Yes. This is advice I give to all the residents in the program I work at in Anesthesia. Please, all interested in medicine, STAY MOTIVATED!! Never give up!

I had brain surgery 2 years ago, started nursing school 6 months later (had to finish undergrad), and now I’m in semester 5/6. I’m studying right now. (I’m in my study break.) Thank you for the motivation!

There's one guy who won a ton of marathons and when they asked him how do you keep going when you feel like giving up, he said 'I tell myself I'll run just 15 minutes more and that's it. Everybody can run 15 minutes. And if I feel like giving up after 15 minutes I tell myself again, ok just 15 minutes more'

Hi Dr. Parker -I went to NYU med school then dropped out cause I got a great offer in a other field. Now I'm ready to return and I'm really frightened about being focused, motivated and the amount of study since I've kind of falling out of practice. But your videos are very helpful so I'm going to give it the old College try again. For those who don't know, NYU is now tuition-free and they have a 3-year program for doctors for those interested. The part where you mention the constant moving is so true. We’re currently under hurricane watch with hurricane Dorian expected anytime now. My college is closed tomorrow through probably Sun/Mon and I was sitting in the library at around 11pm and there was these constant groups of people who figured “who’s gonna be studying when the school is shut down??” As they talked at normal levels and even yelled in the library because they didn’t see anyone (I was a floor above) I was the only person in the library studying chemistry lmao I’ve made too much progress with chem to stop just because of Dorian.

I can relate to this concept of congruence. I hate running to but I always start of with a light jog and end up doing a whole mile.
