Cat clickers aren’t as loud as dog clickers. They don’t make them in box form since they’ll scare cats but are still loud enough to do the job for the pups😍

This is brilliant (and thank you for a concise video, much appreciated!) I pet sit for a dog who’s treats are in a jar on the mantle, dead center of the living room. She’s given treats randomly if she sits on her mat next to the fireplace. You guessed it, every single time I get up to cross the room she leaps up, runs to the mat, and begs. I’ve gotten to where I sit in the dining room and watch tv on my computer much of the time to avoid this behavior.

Awe. You could say everyone looks dumb if the steps aren't broken up enough to have success. Like if you went to an advanced dance class, and they try to show you a complex move... in 1 step... instead of taking the time to break it down so you master it... Its kind of like that with dog training. When you break it down into small achievable steps, the dog looks smart and talented.

You are very educational. I wish you had more content on anxious around people dogs, because no clicker for the life of me can help me with that. I've got a rescue Great Dane, who doesn't trust people and barks when they try to touch him(ONLY lets them touch him after he's met them a few times) and I want to teach him the concept that ALL people are good, not just those he's met many times. How do you deal with that?

I have a video on demand on reactivity- dogmantics.com/product/reactivity-a-program-vod/ I work mainly on lowering arousal, so I dont generally use a clicker for that - unless the dog is like my BC splash and super chill with the clicker. I also have a "free videos" section on my website on reactivity.

I suggest getting help from a trainer who uses positive reinforcement to help you. As you can do training setups where the trainer can use decoy dogs and people to practice with rather than train out and about which is most likely too much for your dog. It is important to manage and prevent the dog from barking until the training starts and during the training by keeping enough distance between your dog and people that your dog feels safe and calm. This might mean that you have to take the dog out on a leash and harness when going in your own yard to go to the bathroom, so that the dog cannot run to the fence to see what is going on. I am sorry you are having this issue but it is very common for herding breeds.

I've worked with Goxxly doing remote sessions and he recommended watching this video for clicker training. I am in the middle of doing puppy school. I told the trainer I wanted to teach my dog clicker training but he didn't recommend it for puppies and I thought that was odd. My Abby is a between 6-7 months (she's a rescue so not 100% sure). Is it too early for a clicker? Is it too late for one? I really love your channel, you and the positive trainers have changed my attitude 100%.

I make a clicking-like sound with my tongue, to draw puppy's wandering attention to me. Then I use hand or head signal, for him to do this or that. Then, giving the puppy more time to go through certain training demands, I also reduce the number of treats. I have seen too many people wanting super-dogs in matter of weeks or months, and then keep frantically clicking and feeding them with treats for everything they want from poor dogs. That creates lots of problems.

I suggest putting down food and then leaving the room, you can get camera to see what hes doing too. Then when you present food from hand, after hes started eating, Put the food down, and then move away from the food. let him eat it, then move further away, you might need more space to do this if you have small rooms in your house. This video shows how our movement toward the dog with food or a toy can actually make the dog not want to eat or play - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aWWImK1yebifgJM.html

You are great , if the dog trainer use the clicker , also the owner of the dog has to use a clicker?

  • @kikopup

    @kikopup

    9 ай бұрын

No, you can train dogs to understand different ways of communicating. After initially training a behavior you dont really need to "mark" the moment the dog does it right because they know the behavior and know it will be reinforced. In fact you dont even need to use a sound to mark behavior, as long as you can quickly deliver the treat to the dog for doing the behavior they will learn. The delivery of the treat becomes the way of saying yes or clicking. I like to use the clicker in my videos so I can talk to the viewers as well as talk to the dog with the clicker, if you watch my videos where Im using the verbal marker good or yes, I have to stop talking to then mark the dog for what they are doing.

When I had a very energetic dog, I found more success after tiring her out. After she got the chance to run around and exercise and play fetch, she had burned some of that energy. I also used her favorite kibble as the reward, but that absolutely doesn't work for every animal, she just happened to LOVE it. If your dog is very VERY food motivated in general, you might want to look into foraging toys for dogs- they help exercise the brain, and slow the dog down from vacuuming up their food all in one go. :)

You can totally do that. This video explains how you can use a verbal marker and still use all my videos kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2p2j7NtXdHXfso.html I like to use a clicker especially when I make youtube videos so I can talk to you and talk to the dog at the very same time. If I was using a verbal marker I have to stop talking to mark the dog, and adding voice over is hard. For a regular person and my clients, I like the clicker because it distances yourself from the training. It becomes easy to see what exactly one is reinforcing. When we use are voices I feel like its harder to pay attention to our timing if that makes sense. I personally like to use the clicker for very precise behaviors, tiny muscle movements, or sudden changes in behavior. For example teaching a leave it where the dog is interested in something and then suddenly you see them turn to you and you click that, or for heelwork where the dogs head moves into the very correct position. For most of the behaviors and tricks I train I use just a verbal marker. But I find teaching people and dogs who are new to positive training the clicker helps both the teacher and learner.

Thanks for asking :) I am not doing reviews or being sponsored by products, I want to focus on training.

I am so sorry for your loss. I didn't even know that youtube did notifications. I totally understand. Please take care of yourself. I had a beagle for 17 years, and whenever I see a beagle or even talk about beagles I start to cry ... Even when I am presenting in front of people.

Yea. It sucks. This is why I do not talk about it. Otherwise I start to have tears. Every time I see a movie with dogs I get sad. So any movie with dogs, I just ignore and move on. Thank you for your words.

Does clicker training work on your pitts? I'm wanting to use it with mine and could use help from someone who's used it on one

I don't know... I mean, this is great and all but every time I come across this, it just makes more logical sense to me that when the dog hears the "click-clack"..it is doing something wrong. To know, "shit, I cant be doing this" or "I better stop doing what I'm doing." "CLICK-CLACK"

Using your idea would only train the dog to stop doing something wrong. This wouldn't actually train/encourage the dog to perform good/desirable actions. The clicker's used for positive reinforcement. In short, do you want to train the dog to do something or avoid doing something?
