you need to place the manure pit that is under silo extensions not the one that is in just silo

If you want to grow your own pig food, I did a test on the ratio to plant/seed, assuming you are using the same field width, for each 1x3m row of Sugarbeat, seed 26x3m Barley, 34x3m Canola, 61x3m Sorghum, the Barley Straw will be more than enough for what you need. You can use the 6m and 12m seeders to do less passes, but that is the ratio. I used Sorghum instead of Corn so all crops use the same header. Also if you use the pull behind root harvesters you have to use narrow tyres if crop destruction is on. I used this ratio on Elm Creek Field 33 - Sorghum/Barley and Field 34 - Canola, with 1 strip of Sugarbeats on the road in between them and that lasted 5 months for 270, 6-10 month old pigs.

The food seems to be functioning perfectly fine, it's a headache, since you have to manually increment everything, but I believe it is intended to be this way.

I don’t think it’s a bug, it makes sense that there is a finite amount of room for food, it just will take a little bit of time to get used to it

I agree, its not a bug. It's just more work for players to keep track of fill levels. As long as all 4 types are present in the feeder the pigs will be healthy

It's not a bug. That's how it should be in my opinion. The feeding area holds 20000 liters..if you put in 19000 liters of corn, you filled that area up almost to the limit so where are you going to put 7000 MORE liters of, say, barley? It's physicaly impossible, you only have 1000 liters left until you fill it up, everything else would overspill...same goes with the silos in the game. If silo hoolds 300000 liters, that's it! You can't put in 300000 liters of wheat in it and then another 300000 liters of canola, it's full, the end...same as with TMR, you have a certain amount of space, you need to mix it proportionally to get to the correct mix. Exactly the same with pigs, cows, etc...

I have been following your how to videos for as long as you’ve been making them. Always excellent information! Thank you! It’s amusing to see you get aggravated! Lol That’s why it’s always best not to use the biggest wagon you have to feed with. And it shows up the difference between real farmers and gamers who play this farm game. I haven’t began playing FS 22 yet as I am waiting for all the bugs to get worked out. In FS19 I use a small wagon so I can equally ration out the feed needs to keep them closely balanced for all of my different livestock.

I think the food is as intended. The silo in real life would only hold a certain max amount and you could fill it with only one feed type and there wouldn't be some magical shut off so other crops would fit. Maybe someone should mod a pen with multiple silos and a auto mixer. Would of been nice if giants would of included a mill for making pig food since they set it up more realistic.

Yeah farmer Klein just didn’t understand the mechanics of how feeding works. It works as intended and farmer kleins explanation makes no sense at all!

There seems to be a lot of confusion over feeding. I just ran an experiment I gave my pigs 12,000l of each of the 4 food groups for a total of 48,000l. I ran the game for six months. At the end of that time they had eaten 16,252l. They had eaten 8125l of corn for 50%. They ate the other food groups in the exact right ratio. So all you need to do is be sure to always have at least some of each type of food, and the pigs will take care of the mix ratio for you. I guess it has been quite a while since I played fs19 and forgot that you could completely fill each food group. I just assumed you would have to save room in the total food for a little of each kind.

Hey, thanks for the video. Never played FS before 22 came out. In my perspective the current way of feeding seems to make more sense than how FS19 is described. The food storage area in the barns is finite, and if you fill up the whole thing with one type of food, it makes sense to me that you can’t fit anything else in. I would like to see a mod come out to be able recover the food put in there in case you messed up.

Yes i think Farmer Klein is just not understanding how the mechanics work. It’s fairly simple in that the total pig food is 100% and the categories before that just show how that is broken down. If you were able to put in extra barley on top of that the total would be over 100% which is impossible or at least requires spilling it all over the floor!

Personally, I like the new feeding system over FS19. Seems more realistic to me. And the automatic watering system makes life easier and also more realistic. I remember on FS17 I had 1500 cattle and to top off the water trough, I calculated into gallons, it took enough water to over fill a Olympic sized pool 😆. The trough looked like 3 half barrels welded together, 150gal tops. FS22 is the most realistic version Giants has produced. Loving it... Thanks again Farmer K, Stay Safe and FARM ON!!

I think the feed/food is great the way it is makes you think what you need. The old way fill everything up and wait was boring and nothing like farming. It works like the TMR you don’t just put max of everything in you have to mix it up. Going to store crops in grain bins and use when needed again like real farming

If we are trying to simulate real hog farming...sows should be having litters of around 7 piglets twice a year.

