    I recommend wrapping all the pillars, too. Completely changes it from feeling like a cheapo budget car to a nice one.

    Easy in older cars but newer cars with the pillar mounted airbags might need a different approach to keep the airbags working the way they were designed too.

  • @codyrunciman578

    @codyrunciman578

    @@soarwiththeeagles5679 the airbags are actually all the way along the roof behind the headliner. It says airbag on the pillar as a way of identifying (mostly for emergency services) if the car is fitted the curtain airbags or not. You can safely remove and cover the pillars without upsetting the airbags.

    Couple things I always recommend if you have time is to let it dry overnight out of the car upside down. Just to let that glue really cure before putting it back in where if the glue didn't really grab fully it might want to sag and then the glue fully dries over night and now you have a saggy spot and would have to pull it all back out. Also hitting it with a heat gun or blow dryer before reinstallation helps cure the glue as well if you are in a hurry. I've done a few of these over the years and let's just say those first couple looked great at first and then a month later were like grannies panties LOL

    Nice 👍🏼 I did one about 20 years ago and back then I didn’t know the meaning of “less is more” as far as the glue (3M Super 77) was concerned, and yeah it was garbage hahah... anyway I wanted to ask you do you start from the center? or at one side? Just curious if you wouldn’t mind sharing any more tips you may have? Now I think I want to do this again, and I’m way more capable this time around after having 2 built cars (LS1 GTO ~600whp, bugeye WRX ~456whp) and a handful of stereo installations under my belt lol I’m still humble enough to know that I definitely don’t know everything, and even tho its probably a straight forward process. It doesn’t hurt to ask someone that has more knowledge in a particular subject... any info you got is much appreciated 🙏🏼👍🏼

    I really enjoyed watching this boys, one thing I may add, is only apply directly over a perfectly fine headliner , for the best results remove the old headliner fabric and sand off all old foam and leave the board clean before applying new foam back headliner , Mickey great Video you are truly a man with many gifts

    I do quite a few suede headliners at work. Definitely harder to work with than standard headliner fabric. Something that works well on cars with deep handle pockets and sunroofs is a steamer. Heating it allows it to stretch Into those tougher area's nicely 🤙

  • @Hattonbank

    @Hattonbank

    2 жыл бұрын

    If your door cards go right up to the window you would be advised to use Alcantara as it is the only suede cloth manufactured to resist the higher heat and UV loadings that you get at the door top, dashboard, & steering wheel. Fit other brands and you will get fading from the sun in time If your door cards are inserts, not going right up to the glass, cheaper alternatives should be OK.U

So I have an old mazda (1990) protegé as a project car and I recently took out the headliner and it literally crumbled to pieces(the actual plastic piece). I haven't managed to find a replacement or find one in good conditions out of another car either. Are there any recommendations?? Thanks! Love the videos btw 🔥🙌🏾

    Do you think to replace the original antenna with a shark fin aftermarket one, and also installing an amplifier with it???

    You mentioned the recovering process is a little different for older Japanese cars. Do you need to remove existing material before recovering on the older headliners?
