Very good Video. Thanks. It's a bit confusing that there are so much words with two different meanings like half-sister and stepsister etc. And French has many words for teacher: professeur, instituteur, enseignant and maître.

True... Though what I taught in the video is what you're meant to call people, and I can only speak for myself when I say this but personally, I've never called my stepbrothers / stepsister any particular name, and up until I did a bit of research for this video, I didn't even know you're meant to call them 'demi-frère / demi-soeur (and I am French! lol). Most people would understand those terms as meaning half-brother and half-sister, over stepbrother and stepsister. When talking about mine, I'd say my stepfather's son (le fils de mon beau-père) or my stepfather's daughter (la fille de mon beau-père) to avoid any confusion. As regards professeur, instituteur, enseignant and maître... Yes they can often be used interchangeably but there's a slight difference in meaning. Un professeur teaches teenagers or young adults one particular subject. Un instituteur teaches younger children many different subjects. Un enseignant is the general term that simply means 'teacher', so they could well be 'un professeur' or 'un instituteur'. Un maître means the same as 'un instituteur' but is also, along with the feminine version 'maîtresse', what children often call their teacher when they need to get their attention or when they talk about them. I hope this makes sense...

What do you mean, when do they say you should use "une" ? You need to use "une" with feminine nouns and "un" with masculine nouns 🙂