I agree with other commenters. I think the food is working as intended and is also better than before. More realistic the better. IMO 👍 I do agree with you that it would be nice to be able to remove certain feed but I also understand that once it’s blended that would be pretty difficult.

I apologize if I missed it but do you have to put down separate manure extensions for every pen or can you have just one for the livestock area? Do the cows and pigs share?

Didnt try sharing. Not sure you would really know unless you knew the exact amount of manure produced per day by each pen.

Helpful video. So the manure heap must be for storing manure only where the extensions are an add on for the sheds. For the food limits, the one with 34k max limit i imagine just add roughly no more then 8k of each food type. The pigs running around though the fences and buildings are silly 😂

OMG THANK YOU for figuring out the manure issue I was having. Now if you could somehow magically solve my watering issue where I cannot provide water to my sheep pens on my dedicated server, you'd be a miracle worker! Until then, thank you for figuring this one out.

I found it to be a bit touchy on some of my pens. I have to reverse up to the pen with the little tanker to get it to register. Where as other seem fine just pulling up like in this video.

You can destroy them yes. You cant sell them and have them stay. I had put in a feature request to giants saying that this was not a good results that someone who might no longer want to do a production should be able to sell it vs have to destroy it as in doing so you also lose the ability to use it as a sell point.

There's a file, I think its the farms, or farmlands one where you can change the value from 1 to 0 for the production

What's the big deal with manure? Is it worth selling, or use it on your fields instead of fertilizer? The cost of getting the manure onto the field is probably quite high compared to just breezing over the field with the Lizard 47m spreader. Maybe I'm missing something, would be good to know before I get into pigs in a few weeks.

Here's a tip for a much easier way to feed your pigs if you want to manually fill each food source. Under cars in the vehicle buy menu you will see two small golf cart looking cars and a couple of pickups. I personally use the Mahindra retriever, as it is the cheaper option. There is also a John Deer variant. With this car you can fill it's bed with 640 liters at any silo or hey loft. And when you back up to the overload point it will allow you to dump the bed's content. This is, I think, the intended way for animal care to take place when using food sources that are farm grown.

So it seems, just harvest required crops into your main silo(corn/sorghum, wheat/barley, sunflowers, etc), which accounts for the four pig food categories, then just try to fill a trailer with each crop as close as possible to 8,050 liters each, equaling the 34,000L total food allowed for at least that specific pig enclosure in vid. I like it this way, because it forces you to plan out your farm more precisely..need more fields and money before jumping into certain aspects of the game.

The feeding balance has been around since at least FS-17. That was my first experience with FS. I didn't play much FS-19. I've only just started a chicken coup in FS-22, no other animals yet.

In all my gameplay on FS17 and FS19 I never ran into this situation where if I say filled corn for pigs I would not be able to then dump in wheat.

Interesting one the pig pasture me and my friend I play with have never managed to get the water to fill and as for the largest cow shed we gave up as that would not take food or straw hopefully gaints fix the bugs as its stopping going forward with our farms in multi and single player

Only the pastures need water the straw point is buggy but go on the side of the ramp to go in the door

You don't need the big bag carrier, you can lift them 4 at a time with pallet forks

For the manure points apparently its the manure heap expansion that you need and not the manure heap. Saw that on a MrSearly P video

I don't agree with the food trough beng a bug, at least I hope it's not, a tank taking 34 000l won't take anymore as that's the capacity, so if you want to add another 34 000 l of something in the same feeding tank that is 68 000 l in the 34 000 l capacity tank..that just doesn't fit in there

Same, I agree with you. Kinda like the Grain Silos. Some are rated at 500,000l and will hold 500,000l of each different crop. Not how it should work. You either fill it with one crop @500k or 10 crops @ 10,000 each. Glad to see someone else with the same thinking

buy the trailer size that get you 3y,s (1/3th) and 4y,s(1/4), that way you can plan your feeding strategy. I kind of like it. now you need to think. (training humans to farm).

Yeah that is correct because if you add the base food the green the protein and the root crops together you come up with 85,000

I think the food is fine, more work to do... It would be kinda too easy just to fill up to 100% everything, total is 85k and you have to calculate how much of what to get, would 100% be easier if you could just max everything but eh

Hi, I wonder if you could get this big fixed too - I was moving grain with my shovel which holds 1000l. I filled it up with 1000l of canola but it wouldn’t let me also pick up 1000l of stones at the same time! WhTs going on ?!

