Can't use the crown Vic intake, it aims the wrong direction, also you don't need to swap wire harnesses. Otherwise spot on video. Edit: some of the panther platforms have oil coolers on the filter housing, which the mustang chassis doesn't support, so if it has the cooler replace it with the mustang housing.

Some great info I forgot to mention right here. For sake of simplicity though, it’s easier to reuse your mustang harness. I was pretty sure you can use the Vic intake manifold but have to swap the plenum to a mustang one. I believe the manifolds are the same for both.

Almost forgot some crownvic grandmarquis will require you to keep thier specific accessory belt as the mustangs have an extra idler pulley on the passengerside which the grandmarquis crown vic wont have... this is only on some.. the last crown vic motor i got was a 2011 and it didnt have the pulley but the timing cover did have the spot on the timing cover to swapnit over.. another 2008 grandmarquis 4.6 did not have this location drilled and tapped on the timing cover

  • @jesseochoa4807

Need to swap your injectors and fuel rail if your putting in a newer crown vic motor other than that its spot on. Also the coolant temp sensor on newer 4.6 is on the head under the intake manifold sonyou will have to wire it up to factory harness as new intakes dont have the original temp sensor location drilled and tapped on the newer crownvic 4.6.

As far as I'm aware, you should be able to swap the heads and be good to go. The 4v's in the 99-01 Cobras, Mach 1s, Marauders use the same block casting, pistons, and rods as a 2v. The main difference just being the top end. But the motor swap should look roughly the same overall in terms of process, minus swapping the heads/timing if you choose the go that route.

Well if you’re swapping it into a 4.6 3v car, so 05-10 the motor should fit in. I’m not 100% sure if coyote cars use the same motor mount system. Your 3v ecu may be able to run the 5.4 2v but I’m not too sure. I know I’ve seen 3v motors run off the 2v ecu with cam phaser lock outs but idk if it can be done the other way around.

You literally don't have to change oil pan or dip stick if its a panther motor. I have a 1997 GT with a 2008 grand marquis motor. used the stock marquis pan and dip stick. The dip stick is much lower in the engine bay on a mustang but its not a big deal to reach in and pull it out. The intake is the same too except some only had one coolant temp sensor which ran ECU and cluster. I just wired my sn95 to one CTS.

All depends on what you want to do, and what your budget is. Coyote and Godzilla are new platform and cost quite a bit more to do stuff with. With the 2v or even a 4v, you can build it for relatively cheap, and power adders like On3 single or twin turbos or even TorkTech, Saleen or Vortec superchargers can be picked up pretty inexpensively

The 4R70W if maintained can be a good transmission. The gearing is just rather long. If you're staying NA, I'd recommend pairing it with some higher gears like 4.10s. If you're going boosted, I wouldn't swap to any gears higher than 3.73s. Just be weary about the overdrive servo failing. It can cause a slip from 3rd to 4th gear. But those transmissions with some cranked up line pressure can shift hard and fast.

Lincoln Aviator/MK8 motors will also work. My friend Blake has an Aviator 4v with like 180k miles in his Terminator that he got a roller with a ported Eaton and the full blower kit he strapped on to it. Running on E85 and is making a bunch of steam. NPI pistons have less of a dish. (more comp) A lot of Old schoolers will take a NPI with block and pair it with PI cyl heads and PI intake for a bump in compression. This is a Saleen Series 2 supercharger which is basically a Magnuson MP90. The Cobra has an Eaton M112 which is whole different setup. If you're looking to install a Cobra blower on your car, I'd look into the Tork Tech kit. It allows you to run any blower designed to fit on a Cobra.

I'd look into some of the supercharger kits that are available. Some kits like the Tork Tech will need the separate purchase of other supporting mods, and the blower itself, and require some modification as well. Saleen kits, if they are complete will bolt on directly and just need a tune, but there are some mods to fix some defects I would highly recommend. Another great kit is one from Jonse Speedlab which is basically a modernized version of the Saleen S281-E 2.3L Whipple Kit which comes with everything you need. You can also go the Vortech route too.

a 4.6l head gasket is $16 vs a whole motor hmmm , I can do both head gaskets in 5 hrs easily without pulling the motor ,, new stock cams are $200 ,, new valves $70 for a 4,6l cheap ,, new stock pistons and rings are $150 rods are $75 , no matter what motor you put in 2024 or 1997 the overhead cam bearings and valve stem seals wear out rated only for 120k miles , the 4,6l will get better fuel mileage and last alot longer when rebuilt no power but huge dependability with 2V BEST MOTOR EVER MADE . just the wiring harness for a coyote swap is $1500 on Facebook market place you can get a 2011 mustang for 5k rebuilt title to 9k ,, why swap a motor buy a whole new car

Just one thing, the 2011 Crown Victoria P71 was only offered to law enforcement agencies. After 2008 you could not buy a crown victoria as a consumer, you could only buy them as fleet vehicles. P71 packages were never offered to the general public.

Ah ok gotcha. Thanks for that clarification. It might’ve been that the car my motor came from never got dressed up with the light bar and push bar. It might’ve been used elsewhere.

@@904Saleen No worries! I nerd out over those old panther bodies pretty damn hard. It’s neat to see people taking the engines out of them and putting them into something a little faster, I wasn’t aware that it was a very common swap! Really neat stuff
