A SUPER useful item to use (like the thumbnail shows) as well when getting in trouble with the ghost or simply by trying to survive a ghost hunt for the Side Objectives is to bring a SMUDGE STICK that will help repel the ghost instantly if it gets too close to you while it hunts! Can’t believe I didn’t put it in the video… Realized it when it was too late. I’m only human!

To further explain the Line of Sight mechanic, when you break LoS the ghost will continue to hone in on your last known location and retain the speed it built up by keeping it's eyes on you. If it reaches your last known location and can't find you, it will lose it's speed boost over time and briefly wander in a small area in an attempt to check hiding spots, but the AI isn't ultra smart so a good hiding spot should work almost every time. Then, if it still can't find you the ghost will begin roaming the map like normal again. All this is to say, turning a corner alone is not enough to break the concentration, you'll also need to either turn a second corner before the the ghost catches up, or find a hiding spot. Anything that'll stop it from finding you again when it reaches the corner as well. Bonus tip, room doors do block Line of Sight but they are not obstructions for the ghost. It can simply walk right through a door if it wants to, so hiding right behind one *might* work but if the ghost decides to randomly roam into your room, you're done for. It's super useful for running away during a hunt though, close every door you pass through because it's one more thing that can help you get away from the ghost and survive. Even if the ghost finds you again after passing through the door, the time it took to catch up is time it was not gaining speed.

Nightmare mode has no closets. And actually you can hide behind regular door. You just need to open it and hide behind it. Bathroom doors are perfect for this(or utility room like in video. that hiding spot is perfect but it isn't a good idea to hide in a ghost room). Ghosts can't see through any doors, but they can go through them. And ghost is looking for a hitbox inside your head, so if you hide your head(not character model head) you won't be seen by ghost.

I got phasmophobia 3 days ago and i keep dying, this made me alot braver and hopefully ill be able to complete some runs, also looking for some friends cuz there is NO WAY im doing this alone, last time i tried i alt f4'ed when he started haunting.

Im fairly certain with PTT, the ghost will not hear your mic unless you push the button. I live in a fairly loud house and use PTT, and never have had a problem. Ive been explaining the game to someone sitting next to me, while the ghost walks past my closet without an issue

Haven't even hit a double digit level and have been watching your tutorials. I was panicking for you on this.

You know you're good at the game when you're talking about juking an invisible ghost around a desk 😂 awesome stuff

My main issue is that i don't understand where the ghost comes from, i memorized my various hiding spots but not knowing from where it would come from genuenly destroys me

It's been harder to pin point exactly where the ghost spawns as of the latest patches. I usually try and listen to whichever noise it now makes when hunting (i.e. crying or laughing) and try to run away from the location as much as I can. The ghosts are roaming so much lately, I can't blame you for struggling. Especially since the ghost keeps on spawning in other rooms, even floors sometimes. Keep at it, you'll get used to it! :)

Step 1: run to door Step 2: door locked Step 3: ghost right behind you Step 4: run around like crazy

Regular doors will not hide you. They can break line of sight, which can slow down ghosts. But the ghosts will walk right through a door looking for you.

I don't know why but the voice sounds like ASMR and I love it :) I love phasmophobia and specter

i remember playing phas with a friends, and the ghost attacked because i accidentally dropped the music box while i was playing and i got locked in, i was back to the front door, my was friend outside and I could hear the ghost in the other room walking, i was so scared just whispered loudly to my friends and the ghost didnt hear it [luckily] that was the most scary thing i had to expirience after the campsite map

Ghost: *Opens closet door* Anybody in here? *Closet door shuts* Person inside closet: Nooooooo Ghost: Ok fair enough

I've heard different things before on holding a closet or locker door closed preventing a ghost from opening it. Closets and lockers, or maybe even bathroom stalls on bigger maps, should be a priority on asylum, maple lodge, or any house. However, on Brownstone and the prison, there are several different hiding spots in which you have to crouch to fully utilize them. The ghost cannot crouch, so if you crouch under a staircase if a bookshelf leaning against a wall, then you should be perfectly safe for the rest of the hunt as the ghost cannot reach you even if it knows where you are. What I do when I am hiding in a safe spot is make a lot of noise to lure the ghost towards me, as the ghost cannot kill me but it can kill whoever else may be hiding in a classroom behind a desk or anything.

What I found about doors is that if the door is OPEN and you hide behind, you have to make sure you cannot be seen from the middle of the room. That's what is making a difference. If you hide behind a door but when a ghost do a random sweep of the room, it will see you, then you are dead. One of the best place to test this is in Edgefield, the bathroom next to the kitchen. If you hide behind that door, you are safe because if the ghost comes in and walks around the room, it cannot see you. Another safe place I have is in the asylum. When you're downstairs (Let's use left as an example), the first door you see once you get to the main corridor is a trash room. If you hide behind the door and the trashcan (in the corner), you will not be seen These two spots have saved my butt LOADS of time

At the end he found out it wasn't the revenant 😂

Alright, so I was inn on something with my idea, but I didn't know it was a line off sight thing. Sinch I have been running between alot off walls and didn't understand how I got found inn closets. Walkietalkie counts as talking obviusly.

nice that u always hide in such lockers etc. the problem is on professional and nightmare a lot of these are getting blocked by stuff so u cant use them

Doors wether glass or normal block line of sight, But they dont block the ghost movement

I didn't know that ghosts can get u if u hid behind a normal door. I used the talk a bunch with my friend in the restroom and when it opened, we would shut the door. Then we died eventually

dude my friend is on another level they literally hide behind the ghosts room door in a corner on the frame of the door. AND SOMEHOW THEY HAVE NEVER EVER DIED LIKE WHAT IDEK

Can you hold the locker/closet door closed so the ghost can't open it? Or will it be able to open it anyway and you'll have to close the door again?

as a newbie I wish there was some kind of training mode, where you could practice hiding, but if you got caught you didnt have to sit through the death sequence and it just reset.

if youre on multiplayer and during the hunt a player inside the van uses the radio to talk to another player inside the house- will the ghost pick it up?

