I have only been playing with Chicken's and Bee's thus far; You have convinced me to add pigs to the farm as my third animal type. I just need to get into potatoes as have been farming fields of the other crop types for a number of in game years and have plenty of stock in silo. I also like the idea of using slurry to spray the fields; fertilizer on my 4 large fields is quite an expensive business. Subscribed.

Just be careful with the feed ratio, buying pig feed is the best way to go, however you you want to make your pig feed there are mods out there that are better for turning the raw crops into pig feed, makes life easy.

@@affarmz - thanks for the reply and to be fair, the amount of silo'd crops would be more than enough $$$ to cover pig feed. At least with the base game buildings for pigs, that is what i would expect them to be in; as for cows and sheep - i can only ever picture them in fields (cows in sheds during winter). I hope Devs introduce a slaughter house at some point as the restaurant in Elm Creek only caters for vegetarians in the main - lol. Would be good if a trout farm was available. I have barely looked at mods too. Am on Console.

You can feed pigs just base and grain. They gain health slower than feeding them all categories but will get to full health. I suggest corn and barley cause they yield more per acre. Also sell the pigs earlier they eat too much as adults vs how much value they gain.

Great guide! A form of farming to really consider. Would the balance of food be messed up if you offloaded harvested crops right at the pig sty instead of offloading at the silo in the interim? As long as the other food sources have sufficient levels, it shouldnt really matter, right?

The issue is the combined quantity of the feed types, meaning all the bars add together to get the total capacity, and because the harvested crop come in at different times the ration can get out of whack, is doable but you just need to monitor it so its balanced, just don't every fill one food type to the max, because that screws thing right up lol

that would be cool, I think pc have mods for that however they aren't apart of the base game. Goes against the E for everybody game rating.

Can you explain why you originally started with just 13? Sorry if I missed it. I have same pig pen and started with 36. Because I had the big transporter. When the reproduced I got 117 male and 117 female. No idea why though 🤦‍♂️ Also on your video it seems you just have pigs none are labelled female male.n

Hi Jake, the reason I chose 13 was that is what the fliegel noah will carry. so when the pig reproduce the reproduce in batches of 13 to make it easy to transport, if you use the big trailer 36 is is a good option as the pigs will produce in groups of 36. There are no male and female pigs unlesss there is a pc mod for that, its a bit weird but the pigs are just pigs, all that changes is the age groups. The UI menu clusters the pigs of the same breed by the same age. so unless you have mixed and match breeds that might be it. From my testing its easier to manage if the pigs are all the same breed and starting age, hope that helps.

Must be something my end. I had female and male. All same breed. I chose 36 but from 1 reproduce I got 234 piglets haha

could be you are on a different map and using differnet mods, i know pc has enhanced animals mod that deepens the gameplay for animals, and breeding etc. I'm on console we don't have that one lol, are you on PC?@@jakelewis7233

It annoys me that pigs and chickens don’t reproduce 6+ animals per reproduction cycle… Also giants rating should be changed from E for everyone to D for Delicious… Especially now we have rice farming, we should get a Chinese takeaway restaurant with bbq pork belly, and Peking duck recipes. Nom nom nom!
