    It should be as soon as he starts to put his bottom on the ground you click (reward). In other words, once the dog starts to do the action, you reward immediately. Timing is important.

    Will a dog think its getting a treat every time you click? Will it be the only way the dog will learn? If my dog does something I like and I don't click will they be confused? Will they always think they are getting a treat every time they do something I ask or will they only listen to me if I click and have a treat?

    The moment the desired action happens. Such as for the lie down command. You click the moment the dog is flat on the ground. For the sit, you click the moment his butt is on the ground.

    To start, you must understand about your canine's behavior and treat your canine as the way he or she thinks if you want to train your dog when you take him or her out for a walk.

    I have a big question. I have a Short haired fox terrier, hes really smart and loves to learn. we will be moving intolerancia a small apartment soon and I think the clicker method will bebe great for us. my question is, will the clicker be necessary forever? will he only respond with the clicker for the rest of his life?

    +Diego Mentz No, there is a transition phase. The clicker is used to teach him what you are after- then the transition goes from saying the word after the behavior/click, then at the same time as the behavior/click, and then before, where you cue for the behavior. The clicker is a tool to help the dog figure out exactly what he did that was correct.

    I thought classical conditioning only works when there is a conditioned stimulus followed by the unconditioned stimulus, in this method she clicks and feeds at the same time... meaning no association would be made?

    It's a noise the dog associates the reward with. So it knows that it's done the right action to get the reward (after a click us heard a treat comes, so doggo thinks I'll contact think I did again and again. Then you can add the command word, sit, stay etc..you'd have to read up on it yourself. My mind fuzzy on meds. Pavlovs bell..they even used children for experimenting the association thingy.

  • @SharonLKirby

    @SharonLKirby

    Haddad, click is precise for dog and does not include variety of people's tones of voice or repetitions dog has to figure out and click also allows for more precise timing. Click (or succinct verbal or sound marker) gives dog info about exactly what dog did to earn the reward (e.g., sit click for butt hits ground) and also predicts that reward is coming once association is made. Cues or commands are not what causes the behavior you train. The behavior is a consequence of the reward the dog gets. Professional trainers typically do not add a cue until the dog is already offering the behavior. Common misconception is that cue causes the behavior; instead consequence causes the dog to do a behavior -- or in the alternative, not do a behavior.

  • @gecko4310
    @gecko43109 жыл бұрын

    I also noticed you gave him a treat when he is sniffs the blue treat bag. He is making the association that every time he sniffs the bag, you give him a treat. I would wait until he settles before you click and give him a treat. its almost as if he was training you.

    This happens sometimes when the clicker is too loud.Try having someone clicking it in a different room and you feed your dog a treat as soon as he hears the click.Slowly get the other person to come close to you and your dog but be careful dont make things happen too fast cuz u may confuse him :) .You can also try higher value treats (real meat,cheese maybe? ) you can also use some "clay" in your clicker so it doesnt make that much sound. I hope you understand what I mean by clay,that sticky thing we use to stick papers to our walls? :s I dont know how you call them in English :/

  • @ciri151

    Sephora Koumba You tell the dog to do something like sit. and right after he sits you click and give him a treat. So the dog knows right after he hears the click he will get rewarded.
