How To: Ss Brewtech Brew Bucket Pressured Transfer Kit Install

Big thanks goes out to Ss Brewtech for making these parts possible for us little guys on the 7 gallon homebrew fermenter scale. Also, big props to the boys at Exit 12 Brewery for the inspiration to bite the bullet, buy the parts and finally venture into a new area to advance my homebrewing to the next level with pressure transfers.

That is pretty cool. Can’t wait to see the transfer portion in use. I saw that kit a while back but I am leery of drilling holes in the flat lids. I may just go with the domed lids. I only have the two to upgrade.

Great video, this project is on the to-do list when I can afford it. Just a thought. Instead of taking the ball lock off with the worm clamp every time, you could get a Carbonation and Line Cleaning Ball Lock Cap (morebeer) and connect that with some tubing to the pressure release barb. Then you can keep the ball lock attached at all times and just connect the ball lock to the Ball lock cap.

Really useful video thanks for sharing. Could you show a video of your set up connected to co2 as I want to set my brew bucket up for closed pressurised transfer. Many thanks.

Great vid, thanks for the tips - I have the kit and haven't "gotten brave" and drilled my lid yet, hopefully with your info I'll get it in the correct spot! Like the idea of using it as a DH port too - hadn't considered that, I usually crack 2-3 of the clamps on the lid and post the hop bags in as quickly as I can.

Hey thanks for watching and commenting. Yeah I’ve been using it as a dry hop port, though still not oxygen free it’s better than fully opening the lid fully. Good luck on your modification when you get around to it.

Nicely does Josh, oh if i had a penny for every time i tried something and it didn't work out as planed, when i could well... probably buy a beer i am sure. I still use my brew bucket with the conversion I also use a 1.5 triclamp ball lock fitting to keep a slight bit of pressure during fermenting. as always good advice for not getting too close. to either edge. cheers!

Haha that is so true Gary, luckily my mistake only cost me slightly more than a Costco 24 pack of local craft IPA! It will sure be interesting to see how this changes things for me and my process, especially IPAs.

Nice how-to video Josh! I ended up going with the 90 attachment that SS Brewtech offers for my pressure transfer because I didn't want to drill my lid. I wonder what the differences are. I guess the tri-clamp fitting gives you some more versality which is great. I'd imagine you can attach a ton of things to that tri-clamp as you want. I look forward to seeing you use this setup in action in future videos. Cheers!

Oh nice, I’ll enjoy seeing your 90 attachment in the future. I know that this setup with the compression fitting hole will allow for easier dry hopping without needing to remove the whole lid. Cheers Matt!

OOPS! Thanks for clearing that up, I thought it was too close and then the Tri-Clamp fitting went on just fine. I thought 3 glasses of mead and 2 glasses of Porter may have been the cause. Cheerz.

Thanks for the video, this is exactly what I was looking to do to mine. I was curious if you thought about drilling the new hole over the existing hole? Then you wouldn't need to use the plug.

I'm about to do this mod on my brew bucket as well. I'm thinking it might be worth it to drill a gas post into the lid to purge the head space after dry hopping through the 1.5" compression fitting. I use a mini fridge as a ferm chamber and I don't have the space above the bucket for one of those fancy dry hop sight glass set ups

I also have a mini fridge fermentation chamber! kzread.info/dash/bejne/k32m18eJeK2qmJM.html Good luck with your idea in modifying, there’s not one right answer. I simply remove the compression fitting and drop them in…it’s certainly not perfect but it’s also not as bad as removing the whole damn lid either.
