How To Spray Paint Your Helmet At Home!
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Here's how to paint your helmet with a custom design, at home, using minimal supplies and spray paint! I cover all the basic steps, from stripping the helmet to prepping it with a scuff pad and cleaner to spray painting and stenciling techniques. I then show how to clear coat and remove the masking to reveal your own, personalized, custom helmet! These techniques could be used on a range of helmets, from racing / karting helmets to motorcycles and dirt bikes to BMX and longboarding.

I know this is like 1 year later so it may not apply but almost all helmets for consumer purchase are made of of polycarbonate and for that there are certain companies that specialize for the type of material and paint.

A little piece of advice needed here! If during the color paint job I get a little orange peeling.... should I wetsand it before clear coat? I have design and multiple color and stencils, as you do. Or should I clear coat 3-4 layers, wetsand the subsequent peeling and then give the finishing clear coat layer?
@CashedOutCars
3 жыл бұрын
I would probably only wetsand the clear coat. It'll come up to preference but either way just make sure the paint or clear is thick enough before you try to sand it! Good luck!

You should not scuff/sand down The helmet in circuler motions, it makes the dust go into The small scrathes and can in some cases show to the paint. Just a tip. Sorry for bad english, english is not my first language.

Details missing mate.
Be careful with the paint..... some paints contain chemicals that will weaken the structure of the helmet.... Also, masking etc should be removed "flat" to avoid peeling of the paint....
@ifihadaboat85
4 жыл бұрын
Chris Andersen would a spraypaint primer help with the weakening factor? I’m assuming by weakening, you mean that the chemicals etch into and latch onto the surface like enamels and lacquers do
@slamdesigner7754

It is not the paint but the helmet. If you have a plastic helmet, you can only use waterbased paint. When you are using a good quality motorcycle or car helmet, you can paint them but be carefull and do not let paint inside the helmet
