Love Love!!! Thay has a beautiful way of using words to describe capturing the most intense emotions, gathering them up into sizable pieces , throwing them (that doesn't seem like the right word) all aside and addressing them in more manageable pieces as if they have gone through food processors blades - breaking things down into philosophical units. And when you think about it, you open up the food processor to see a homogenous mass only to say, "Good grief, that is a homogenous mass that I just threw into the food processor of my brain." And maybe that is where the challenge of understanding originates.

I agree, Jeana. That’s the approach I use. I use the image of “Land of Misfit Toys” from the “Rudolph” claymation movie. 😊 Work to move the energy from the feelings (without judging the feelings) and place in a positive reservoir.

She dumped me because I did not listend to her and I was crying for love asking myself everyday why I deserved that rude behavior from her I only wanted a girlfriend.. And then one day I realised and started to notice to find a partner is not something easy a man and a woman really have to like each other and it has to feel great once you see each other and that is something verry rare in this world.. The teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh are beautiful and a gift. I grew up with depression and tried to commit suicide twice at a young age. If I had known these messages then I wouldn't have felt so lonely or stuck. I hope one day children everywhere grow up learning how to feel and accept their emotions. Thich Nhat Hanh's messages are healing for the soul, thank you to the Plum Village Community for sharing and spreading.

No no no Sandy. Please teach your kids that they have within them the only guru they'll ever need. Nature gave us the most amazing natural device in the universe, Our Brain. And we are slowing rewiring it with bad information through the media of every stripe until we only know what we are told. You are the ONLY person that really knows what you need. Don't make you children into autonotoms. Otherwise you're teaching your kids that they are NOT enough and they'll spend the rest of their lives searching for answers outside of themselves and led down winding roads to dis-enlightenment.
Such a beautiful soul.
This grabbed me. "Cannot have happiness without going thru suffering" or "running from suffering to make happiness is not wise." Happiness or joy AND suffering go together. Brilliant yet simple wisdom. Reminds me of the biblical analogy (not verbatim) that one "cannot uproot the weeds lest you destroy the roses." They grow together.
6:17 I think, for the first time, I actually felt relief because of insight. A mixture of relief and happiness. I first heard of the concept of non-self years ago, but when I'd think about it and impermanence I felt more of a mix of sadness and nihilism. But sitting with my suffering and knowing that I'm much more than one emotion just gave me a happy feeling of letting go. Like walking through life while carrying a boulder. You have to keep walking, and you have to walk through an endless variety of pleasant and unpleasant terrain, and there was never a beginning and there is no end to your walking. But you don't have to carry that boulder.
@OhHapppyDaay
3 жыл бұрын
What if that boulder is another person? One’s own only child. And what if one continues to seemingly lack insight into ones own behavior even up until the season of grandmother? And this one is a Vipassana meditator who seems to be caught in the trap of the illusion of time? The past’s anger squeezing like a python. If suffering pays an important role in happiness, I must be being prepared for quite a good bit of it. 😃💖Yes yes I am making flowers up out of compost, garbage, suffering. I will make good use of it. I Am an artist, after all. This is the art of suffering manifesting. Good, Good. I see as I am writing the answer has been right here, sitting with me, quietly, waiting to be realized. Make good use of the suffering, suffer much less. We are all in this together. Regardless of what mind tells me, I Love my daughter and my daughter Loves me. Truth out of the compost.

Where I am today from the last meltdown, grief, loss of any confidence or control, I had 2yrs ago. Today I cannot believe where I am in my mind! He has taught me how to use the garbage of suffering in me and use it to be happy and compassionate. How suffering and happiness is each side of a paper, how left and right is together. To not run from suffering with media, drugs, alcohol. How suffering is part of life. To learn how to suffer and so suffer much less.
