Improve Your Voice I have this problem all the time. When I was maybe 14 or 15 I was on a bus and the ticket inspector came and asked me for my ticket. I gave him my under 16’s ticket and he didn’t believe I was under 16. He asked my date of birth and I couldn’t say it. He then kicked me off the bus because he thought I was lying.

Don’t feel that way. Life is long and you can make changes to start appreciating all that you have. Whenever you feel this way, I want you to write down three things that you are grateful for. Even if you feel awful, force yourself to sit and write 3 blessings that you can actually be thankful for! Then once you acknowledge these three things. Spend a little time working on this issue at hand. You’ll find that you’ve changed your psychology to a more positive mindset and so will allow the work to work because you’re not frustrated. 💪💪💪

I’m 18 years old, I’m terrified to apply for a job because of the interview, I hate speaking to people on the phone because my anxiety goes through the roof. I remember being at school and the teachers would ask the class a question, and I knew all the answers but couldn’t say them because I knew I would start to stutter. However, the only time I don’t stutter is when I’m saying phrases from a movie or start to sing. I just wish there was a cure to get rid of it. But this video has helped! Thank you.

My daily regimen to help manage my stutter is: (1) Practice Daily Mindful Meditation - 10 mins (2) Practice Diaphragmatic Breathing - 10 mins (3) Reading Out Loud - 10 mins (4) Practice In Front Of My Bathroom Mirror - I practice greetings, my name, salutations, etc.... The most fascinating aspect of all of this is when I DON'T focus on my stutter and I focus on the conversation, the person I'm speaking to and I'm in the moment, my stutter lessens and often goes away. When I focus on living and being in the moment, my speech improves. When I have a block, I stop, breathe, and continue on. We are all different in our speech journey but our common denominator is that we are not alone. The main point of all of this is that there is no magic pill but through daily practice, you will see and hear the difference. All of my coaches told me that if you want to get good at a skill, you need to practice. (My background: started stuttering at age 5 due to a traumatic dog attack. I had no voice for one year after the dog attack and then I attended 20 years of speech therapy. I'm 49 now with 95% fluency. I focus on living and not my stutter. Fear has no more control over me, I'm in control now.)

Summary 1. relax your body, muscles and jaw - drop shoulders and relax muscles - focus on breathing - massage jaw 2. slow down your speech - recognise patterns in speech stuttering 3. Focus attention away from yourself - focus on the action, not the words. Focus on how you're trying to affect the listener. Words will come automatically. - example: when flirting, don't think about the words you have to say but think about how you are trying to affect the other person with flirting. - example 2: when scolding, don't think about the words, think about the action and effect of scolding. 4. Practice daily If it doesn't work: stop, breathe, slow down, think of the action or change the action.

I've been stuttering since I learned to talk. I couldn't get through a sentence without stuttering. My family (bless them) didn't know that it was an actual speech impediment and would hit me in the mouth every time I stuttered thinking that I was doing it on purpose. My mom's approach of getting me to get over my stutter was to force me into public speaking. Eventually I wouldn't stutter as much in front of a crowd (I still did very randomly with conversations) I was bullied because of my weight and my stutter as I was growing up, and it wasn't until I was in college that I saw The King's Speech for the first time and found out that I wasn't alone- a lot of people had that problem too. I used the same techniques I saw there and what I see in these videos to try to overcome my stutter. My stutter still comes back every now and then, but I learned to overcome it by: - avoiding trigger sounds when I know I'm about to stutter (so using a synonym instead: eg, saying sheet instead of paper) - using hand gestures to force the sound out - blending it with an "umm" to not make it so obvious - controlling my pace so I can really visualize each word I'm about to say. I never let my stutter stop me from doing what I love - I'm currently an English communications trainer and scuba instructor. So I'm constantly fighting my battle with my stutter every day, and not letting it silence me. So I'm super thankful for videos like this for helpinh me get through my stutter the past 10 years. ❤️❤️❤️

