I have been through probably the worst 2 mnths of my life, had a stroke, lost my mom and diagnosed with cancer, just had surgery a week ago. A friend introduced me to this man a few days ago. Here I lay watching this video and suddenly a sense of peace has come over me. I know I have tough days ahead but I also know that by just sitting and listening to these videos they will help me heal from the inside out.

You can try do the method called yoniso manasikàra ( Pali language ) , taught by A Vietnamese Theravada monk , as follows : Sit in meditation posture , or as you can according to your health . You can do it when lying too . You say one by one of these sentences , after each time of saying a sentence , you breath in , hold , one breathe out ( only one time ) 1/ illness is impermanent - deep breath in - hold - deep breath out ( = b.i -h -b.o ) 2/ so this ill body will be recovered . b.i -h-b.o 3/ leave , cancer , leave - b.i-h-b.o 4/ with calm mind , I breath in and know breath in . , - b.i -h-b.o . 5/ with calm mind , I breath out I know breath out - b.i-h-b.o 6/ Then breath in , hold , breath out : 5 times Repeat from 1 to 6 , 5OO times , about 1/2 hours . You do it 4 times / day , or less depending on your health . Practice 6 months , you may see the good result . You have to keep 5 precepts : 1/ no killing living beings and eat plant based diet . 2/ no lying , cheating v.v 3/ no alcohol , no heroin . 4/ no stealing . 5/ no sexual misconduct . Some people use this method and cure their illness .

Whenever I'm just out of it. Thay brings me a sense of humanity being good. They say he is extreme. Well I say this. People if they suddenly became poor. They would rather blame foreigners and vote and die for a new Hitler. Well . That shows me I should not listen to these people. Maybe they are extreme. In not knowing. Ignorance. I'd rather die not protecting myself. And living by Thich Nhat Hanh's standard. Them to die for a tyrant evil being.

Same - I was thinking of him this morning when waking up. I will let this man live inside my heart, so whenever I feel the external world is too harsh, or whenever I feel strong negative feelings, I know this man will tell me "I want to understand your suffering. I want to take your suffering seriously." Also whenever I feel very happy and joyful, I know this man will be happy for me. Although I've never met him in person, I already consider him a lifelong friend and companion.

Thay speaks mindfully, with compassion and insight, from his bottomless pool of wisdom. This man was/is a living Buddha, a TRULY enlightened human being. I feel INCREDIBLY fortunate I was born during his time, discovered Buddhism, and encountered the purest soul on the planet, Thich Nhat Hanh. He has saved me in every way a person can be saved. What this scholar, humanitarian, and spiritual master accomplished in a single lifetime is astounding. The "Father of Mindfulness" did nothing short of re-envisioning and transforming Buddhism for the East, the West, and the modern age.

Thank you, dear friend, for sharing about your situation. Thay always encourages us to find a Sangha to support us and to strengthen our practice 🙏. There are many local groups practicing the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh worldwide. We have set up a global directory, where you may find a Sangha in your vicinity (www.mindfulnessbell.org/directory). Practitioners from around the world also find it very helpful to join a retreat (mainly online at the moment). We hope what we share as a reflection to your comment is helpful, please do take what is helpful and leave behind what is not 🙏. With much care, The Plum Village App team plumvillage.app

I love and hate this man, I feel like I was in the matrix and took the pill and now I'm too awake for the western world. I'm at peace and the at the same time I'm in tormoral. My vision is above 20/20 and I see and feel too much and cannot unsee what I see. His teaching has done wonders for my complex PTSD and I think him for this because it has saved my life but it has brought so much sorrow also. It made me see things that I haven't seen before, it shows me the world in a way that I am dumbfounded by the way it works. As I tried to inact his teaching in my life I realized not many people cared about me as a person as a human but as a resource that they can exploit and use. I then started to pull away from society and become jaded. Thich you are a gem amongst rubbish and you are the hulk in terms of understanding and patience because in the west even though it saved my life I feel like it destroyed it also. Some people started a church on your belief and teaching and they always wanted me to speak on my experiences with your teaching but I couldn't because I hate you as much as I love you.

If you truly manage to rest and feel at peace there is no reason why you could not go back to living an even more fulfilling life. If you feel like your life is destroyed it’s because you still have steps to walk and need to start doing things you like but with a new, more balanced way of seeing things. You don’t have to live like a monk.

Beyond mere appearances, there must be a reason why the sangha have so few wrinkles! Peace and happiness is possible if you don't expect external conditions to fulfill what may be internal and immediate if you try it out!
