In this first episode of my 3-part 'How to take better cycling pictures' series, I teach you how to use your phone to take better cycling photos. Thanks Tristan. Your Dad has just been waiting for this. I have learned such a lot about using my iPhone camera in this vlog. It is just so informative not only for action photos but general use if the iPhone camera and settings. An excellent vlog Thanks. 🎉🎉
Thanks for the tips, Tristan. Sometimes what seems difficult is done in the easiest way. Waiting for the rest of the blogs 😉
Tristan you are a good teacher. You explain things so oldies like me understand. Thank you. Looking forward to next camera lesson. xx
Man!!! Lots of years of pro experience in 15'. Best tutorial ever! Can't wait to go out tomorrow on my bike to take some photos..MOLTES GRAÇIES!!!
0.5x FTW .. pretty pumped on this series and for someone with a background in photography I appreciate the insight your putting out, phone photo skills is definitely a different technique cant wait to see the other videos, cheers
I've been taking pictures all wrong this whole time. I can't wait for the rest of the series and going out to try to use what you taught us.
Amazing Tristan! Already buzzing for Part 2!
Great tips as always Tristan. Always wondered how you get those amazing shots.
Great stuff Tristan, love the channel keep it up. 👌🏻
Fabulous stuff, Tristan. Totally frustrated with my Garmin Pro, so this will help. Can't wait to see the next segments.
Fantastic! I have 12 pro and never really messed with camera settings. Excited to start using what I just learned! I've seen where lots of pros like yourself are ditching lugging massive cameras around on their bike and are just using Iphones...
Thank you Tristan, you have this rare talent to present the content in a clear and interesting way. My experiences from taking photos on the bike: a) I'm always very afraid of the phone falling off from my hand (and most likely it wouldn't survive) b) because I keep the phone in my back pocket, which typically is a sweaty place, the lens is blurry and needs wiping out to remove the sweat c) so I ended up shooting photos using my old action cam (a cheap gopro-like). I keep it in the pocket in a small, un-zipped protective case. Anyway, I really like this iPhone how-to. If not on the bike, it is very useful for everyday use. Cheers!
Thanks mate. Really enjoyed this video & learned so much!
What a fantastic video, learned loads, thanks Tristian👏
Amazing video, looking forward for rest of the series
Thanks! Very informative, youve got a new subscriber here!! Looking forward to the next part
0.5x FTW😂. I have a very basic question. How do you keep from dropping your camera and how do you keep from killing yourself while you are photographing while riding. The obvious answer is “practice” but I am looking for other tips. I have the large form factor iPhone 12 and I find it difficult to hold so that I am not nervous that I will drop it.

There’s a gadget for climbers called reeloq that prevents your phone from falling, but never tried that while biking…
Great vid mate, super informative. Thanks for sharing
0.5x FTW Hey Tristan! Thanks for the great pro tips, this is exactly what I needed and looking forward for part 2
The only thing better than the great phone and photography tips in this video, is your willingness to share them. TY

very good , thank you. .I learned some new things
This is epic man, thank you. Looking forward to the next few videos. Any reason why you prefer the 30 FPS over 60 FPS for videos @ 4K?
Awesome video. This will take my bicycle photography to the next level. I've almost crashed trying to get exciting photos in the midst of action. I finished Race Across America in 2021 and Race Across the West in 2022 and had great opportunities for photos during the races. Some of the items you discussed would have made my photo activities a lot easier. Can't wait for your next videos as I've got great plans for 2023.

Thanks mate. Apologies for the massive delay for parts 2 and 3..honestly just been a bit overwhelmed with trying to curate what I want to say for part 2. I feel like I’ve got so much information in my brain and lack the skill to get it out properly. I’ll get onto it soon though, I promise. Glad you’ve enjoyed part one so much. 🙏🏼

Fantastic video!
Love this, especially the Chase Jarvis quote. I always remind myself of that quote when I just get that spark of inspiration. What are you recommended settings on the Camera Format; High Efficenty or Most Compatible? The photos that you have shared on this video is extremely sharp and rich in colour, what kind of editing do you do post photo?
0.5x FTW. Loved this one. Started following you for your pics… stayed for your ‘tube. Seamlessly blended together. At last I can take shite pictures and not blame the settings, just the user. 😂
Hi Tristan, great video, thanks for being so concise and good layman explanations. I think this will really help with our YT channel and IG 👍

Great idea!
Really helpful and good run-through on all the bits I had ignored on my iPhone. The only questions now are how do I corner one handed, or ride no-handed to take a photo? :)
0.5 x FTW. Loved this vid. Cheers.
Thanks for the great tips Tristan... I just discovered your content and immediately subscribed!! I have an iphone 11 pro max and have it with me on every ride. I wanted to ask two questions. What size iphone do you find works best for cycling... the pro or the pro max? I like the max's bigger screen and size; however, I find that handling it one handed while riding can become cumbersome. Second, what case do you ride with and do you use any sort of pop socket on the back to help with the one handed photo/video'ing. Your advise is always appreciated!
Thanks Tristan. I didn't know how to use half of the settings on the iPhone before this video hahahaha.
I'd definitely be curious to know how you manage to grab your phone on the fly - mine is typically a mess of sweat mid-ride in my jersey pocket and grabbing it with gloves in chilly conditions presents its own challenges too.
0.5 FTW, class video as always!
