As a student with ADHD, here are some of my study tips that I use to get me to do work instead of playing animal crossing for a week straight!! - Create an area where you only do your work. I use to love going to cafes, libraries etc before lockdown as I just automatically associated it with getting work done. At my desk. I don't feel that same "work flow mindset" as I not only do work there, but I get eat, put make up on, watch KZread videos etc and so that work mindset I have have isn't as strong at my desk compared to other places. What I do instead is I put on some background cafe noise to trick myself into thinking I'm in a cafe and that has been working well for me! - To get me to start the task, I normally do like putting a bit of pressure on myself as before, I would go to college and I had a job so there wasn't a lot of time for me to study so I had this mentality of this is the only time I have to do my work and I would do my work but when I have more time, it no longer works so normally, I do a small task that doesn't require a lot of time but is me physically doing something like tidying my room or dancing, basically any task that gets me moving! for some reason, after that, I normally crack down and start some work! - Please take breaks!! I use to hyper focus sometimes on my work and would study 5 hours without breaks and so forest is a brill app and pomodoro method is also ace. - Turn work into play. Make what your doing more fun and engaging, it will stop it feeling/being boring as if its fun, you're less likely to get distracted / want to do something else! ( for me anyways ) Hope this is helpful!!

Hiiiii! loved your video!, i´m a perfectionist and a student with severe anxiety. I wanted to say to those who feel related to not keep on working and studying for hours and hours, work should be done, yes, but in a healthy way, always taking care of your mental health. Also i have panic attacks, i sometimes feel out of breath and in a loop, i recommend you taking time for doing other things, for example i usually paint or draw to distract myself from that feeling, remember that panic attacks are momentaneous and i have the luck of taking medication for that but if you can´t take pills, try to do what inspires you, what relaxes you, it can be reading, singing, drawing, etc. Finally for you, who might be reading this, YOU ARE ABOVE ALL, you are not defined by grades or how quick you deliver an assignment, you are you and stop comparing to others because it´s stupid to compare a dolfin with an ant by doing the same activity right? take care of yourself and pleeeease don´t drink coffee!!!! love u guys and i hope this might be helpful to someone in the world. XOXO :)

Thank you 🙏 I feel like I might be coming down with anxiety because I’m getting restless more frequent with studying and going to classes. I can’t help but feel like my grades are everything because everyone around me looks up to me as the perfect student when I am actually becoming worse at school over time. I think it’s because my anxiety doesn’t let me do the work early since I am afraid to do it bad, so I end up procrastinating and then doing it last minute terribly... Any tips? I still have a few more years of college I can’t give up now.

there's nothing like that real sense of pressure on you. false deadlines and real deadlines just aren't the same. if i made a false deadline, it would be extended to the initial date. i wouldn't be able to take a false deadline seriously. not good under pressure and, yet, i still do this to myself.. *sigh*

hi! a student with mdd and gad here! because of my anxiety, my mind drifts off and i start to dissociate. so i usually need to ground myself so that i can focus on the task that i need to do. that means i do this one task that i only do when i study. for me, i have this specific snowglobe that i only shake when i study. I'd shake it, focus on the flow of the fake snow until it all settles to the bottom. after that, it means its time for me to start working. various thoughts can also interrupt my session and distract me or discourage me, and for that i write it down on a scrap piece of paper and throw it away. it'll make the thoughts coherent, and the act of throwing it out makes it feel like it's trash and that i shouldnt listen to it. thats not all that i do,, but i hope this helps!

i don’t think seo mentioned this in her video, but you should always set S.M.A.R. T. goals, SMART standing for - specific - measurable - achievable - relevant - time-bound these are the things that you need to keep in mind when you set a goal for yourself. seo covers this first topic in the first section of the video (1:12). you should specify what you want to do (what chapter and page instead of a broad objective). this’ll help you achieve your goals faster. the second letter is set an achievable goal. setting a measurable goal can help you better measure your progress throughout completing that goal and stay motivated and focused. the third letter is to set an achievable goal. it’s fine to establish a goal that challenges your capabilities, but don’t make a goal that’s too out of your capabilities. ask yourself how realistic your goal is and how you can accomplish the goal. the fourth letter is to set a goal that is relevant to you. does this goal matter and is it worthwhile for you to do it? the fifth and final letter is to set a goal that is time bound. seo also mentions this in her video (1:52), but you should set a deadline for your homework / assignments and even for non-related school things, like taking care of your laundry or something. if the goal is too far away, you’re more likely to underestimate the amount of time you have, which can lead to procrastinating. set a deadline for you to look forward to. this motivates you to complete the assignment faster and to keep other less important tasks from sidetracking you from your goal. if you implement these into your everyday life, you will eliminate vague and “wooly” goals from your mind and set better and more efficient goals that encourage you to be productive and complete your daily tasks that you may have omg i just spent 15 minutes writing a comment on a youtube video that’s better than the essays that i give to my teachers tf. anyway, that’s all! i just wanted to give a bit of info because i noticed seo didn’t really talk about it much in the video. hope you have a great day!

Hi Seo, I'm Conna. It's been a while not visiting your channel that I used to watch every single day back then when I was in uni. I discover your channel in 2017 and tbh your channel successfully motivate me to work better on my study, to be organized, to tidying up my notes and basically your drawing, Lil stickers, calligraphy and your aesthetic in general really inspire me so much. Just wanna say that I'm truly proud of you for being confident and showing your face now. There are times when you said couple of time that you're not comfortable to showing your face and better to have voice over video with soothing background music but look at how much you grow and the confidence that you've and for that improvement, I'm so proud proud proud of being your subscriber and watching you grow. Fly higher Seo, gonna support you for all the positivity and motivation that you brought through your content. Loves, Conna💫

Okay but the fact that you listed procrastination as a symptom of mental illness made me feel so relieved! My therapist and I concluded around a year ago that mine comes actually from my depression and ever since I'm trying to get better, a little day by day. But people on the outside rarely see it, they just see me as a massive procrastinator, not able to get my work done (or barely on time). It's so important to raise awareness that procrastination is not just being lazy or a bad habit. Thank you so much for that. ♥

I strongly believe I have ADHD and I've been looking for ways to study at home. Recently I've tried to study in short sessions and it's been working quite well so far (I need some ambience noise like rain/café noises etc)! What also works for me is going to a café (which I can't do right now) and study there (time limit of an hour). That way I know that that place is for studying and studying only.
