Good memories of Girona……..a go pro segment would be good and yes drop the iPhone tips so I can get the shots at Hawthorn critts now we can ride again….
Another 45 mins on the turbo in grey Scotland finished off with one of your Girona videos. Keeps me going 'til I make it back to Girona. I really think you should do a video to Llagostera, Tossa, along the coast to san Feliu and back....when you've got a minute ;-)
Nice video and pics man, i know how to do it! My question is regarding the camera: do you only use the camera strap or do you have another gear to make it fit on your back? I'm afraid it may get loose... Thanks.
Thanks, good video :)

Always up for some photography. Actually surprised you weren't using a zoom lens.....and I'm planning to sell a kidney for a Nikon zfc....sucker for that retro styling 👌...but you're right, a phone wins for practicality, portability, crashability when on a bike...

Thanks for the insights, Tristan. Would you advise to start shooting in aperture-mode more to get deeper into it or how would you start to dive deeper into photographing. What are certain settings you shoot different scenes in? I don't have the option to change lenses and would like to work better with what I already have.
@tristantakevideo
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. I’d actually recommend starting out shooting full manual to completely understand how the different settings will affect the final result. Once I did that, my world changed. This is also useful for sports where shutter speed needs to be used correctly to avoid motion blur (or to use motion blur in the right way), and in low light where the camera needs to be “told” how to replicate the scene accurately rather than always trying to expose the image how it would in regular light. These days I shoot 50% full manual and 50% aperture priority, using the exposure compensation dial heavily depending on the look I’m going for. AV for rapidly changing scenes (while cycling for example) and M for more static scenes or in consistent light. Hope that helps!

in your video on the 7 min mark, what is your setting SOOC to get brown colour?
@tristantakevideo

White balance on cloudy or shade. It adds a lot more yellow into the shot.
Great photoshoot! Love the colours, especially in the photos from the "bush" :D I have just one question - how do you carry Your camera, while on the bicycle? Do You use any bag? I'm looking for a bag to take my camera with me while im cycling, but I'm too scared to take the camera "naked" 😅 without bag..
@tristantakevideo
Жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙏🏼 I just carry it on my back using the regular Canon strap and a 3-way harness strap from a brand called Rille. I’m a little nervous about having it “naked” too but generally ride a little more cautiously while carrying it.
Please do the vlog on how to shoot better videos with your iPhone 🙏🏽
Sunsets are always like natures own fireworks display. Your high burst mode sounds like a machine gun
She's a keeper
What are you doing for sound? You're shooting selfie-video from an iPhone while riding, and there's no wind noise?
@tristantakevideo
Жыл бұрын
I just cup my hand around the bottom of the phone to stop as much wind noise from going in the microphone as possible, and only film on climbs when I’m going slow. However I’ve noticed in more recent videos my sound has been sh*t so I’ve bought myself a small microphone that plugs into the charging port on the bottom of the phone to improve it.
Hey never mind a Vlog about IPhone pictures - can we have an android version......lol. In all seriousness be interesting to see if a standard camera app installed on a phone (any phone is good enough) or do you need to download a specific app.
@tristantakevideo
2 жыл бұрын
I just use the regular iPhone camera app for my shots but there are plenty of apps out there as well. The taking of the photo is one part, editing is another part. Stay tuned for the episode!
Nice video! Which lenses do you use the most?
@tristantakevideo

Thank you 🙏🏼 I’m a big fan of my 50mm prime. I use the light/cheap F1.8 version for riding with and the Sigma F1.4 ART series for commercial work.
Nice... a very inspiring content.
Here is a vote for how we can take better video on and around the bike. A This one was great but we need more. Are you taking your videos riding with your phone just holding it? That certainly takes some skill. We would all like to document our adventures better but most of what I (and others) create is not engaging. I know your are a pro and have a lot of practice on techniques and composition but a bit of a series on how the non pro can create better photos/video would be awesome. I think it would be easy content for you and pull in additional viewers/subscribers that you might not otherwise reach.
how are you taking videos while on the bike, are you holding it by hand?
@tristantakevideo
Жыл бұрын
Correct, just handheld
How do you hold your camera? Seems kinda awkward?
@tristantakevideo

I’m holding my phone to film the video and shooting photos with the other hand, hence the awkwardness
Nice footage! So you only use 50mil?
@tristantakevideo

For this little shoot it was just 50mm, and for most of my work I use 50mm, but I also have a bunch of other lenses for more extensive projects. I do a gear run through in a video from February where I photographed a pro cycling team in Portugal if you’re interested 👌🏼
Are you going to participate in the Hotter'N Hell Hundred Tomorrow Saturday the 27th in Wichita Falls, Texas? I have photo'd the event 3 years running but do not ride, it's a awesome event with 10k + riders every year.
