    Thanks for the video. I've had my peace Lily for about 5 years now. When my mother passed away my father put this plant by her grave. I took it home after the service. Now that he has gone too I have really gained an affection for the plant. It has 4 ft vines coming off of it now and has been repotted twice. Your tips really helped me keep this thing beautiful.

    I cannot say for sure if misting works for Peace Lily. I do mist my Peace Lily once a day and give it just enough light by a window we have that doesn't cast a lot of sunlight. This was the best indoor conditions for my Peace Lilly. Leaves didn't brown, let alone brown tips. When I stopped misting, two leaves were about 30% brown.

    I think this peace lily care tips video is most the relevant with my peace lily, because mine always dropping everytime I put it in high light and warmer place (not direct sunlight). Some peace lily tips videos on youtube say that they are good in high light but never happen to mine. So, I put my peace lily in the darker corner of my bed room and the leafs stand again. Never put your lily in the high light or warmer place, they don't like it. Actually I'm looking for care tips to grow more leaf but I didn't find it yet, if anybody know how to do please help me giving comments here. Thank you so much for the video, it helps me so much. Amazing tips.

    Actually it depends on what country you are in. I'm in New Zealand and my peace lilies far prefer VERY high light, growing better, lusher leaves with better color. It respond well to bright summer shaded light. It never gets brown tips from high light, only from tap water minerals so I use rain water or distilled water. If I put it in a dark corner of the room it stops growing and any leaves are 1/3 the size and color isn't good.

    So glad it helped! I prefer watering mine in the morning so if the leaves get wet they've got some time to dry out over the day and at the moment mine need watering about once a week. I let the top layer of soil dry out a little between waterings but mine are quite small. If you've got a big one then I'd let it dry out about an inch down between waterings. I love watching them perk back up after a good wilt too

    I bought a small peace lilly and it has stayed small and scrawny for years and has never flowered. I have it in a low light area in my house, I have started giving them only bottled water and have now moved it in a higher light area inside my house but still out of direct light. I broke it up into as many plants as I was able to separate it into and put them separate in a huge pot. Nothing is making them look nice and big, but they are green, and alive and happy looking, just small, scrawny, and not flowering.

    You can keep it in the clay pot. It will do just fine in there. However, keep in mind that clay will wick moisture away (it’s porous), so you will have to water more often. As for repotting, peace lilies don’t need to be repotted often. They actually prefer to be a bit root bound.

    I have a few questions! I’m a new plant owner so I’m clueless. What is top watering? Also, I’ve been keeping my peace lily soil moist, when I received it the entire plant was drooped all the way around the pot. after a few weeks of proper watering my leaves never look as smooth as yours, they are quite wavy still and I’m wondering why that is?

  • @victoriablue2895

    @victoriablue2895

    I believe top watering is just how people normally water plants, putting water on top of the top and letting it seep downwards. Bottom watering is when the plant soaks up water from the roots through drainage holes. I'm not entirely sure water causes the waves, I have the same problem with mine. I wonder if it's just the type or age of the plant.

    I just repotted mine with VERY damp organic potting soil, and added a tiny amount of liquid miracle grow. I've had this plant 15 yrs and never fertilized. I can't lose this plant after so many years, I got it from my grandma's funeral😢 Please help! I took out some of the smaller "baby" plants when repotting and put them in a jar of water just covering the roots in an effort to convert them to semi aquatic for my aquarium. It could be stressed out from the move and change in conditions or it could just be it's natural cycle. After the flowers die off they have a period of rest until they put out more flowers (usually they start growing flowers in early spring). Sometimes in shops they use a special hormone (gibberellic acid) to force the plant to flower out of season or when it's too young to produce flowers so they look great when you buy them but once those first flowers die off it won't grow more until it's matured. Good luck! I hope yours gets some lovely new flowers soon!

    Sorry if this is a bit late, but you might have root rot. I put mine in a well draining soil once I cleaned my roots off and watered it with a hydrogen peroxide and water mixture. I recently started getting brown tips and this time humidity and sunlight was the issue. I moved it farther from my window and I put it in a shallow tray with rocks and water and misted it frequently. I stopped getting crispy ends and it is doing better than ever!

  • @daisydawes8231

    Congrats on getting your first peace lily! Repotting probably won't help the brown tips and if you move it to a bigger pot when it's too small then it could cause other problems. When mine has leaves where half the leaf is brown then I usually cut the whole leaf off on the stalk especially if the leaf feels floppy. It sucks to lose leaves but the plant will put out new healthy leaves in time, especially during the growing season. If you don't want to cut the whole leaf off then you could just cut off the brown section and wait for new leaves to grow. Hope that helps! Good luck with your peace lily!

    Daisy Dawes yeah of cut off as many brown tips as possible. One little leaf has kind of turned all the way brown and the stem is yellowing. So I will probably cut that at the stalk. Another stem with a little bit bigger leaf is yellowing too and the leaf is a brown tips/yellow/green mixture. Will probably cut that too! I didn’t reply but waited until soil was dry to water. I also added some plant food so hopefully that helps!

  • @daisydawes8231

    @daisydawes8231

    @@a_2502 You could try watering it a bit more often. I let the top layer of soil get dry to a cm or so down between waterings because peace lilies don't like to get too dry. The leaves wilt when they need water and so if you see them starting to sag a little then that's a good time to give them more water. Hopefully the plant food will have helped too because when the leaves start to look yellow it's usually a sign that they need some nutrients. I hope it starts to look better soon!

    Top watering is when you pour water on top of the soil and let the excess water drain out of the drainage holes. Bottom watering is when you place your plant(s) in another container filled with water and let the plant roots soak it up. Either way works. It just comes down to your preference and the nature of the plant

    @@dezireeperez6115 thank you 🙏 I’ve realised I was under watering my plants as I wasn’t watering them so much that the water drained out the bottom, but I did that for the first time yesterday, and oh boy, it was quiet the experience, lol, and I haven’t even got that many plants yet 😳 I enjoyed it though and I’m keen to learn more about plants and taking care of them - I’m going to start cataloguing my plants though and the care they need because I’m already starting to get a little overwhelmed with it all but I’m guessing, and I think you alluded to this, that over time, you get to know your plants and what each one prefers, based on, like you said, our own particular preferences as to how we like to do things and depending also on how many plants we have and many other factors. I like your confidence, have you been keeping plants for a while now? What happens to the cuts after a few weeks?? Wouldn't the cuts simply turn brown and yellow? I'm not sure that's a solution unless you plant to keep cutting back the dead parts of the leaves? Can we have an update since you're promoting this technique?

  • @daisydawes8231

    @daisydawes8231

    The cuts on the leaves don't turn brown or yellow. They heal up and stay green. I just went and checked my plants and there's no brown or yellow bordering where the leaves have been cut or anything like that and I cut them about 9 months ago. If you don't address the problem that's causing the brown tips then the brown tips will come back after pruning though.
