bowling 3 or more days week. I tried going without the lift side and didn't like the toss. Can't wait to get into my local shop and upsize my inserts to try this.

I start w/my thumb at 9 O'clock and rotate to 1 at release with slightly more pressure on my ring finger at release and lift w/ both fingers. I see burn marks on both finger pads . I very much enjoy tour vids. Thanks Tony S

I’d never tape my fingers like this, but interesting to see what others do. When I have to, I use the butterfly method, similar to how Prather does it.

I tried that method, but due to my sweaty hands, the bottom would roll up. I ended up having to cut a thin piece and wrap it around the bottom. Now, I’m using the method that Mike Magolan showed you, wrapping it around the finger. As long as I keep the top as close to the top of the nail as possible, it doesn’t roll down when I insert my finger in the finger hole.

When I did that it kept rolling up still. There’s no perfect way but everyone has their own method of taping

over 20 years of doing competitive bowling and over 100 games a week of practice, never had any issues with fingers or thumbs swelling, cutting, or not fitting the same from ball to ball. Now I'm seeing countless videos here recently of thumb inserts, taping fingers. Did I have a sore hand after a tournament or practice sure but never had any issues with the fingers. I'm sure this stuff has been around since 1999 but I guess my pro-shop knew what they were doing with my layouts.

@@LuisNapoles Stop with what lies? I bowl 2 hours a day 5 days a week. That's only 20 games a day. My thumbs, fingers don't swell, I have never used tape or thumb slugs or interchangable thumb slugs. Now I have had the occasional ripping of the skin on the thumb but I usually just super glue it and go about my day.

thank you for this. my question is, i use the storm precut tapes and they have helped so much but.... the issue i am having is halfway through my first game it starts to roll up or the corners are flairing out. should i cut the corners of the precut? or just go directly to the roll and cut it myself? and by all means please doing videos like this. it helps the average league bowler like myself lol

How much bigger do your inserts end up needing to be when you do that? This isn't something I do quite yet but if I start bowling a lot more and I notice issues with my fingers I'll definitely think about it and will probably just swap out all my grips at the time. - EDIT: oh I went back and rewatched and you answered that. Thanks!

Could be a good idea to still get those finger pitches checked out in a ball you don't use anymore. I bowl anywhere from 15-30 hours a week, and my thumb takes plenty of abuse but I've never had cuts or cracking or rubbing or any problems with my fingers. My coach also bowls upwards of 100 games weekly without tape on his fingers. Obviously everyone is different and feel matters too, definitely don't think tape is bad at all, but still get those pitches looked at!

Any ideas on the thumb? My thumb hole makes that vacuum pop noise, but I've had it opened up just a smidge so it's not so tight, it still makes the vacuum pop noise but it comes out much easier, my thumb gets swollen after 7 or 8 games. Is tape the solution?