Can someone explain the difference between direct evidence items and “other” items? Like the emf reader can lead to an evidence answer. But a ghost stepping in salt or flickering lights etc. these instances tell us what?

Side indicators for the type of ghost. E.g. one type of ghost being more prone to interact with lights, objects, salt etc. They'll come up under the descriptions on the ghosts, some of these indicators can be related to "weaknesses" (like salt, electricity) Basically smaller cues for the type of ghost but not all 100% reliable

They could also be used to find(only some, like parabolic mic), or complete objectives for more money(like salt).

Whatever you bring aside from the original items will be lost IF you die. If you survive the run, even if the run is incomplete, you'll keep what you brought. You do NOT need to bring anything back to the Van as of patch 0.3.X to keep them if you decide to leave! This might change in the future but for now you are safe!

Any door can break line of sight with the ghost. The reason you can't trust normal doors is because holding the door shut will not prevent the ghost from entering the room, meaning that the ghost can still roam into the room and instantly see and kill you. But the door can still be used to break line of sight. As an example you can go to Willow St into the garage and nudge behind the right hand door up against the wall and be completely safe

any items i leave during an investigation will be returned if i dont die? so just leave in the house?

As long as you live every item comes back to you! Even if you cut the investigation short and decide to return to base with the van.

What About hiding in a corner at the begin of the hunt

How do you know which way to run when the ghost starts hunting? Does the ghost start at the same position every time and generally make the same path each time? Seems kinda lame and makes it sooo much easier to survive if that is the case. Do they ever start hunting you from the opposite side you're expecting them to appear at?

The best you can do is listen as much as you can. Right now the ghosts roam so much and don't seem to care about you to the point that it can start hunting two rooms away for no reason. I've had some spawn on me before, however. Your best friend is your ear for when it starts hunting. You'll eventually get used to hearing / understanding where the ghost is starting. Derps will occur but you can't rely on seeing the silhouette anymore when it's starts hunting as it gets active so fast you would risk dying trying to see it flash.

Try breaking line of sight as much as you can using walls, doors, and furniture so that the ghost looses aggro. Best of luck!

question, does it still pick up sounds from your mic even when you're not pushing the local/global talk button? asking coz that might be the main reason why i keep dying in hunts. :/ edit: 16:42 wow that was a close call

The microphone is ALWAYS open to the ghost! That is regardless of if you have it on push to talk. Best to go quiet all together during a hunt! Note: Beware of surrounding sounds such as a fan or family sounds behind you as it may attract the ghost!

You can hide behind doors in bathrooms (but only small ones), because the ghost can’t see you then.

with the events your flashlight doesn’t flicker as harshly and you won’t hear that croaking as often or see the ghost in full form. also players only die in hunts or when they take the Hanged Man tarot card

When I was new to phasmaphobia my friend told me that if I ran out of sanity I would die instantly and I panicked when I reached 14 sanity bc I thought I was gonna die lmfao

the line of sight shit is so bullshit lol we had a ghosst on highschool and i chased me from 1 end on top and the other end on the bottom floor and i broke sight for like 30 seconds specifically upstairs im downstairs thinking im safe and the ghost just phased through the ceiling and killed me

ik its not safe to hide behind closed doors, but can you open the doors and hide in the corner behind?

I've seen some people use the trick. First time I saw it was with the glass doors of the garage on Willow street. Basically opening the door on yourself while being next to the wall. I believe it broke line of sight and I've used it before too in a panic moment. I am not 100% certain that trick works anymore, however.

It does not! I've done extensive test on it. Only if you talk, obviously, will it attract the ghost. I use the radio as an indicator to know if the hunt is over all the time! (They might change that feature but for now you are safe)

Ah I know why my junior told me not to come in the house while the ghost is hunting: I live with my family and they’re watching TV next to me😭😭😭

I feel like the pros ( most helpful) are to use corners, if bigger maps you can just outrun the ghost around the whole map as long as it's not a sprinter one, instantly shut closet drawers, turn flashlights off when you hide not whilst running, be push to talk. I mean that's what helps me. Also smudge ones you could place yourself at a corridor. Say on willow down the hallway. Then just sprint through the ghost and hide. Because if being a sprinter those can be iffy.

I know that holding electronics will lure the ghost but I don't think thats true with the Video and Photo camera. I run the video camera night vision instead of a flashlight (been very helpful with running away from the ghost and still being able to see in tbe dark without attracting it) and there have been many instances where I'll turn a corner while its on my trail and hide in a nearby room and it'll just walk by, with either camera active and on in my hand. Never had an issue with those nor have any of my friends.

I've played this game for so long, and watched Insym forever. But every time the ghost hunts its throwing doors open and killing me? I turn off my flashlight and drop anything in my hand before I reach a locker or closet, I mute my mic, and hold the door. Ever since the big patch I die almost every time no matter what 😕

I'm thinking it has to somewhat be linked to your mic OR, a big MAYBE, you don't close the doors fast enough after the ghost opens them? I won't lie, a lot of those situations when the doors get thrown open are the luck that the ghost wasn't looking at me through the little opening. Because if it does, it's over. It actually happened to me TWICE while trying to record this video xD I can definitely say that if your sanity is at 0 the ghost becomes relentless, so maybe keep an eye on that, too! Good luck out there, I believe on you!

You can but beware that the ghost will try and open the adjacent closet door. Also note that if the ghost knows your in there, aka you made noise / it saw you and got too close, holding the door won't save you!
