ABOUT ME:
Thanks for visiting my channel, I hope you enjoyed the video! I founded Caterpillar Cross Stitch in 2015 when I tried desperately for months to find a modern baby sampler my mum could stitch for new baby Felicity that would fit in with her simple, contemporary nursery. I love cross stitch, running, baking fruit cakes, drinking gin, eating salted caramel ice cream and most crafts!
See you soon and happy stitching! Sally x

Thank you for this!! I wanted to use a crochet thread for part of my piece for texture and make it kinda pop but it was not looking good with two strands. You're the first person who managed to actually explain the pinning part to me and I just anchored my thread, yay! 🎉

Great video Marie-lots of excellent tips. I’ll definitely have to take the plunge and try stitching with one thread on a higher count fabric.

I love the top secret pin stitch method! I don't worry about the security of pin stitches with two strands, but I am not always confident with a single strand, esp with silk floss. This is going to be my new go-to!

Thanks so much Marie for another wonderful video with lots of helpful tips and tricks , even knaughty ones 🤫. You've made me really want to give 38 and 40 count evenweave a go! I have just finished a Christmas present stitched using a Riolis kit called Herbs. Even though it was only on 14ct Aida, I was scared when I discovered that, along with ordinary crosses, it called for single strand stitches, single strand half crosses, 3-strand half crosses, double strand french knots and mixed colour strands. But I dived in and the texture and colour of the finished piece is really lovely. So you're right when you tell us not to be scared! 💚

I love your videos they are so helpful. I used to stitch 30 yrs ago but quit when I started working. I have discovered floss tubes the last few months. What a new world. Your videos gave me the courage to try linen, I actually liked it. I have been stitching with one thread on my current project. But now I will try your pin stitch method. Thsnknyou

Thank you very much Sally. Your video has made me want to get back to my cross stitching as I have several projects in my stash. I used to do cross stitches but got side tracked due to my foray into quilting. Thank you for the inspiration! Merry Christmas and a Happy 2023 to you.

How do you end your stitches when you are going to run out of thread

  • @CaterpillarCrossStitch

Push the needle (and end of thread) through a few stitches on the back of your fabric

there is a way to use a loop stitch with one thread. go down in front on top left corner, hold onto it. come up in top right corner, pull thread up ensuring you don't pull initial thread out, go back down in top right creating a loop, now go up in bottom left corner and bring thread through the loop created and pull. last step, bring thread back down through top right corner and pull through just as you would with traditional loop. hope this makes sense
