    I've just been watching Fran and Rich from Floating Our Boat and they are leaving their permanent mooring to go continuously cruising again. Their mooring was hired from a farmer and had a tiny bit of land where they grew veggies and herbs, and Rich built a landing which they used as an outdoor patio. I thought of you 2 when I saw your video about the small holding of your friend Jack. I think this would be an ideal place for you to have a base during the pregnancy and when the little one comes along. They said in one of their vlogs how much it was - not much and you pay monthly so you could try it out to see if you like it without too much expense. I think there was a tap on site and also think there was power (small charge) if you wanted, but not sure of that. I think it is on the Trent and Mersey near the Langkashire border, but not sure of that either - I'd really advise you to have a look at their vlogs so you can see more.

    Best to keep things simple and be happy as you are! We're having quite a good year already with the mushrooms, some magical rings of field mushrooms have popped up recently. It has rained almost constantly since the start of July which has helped them come along. Should be a good year of chanterelles right through the autumn!

    Chanterelles are the best mushrooms 💛 you found some very nice ones. Fun fact: in Poland they're called either "kurki" (little hens) or "pieprzniki" (pepper mushrooms). Chanterelle omelet or scrambled eggs with chanterelles are a great late summer lunch. They're lovely on a pizza, in a risotto, as a filling for pierogi or a tart (fancy!). My personal favourite is pork fillet or loin in a creamy peppery chanterelle sauce, served over tagliatelle, Silesian dumplings (similar to gnocchi) or simply over rice. They can be stored for winter: dried, preserved in vinegar or frozen (after blanching). Bilberries are so much better than American blueberries, so much more flavour. Lovely in sweet pierogi served with whipped cream, or as a filling for jagodzianki (sweet yeast buns). It's a bit early for porcinis, especially with all the rainy weather we had this year. BTW I'll take the £10M and lethal snail. I'd put a tracker on it and let it try to catch me 😁 Just one question: what happens when the snail dies?

  • @thistinylife

    @thistinylife

    11 ай бұрын

    Don't think the snail can die?! The tracker seems like a cheat haha but no rules were given so maybe it's allowed 🤔😂 Chanterelles are soooo good aren't they, on a pizza sounds a great shout. We're planning a firepit pizza this week if the weather holds out, so we'll pop a few on for sure now! Love the name Kurki for them, might have to adopt that!

    @@thistinylife Snails do die! The small ones live about 2 to 5 years, the big ones can live up to 25. Considering how slow snails are, even the tracker would be a bit of an overkill 😂 but since the technology is available, why not use it? Try the pizza with a white sauce and sautéed chanterelles, add a generous amount of black pepper when preparing them. I'm salivating just thinking about it 🤣 It's "kurka" for a single one, "kurki" is plural.

    The picture doesnt show porcini mushrooms but leccinum species (which is a bolete but not a porcini). And sometimes its good practice to take one of the mushrooms with you for determination. The correct phrase is never eat something unless youre 100 percent sure.
