Edit: I misspoke. There are no valves in a two-stroke engine 🥴
To tell you the truth, I have to take my chainsaw to the hardware store every time I need to start it after it's been sitting. He charges me $5 and goes in the back room and fiddles with it for a couple of minutes. I'm guessing he does this 😉

I have a Poulan chainsaw,Haven;t used it in Five years so i worried, done exactly what you said to do and,Bingo it started and useing it now,Thank You for the Hot tip,Good Day Sir.
I'm going to need to try this next time. I generally just keep trying, then letting it sit, then trying again later. It usually starts, but it takes most of the day. I have had to bring it into the dealer once or twice though.
I can safely say I will never need to remember this 😉😊♥

I had to go back and see if I said that, and sure enough I did! My bad 🥴
IN CANADA WE CALL THAT EMERY PAPER NOT SAND PAPER.

I believe the term 'sand paper' comes from the fact that most abrasive papers were at one time garnet sand glued to paper. Emory is just another form of 'sand' (aluminum oxide with other minerals). Zircon is very popular these days, but technically it's mostly just sand glued to paper. We do use emery cloth though!
