If you have any local thrift stores or junk shops, try looking for boards there. They won't be THE BEST quality but with a bit of searching you'll be able to find a decent one for a rlly good price

This is probably the best tutorial on KZread because it actually shows you how to progress to doing the powerslide. Despite the powerslide clearly being the best way to brake and most useful, it is by far the hardest. It is easily an intermediate to advanced technique and this tutorial teaches it really well even tho it's really short. Although one thing i think you should include that you dont need to necessarily get that 90 angle. Only if youre going really fast do you need it. The issue with doing it at 90 degrees and going slow is that itll catapult you forward which can be dangerous, I twisted my ankle from it once.

Those chips are the only thing I can relate to 😫😂

Dude this is one of the few techniques that i got down in one session. Was very stoked and tried it going down a hill and i was pleased to say that i controlled my speed. It was a slowe pace, wasnt going 20mph

Worth noting that this always works well on a snowboard when you are learning . As far as on a board, the firmness in your wheels comes into play here in a major way. Be ready to lean back way further on softer wheels, especially old-school urethane like Kyrps or Bones.

Step 1: Make sure you have formula 4s, bones will work but it’ll get a flatspot more easily

i've notice that hockey and FA boards always chip around the edges of the nose and tail. Never skated those decks, but know johnny likes those decks

I wish you covered the most important part: where is my weight. Whenever I try to power slide I lean back kind of like a FS 180 and try to push my back truck forward and it doesn't really work out

Bigger softer wheel make it harder. I've been trying to do it while going down hill to reduce speed and it just wouldn't slide although it worked on flat ground. I guess it's wheel and surface combo. do not give up when you can’t balance on the board it will feel as easy as walking after a few days

Not really. If you get the 93a peralta dragon wheels they are smooth riding but still slide

Depends on the wheel and the setup. I have some 83a Otangs that are grippy for carving but will still kick out and slide easily once they are nice and broken in. The shape is also designed for slides even though the durometer is soft. That durometer on a wheel with a thin outer lip would not break free nearly as easily if at all because it’s designed to flex when you turn and put pressure on them which makes it far grippier. So basically there is more to it than just the hardness of the wheel