You're not alone. I'm 22. I'm an introvert. I stutter and stammer. The fear of this has made me refrain from having conversations with people. I'm terrified of having phone calls with people for the first time. When I'm called to read out, I'm terrified. The last time in high school when I was selected to debate. I stammered and stuttered so bad. That was the last the last time I ever did that. I haven't practiced speaking for years now that my spoken English is rusty. I found solace in written words. The irony of it is that I'm a lawyer, a KZreadr and a weight loss coach. All these entails that I speak a lot. I'm trying everyday to be better. I am 22 now. I use to have a bad speech impediment where I couldn't even finish a sentence. It all started with a constant ear infection. Yes. A ear infection. It created a disconnect with me hearing, to what I am saying. Fast forward 6 years. I always had a speech therapist in both elementary and middle school years. As a young child, it greatly affected my social and mental health at the time where I was constantly teased to the point where I stopped talking all together, throughout my whole middle and part of my high school years. Today, I am talking and able to go through a conversation without severely stuttering. I trip up sometimes when I talk to fast, so slowing myself down helped me alot. I think rather then slowing down, we must allow the tounge to complete its motion while speaking. This make our mind more confident that we are able to speak and also it gives time to tounge and vocal cords to come in position for the next word. I have tried this and this has really worked like I tried to speak some complex words like Reservation, Conformation in normal speech with the technique and this relly worked. Slowing down is good but if we combined the above mentioned technique it can produce best results.

I noticed something when I am sick I no longer stutter because I’m so tired and fatigue to the point where I don’t concentrate on my speech and being shy and embarrassed in front of strangers like doctors and nurses So I used this mindset to start observating myself and it actually worked!!

what’s strange about my stutter is that I only stutter in front of my family and if i order food or something (under pressure) but i never stutter when i talk to my friends. my mum said mine is psychological because i only ever do it when i tense up and think about it.

I've never talked about it on Internet but I stutture scince I started to talk, I have this frustrating moments where you just can't express yourself at phone, ordering food or even thinking outloud. I've been through awfull presentations and people thinking I'm mentally ill and every thoses emotional moments when you lose faith .. BUT somehow I joind many students activites, I have made great friends and today I succeeded a job video-interview. I have no Idea where all this come from but I'm quit sure that giving up was never a solution. Do your best and you will get it at the end. All love to all stammers in the world ♥️♥️♥️

I found a solution for my stuttering: just concentrate while talking. It really works you just have to practice to concentrate while talking bc I was just bringing sentences that I memorised just by saying it a lot and that’s how I stuttered but I found the solution of concentrating while talking after a few months of stuttering and I want to help all of you guys to get through it bc I know how hard it is to not stutter I hope this helped

I do competitive debating and i love talking, I also dream to be a lawyer, im 20 now. But the thing is, I stutter. There are times where I can manage my stuttering, but there are times where i stutter a lot, to the point that i cant continue speaking, this caused me anxiety. It's depressing when you cant control something in you. But thanks for this! I'll try this in my next debate round. 😊

If you have time read it, else ignore :) My friend stutter a lot and honestly I don’t find anything wrong with that I feel like it’s just a special way for them to talk and to be known but he really hate it, he hate talking to people and he hate using his own voice for communication and I’ve tried giving him support mentally like I honestly never thought that the way he talks is detracting or unordinary I think of it as special bu the doesn’t and I am just trying my best to help but I just don’t know what to do 🤧🤧😭😭💕💫 I am his childhood friend and he always tell me if it was special then why can’t I make new friends, ITS YOU is my reply always because you should try putting yourself out there I know that it’s hard and it takes a lot of courage but you shouldn’t hide who you really are to sake acceptance, you are perfect and I mean a lot suffer more severe stuff but they fight and over come the power to defeat it BE STRONG and PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE, you only live once and you will regret being anti social just because of your stuttering. Some are willing to accept you the way you are so don’t let those who destroyed your confidence or YOU from someone who might give you all the support you want 🥰 I love you for who you are and even if no one loved you I am here and I know I might not be much but talk to me if you need it 😭😭💕 I really love his reactions when he is stuttering and trying his best to express his emotions 😂😭🥺💕 someone might feel that same way AND I KNOW THERE IS SOMEONE

Thanks for the video, I will surely implement this. Because I continuously think about stammering, whether I will able to talk in front of strangers or not. I do not stammer when I am alone or reading some book or article. I just stammer on phone call or in front of stangers or people with authority. And most importantly, I am afraid of not getting a job.

I have a stutter, a relatively slight stutter, but still a stutter. I actually tried this myself a few months ago and it has really helped - just talk slowly. You don’t have to be a rapper all the time. Also, for some reason, I stutter when I talk to my mom and my dad, however when I talk to my friends, haven’t stutter once.
