How to Take On the TIMER Role at a TOASTMASTERS MEETING
The timer role is one that new members are often quick to sign up for; however, making a Timer Report interesting may be one of the most challenging tasks within Toastmasters.
In this video, I explain why the Timer role is so important, and how you can knock this role out of the park and not put other members to sleep!
If this video brings you value, make sure you SUBSCRIBE because I'm going to be producing a ton of video content on how you can be a better communicator and Toastmaster.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm doing the timer role for my second meeting ever this evening and although not massively nervous YET, I really don't want to be boring. This has helped massively, thank you.

So happy to hear that! Good for you for taking on the timer role at your second meeting! You're going to crush it. Let me know how it went afterward!
Thank you so much Wade for spicing up this timer role! I always become so anxious when I am on Timer and finid it difficult to concentrate on the content of people's speech. Instea of enjoying the moment, i'm there stressing and making sure my times indications are correct for each colour. I love your advice on presenting the timers' report in a much more creative way, so happy to hear it's possible! I also thought "what!? how to incorporate the meeting theme in that short reporting time?!" I feel it is now super possible and I know I can do it!! Thanks thanks thanks!!!

Great video man, just one quick question. If the theme of the meeting is 'Lead with Love' how can I make my timers report more interesting by using the theme. If you can illustrate some examples that'd be great as I'm clearly not the creative of mind's :/

Hey Gurvansh! Thanks for watching this video. Here are some examples: "Bob LOVED to see the green light during his Table Topics answer, which came in at 1 minute and 1 second." "Susan's PASSIONATE speech evaluation went just over time at 3 minutes and 12 seconds." "HEARTS are red, and so was the colour of the light when Eric finished his speech at 7 minutes 23 seconds." "Janice's toast WARMED our hearts and the amber light at 1 minute 40 seconds." -- If that's too challenging, you could also break it down into two categories: Love and Anger. This could be a humourous way of going about it. "For today's timer report, I've separated some of you into the love column, and some of you into the anger column. I love those who were on time with their speeches. I'm mad at those who were too short or too long. To start with, the love list: Bob, well done: 1 minute 1 second for your Table Topics response. Janice, nice work: 1 minute 40 seconds for your Toast. Now.. onto the group I'm angry with: Susan.. you made me turn on the red light with your speech evaluation of 3 minutes and 12 seconds. Eric... your speech was great, but I'm mad at you because you didn't stay within time at 7 minutes, 23 seconds. -- Hope this helps :)

Thanks for your feedback. I figured 5:00 and 5:51 were decent examples, but your opinion is valid! I'm sorry this video didn't meet your expectations.
