Because wherever you are, there's your practice. Like Ramana Maharshi (and other masters have) said, if you think your problems are because of a place, then when you move to a different place, you'll have a different set of problems. The universe is only in our mind; what's "out there" is only a projection of what's in us. 😊

This is kinda where I’m at. I do have a deep aching desire to leave my job. But there’s nowhere better to go so I’m waiting and using the work environment as spiritual practice. It’s been years and it’s still a roller coaster. I’m aware yes. I’m frequently finding myself rapidly breathing, judging, in emotional distress, etc. it’s a very challenging environment. Hostile, violent, loud, alarms going off everywhere, shouting, stinky, hundreds or thousands of people in a race rushing nervously, high emotions, cops with guns, hyper vigilance, etc. I work with bullies and cruel people and to stay conscious and not let them rub off on me is so hard. I’m so tired. It’s such a negative place. It’s like I’m stuck there. So idk what to do. I’m believing that when it’s time somehow someway I’ll leave that job. How wonderful!!!

Great comment.. I love solitude, I love just being, my natural default is bliss, joy, just breathing - your words ‘a place where most fear to tread’ accords with my observations, because I see so many people, relentlessly seeking company, & talking, all the talking so much, I can’t understand it, my idea of suffocation - I love ideas, all knowledge, nature, the world - I do listen a lot to others, & it seems like to a lot of people they simply are the subject, they don’t seem to see or focus outside of themselves, at the sheer expanse of everything else, the wonder, basically, & whilst talking, it’s not about the actual subject spoken, or only a small percentage is, the rest, it’s their vast hinterland of themselves weaving through verbally, non-verbally, as if they are really conversing with themselves, because they’re not really present, they’re navigating their internal perception they are receiving of their self’s reception in the other (based on their hinterland ie the past, their past) & simultaneously talking themselves into being in the present, whilst & fighting off a phantom fear of disappearing in the next moment, something like that- i can’t really understand it & that would seem a great personal blessing from what you wrote, so thank you.

@@BetulaaahThank you for sharing your experience. It is a journey to discover who and what we are. Solitude gives us the space to go deeper. Way past the thinking mind, perceiving ourselves as a part of nature. No longer isolated with our thoughts, fears, and belief systems, we join with nature. This is our victory, we join with the rest of nature. From there, we go deeper still, witnessing what the mind desires, and what the inner body would prefer. What the mind wants to consume, and what the body uses to produce its best results it can for us. Feeling younger, energy in abundance, sleeping like babies, and growing older gracefully without pain or medications...🍏🍎🍐🍊🍌🍉🍇🍓🍈🍒🍑🍍🍅🥝 🥑🥒🥗🌞

As someone who is experiencing the same, I know how much of a boost it can be to meet somebody likeminded, However theres a different between your life and your life situation, maybe its hard to accept that there is no need for anything new, depression arises when you are against something, maybe try to accept it and see how that feels.

This was great, but I wish Eckhart addressed the first concern more that the man had, which seemed to be: when meditating, or "practicing stillness", the mind keeps coming in and telling him there are more interesting things to be involved with....(sometimes for me, "stillness" seems blank, especially contrasted with "FUN!!" and "EXCITEMENT!!!")

  • @edwinnixon6578

Good point. I am interested in the answer to this too... Maybe the answer is something like this: Once you have achieved true inner stillness, you can go out and do almost anything while carrying that inner peace with you. Your whole life becomes your "spiritual practice" even when doing interesting and enjoyable things.

When they said she was going crazy, she was awakening. When they said that she was isolating, she was healing. When they said she was acting funny, she was growing. When they said that she had changed, she was evolving. When they said she did not care anymore, she finally realized that her peace lives within. When they said he was becoming distant, he was learning to trust himself. When they said he was losing touch, he was finding his inner voice. When they said he was being stubborn, he was asserting his boundaries. When they said he was aloof, he was finding solitude and serenity. When they said he was being unrealistic, he was dreaming bigger.