Pigs are tied to the pen there in. When there is no more room they stop outputting more animals.

I think total capacity being definitive is fine but something should be done in game to improve how the player interacts with the mixed feed for the various animals. Various solutions include making the total capacity only be reachable by adding the maximum amount of each component, adding an overlay like the mixer wagons have when you bring product to the fill point so the player can see the ratios while depositing product, adding the capability of changing the intended animal feed for the mixer wagon along with appropriate overlay, and or adding production installations where the player can create pig feed before bringing to the pen. The way it is now just adds aggravation since it's extremely easy for players to make mistakes that are extremely annoying to fix.

Can you add more silos fir the food as its because the one silo is full thats why you cant add other food in but if you can add 2 or 3 silos then you can fill with all necessary food sources

no you cant add anything to the pig pens to allow more food. If you fill the food to 100% with any combo of food types its full and you can not add any more.

If you dont want manure can you still add straw to get health up to 100 but still get slurry. Great video really helpful thanks.

@@FarmerKlein More I play 22 the less impressed I am. Why make you have to add extensions? Crops wither in one day so if it rains or you can't harvest everything you lose it. I like the grafics but beyond that not impressed.

@@walkingwithwhitetaileddeer4168 The concept is greater flexability in placing and building yoru own farm vs having it built in and thus always there. Plus the manure area is limited to 4 different directions of rotation due to the heap spawning in it where as the animal area can be spun a full 360* so again a high degree of flexability in building out the farm. If you dont want manure just dont put it down and now you dont have to deal. Crops wither in usually 2 days based on the harvest calendar and thats IF you are running 1 day months. Run 2 day months and now you have 4 days to harvest, 4 day months gives you 8 days to harvest, etc. In FS22 you can harvest in the rain it just lowers the yeld and it should not rain the entire day anyway. But to each their own.

Just remember don’t dump your pig crap silo in the lake, your farm will get domed otherwise.

How is that a bug? The pig feed silo has a limited space, just like real life. I think it's an improvement not a bug. The manure heap is where you store manure, the extension, I believe, would be the scripting extension. They could have done a better job in the description

The reason I think its a bug is that for the player there is no way you can tell at what % you are on any given food source when adding it with out stopping the dump and looking at the animal screen and going back. If it was intended behavior why not provide an F1 style set of fill bars like the TMR mixer which does require a specific mix ratio. With different pens having different max fill levels, different age animals also consuming different amounts the amount of food that makes up a particular % is going to change over time as pigs grow, reproduce and as a player maybe expands to a different building.

@@mistertitus6814 The TMR wagon shows you the food mix ratio in the F1 menu so you can see what yoru adding and how it relates to the overall mix. No such information for the Pig or Cow or Horse areas. So, your adding mix blind without checking the food pen constantly.

Has the feeding issue been fixed?

Yes I fully know this. And if I didnt show the big bag lifter I would have comments on how you should use the bag lifter to move them. I cant go over every possible combo of how to do something or then there woudl be folks crying about how SLOW the video is or how I should cut out needless information.

The manure heap is broke, and the manure heap extension will fill with manure.

Yes we get to that in the video. the manure silo is for storage of manure only not to connect it to a animal pen.

Pig food mixing plant seems to be the easy way to feed these guys.

True but at the time of this video's production and the games release there was no such thing. Which is why all of these videos cover how things work in the base game. Only once you fully understand how the game functions with no mods can you understand how any one mod(s) change the game.

The food mechanics is based on ratios so yes you have to do math not just throw a load of corn, barley and potatoes . So no it's not a big it's just math

Sorry but I think the food works the way it should. If you have a 10 gallon bucket and put 10 gallons of wheat then it is full. There is no room for any other food. You can’t magically add 1 gallon of corn to an already full bucket. This is more realistic. Just as in real live we have determine how much of each is needed before we fill the bucket up. However, good to know this before getting in too deep. Thank you.

Not saying change is bad just this is very different than how it ha worked in previous FS releases and unlike the TMR mixing wagon where the ratio is just as important there is no visual indicator of how much your filling a given food source from the tractor so you do not know if your overfilling as it stands for the other food sources so one has to check constantly and with each pen taking a different amount of food as its minimum fill levels which I typically also show in the video by putting the same number of animals in all the pens but the larger ones have a larger min capacity of the food levels. This video was an exception to that.

well in 17 i didnt play 19 but in 17 we mixed the % of each foos scores into a mixr and made what ya call power food and take that to the silo and it gives you all your bonues and fill the food up
