Dogumentary TV has teamed up with Oscar Mora of Elevated Canine Academy to bring you Dog Training Fundamentals. This series is an introduction series into dog training. In lesson one, Oscar goes over "charging your markers", which tells the dog when he is going to be rewarded. It also helps you as a trainer gauge a dog's interest in working with you. Great video. I like that you used a puppy with no training. A lot of videos use previously trained dogs making the process appear quicker and easier than it really is

@@Sureshkumar-nc7mb honestly I would use his puppy food. They eat anything haha! Nothing special. I'd have greenie treats for the bigger praises like if he didn't jump on anyone and stayed sitting while being pet.

I have a 12 week old German shepherd puppy. She will basically learn anything as long as there is a food reward. The problem I'm having is: when the training session is done she is defiant, testy and somewhat aggressive. Does the opposite of what she is told, barks and chews. If you have any advice can you please let me know what I need to do? Thanks

Will there ever be a time when treats are not needed anymore? Because it seems like the dog is invested in the reward, not the owner. (I'm not trying to be critical by the way) - I'm just wondering if its possible to train a dog without needing treats on hand at all times? Thanks!

Google the phrase above. It's a very helpful guide on pack leader training which doesn't require treats. Takes a little more effort than treat training, but your dog will look to you for commands because he wants to... not just for a reward. I believe both styles have their place, it just depends what kind of relationship you want to build with your dog. Hope this helps.
@Mydrowsydragon

Yes, you only use treats to train. Once they know the command, then you go to a lottery system, and then stop treating that command. When you start the lottery system, add in a new command.
@shelbelee

Looking into “fading the lure”. I’ll give an example with sit. So you first clicked train and treat with sit. You have the treat and clicker in the same hand. Assuming they’ve been introduced the behavior, you cue the sit using verbal and visual cue, you click to mark the behavior, and then you reward with treat from the hand you signaled from. To fade out the treat (or lure), you hold treats in both hands. So they still see the treat from the hand you ask from. After you’ve marked the behavior, you only reward with the treat from the other hand they didn’t see. Then they learn to expect the treat from a place they haven’t seen. Once they’ve done that, you stop using a treat in both hands and only the one they can’t see. Then after they master that, you only treat after introducing new layers to the behavior such as distance, duration, diversity or distraction. Once they’ve mastered those they will never need treats again.

For me it's been helpful to get less and less treats the more they start to love me. I replace the treats with praise/affection over time

It's so funny w the puppy, he looks like he's pushing buttons to get the treat. He's processing. He's like "wait... did my jumping on his leg get me that treat? I'll try it again! Nope that wasn't it" sits down...and he looks up in puzzlement and gets the treat and he's like "bingo! That's the magic treat dispensing button!" LoL
Great vid, thanks for sharing!!!

YES! More training videos.
Definitely need more of these. Keep then coming please.
When first bringing a newest family member, dog or cat, etc.. take a cloth and rub softly on any pee or poop they've left behind. Then softly rub it on any pad or area where you want your them to relieve themselves.. They'll love you for it. Help them help you. That's love.

3 жыл бұрын
@@jpsakyi3839 yea basically they go there and smell their own smell and go oh this must be where I went last time so guess I'll go there again. It's common practice for any animal. You can potty train even rabbits, ferrets and rats all by doing this same trick. Move their poo/pee to the area you want them to go. I've trained all of the above that way and dogs and cats. 👌
@Carlie_flower

@@nehalshaikh9620 take the dog out every couple hours and when they go pee/poo outside give them a snack and really praise them saying "good boy/girl. Yes. Potty. Potty" so they hear the praise and the new word "potty". later on once they learn to go outside consistently you can ask them "potty" and they will go to the door or bark or signal to you some other way if they need to go.

That cane corso was amazing! The breed isn’t really the kind of dog that always wants to please as a shepherd would be, they’re usually a bit stubborn too. This one was great, super focused. Thumbs up👍🏻

Elevated Canine what treats/kibble are you using? I have a 8 mo GSD and he is food motivated, I’ve been using the bite sized treats but some of your videos say to use a larger treat. And I’m not sure how good the bite size treats are when we do multiple short sessions in a day for him.
