    K swap is overrated. Mazda's own Duratec 2.5 is the ideal 4-cyl swap. Specifically, if you take the 2.3 crank and rods and put them in there with the 2.5 block, pistons, and head. The Duratec 2.3 and 2.5 are literally the Mazda K24, and they're also the precursor/cousin to the 2.3 Ecoboost and a variant of the Mazdaspeed 3 engine, the latter of which has been built to 800whp and the former to 600whp stock block. I've also seen dyno graphs of all motor Duratec 2.5-ish builds putting down 270+ whp, just like high-end all-motor K24s can. The best V6 swaps IMO (IDK about fitment or conversion kit availability though) would be Honda J35 and Toyota 2GR-FXE. Both can be built to 400hp/300tq, the latter can get closer a little more simply since it's already high compression, you just need to do to it what you'd do to a 2AR-FSE/FXE, which is to replace the exhaust cam with another intake cam, and advance the intake cam one tooth. in the 2AR (a 2.5 4-cyl) the immediately changes it from a fake Atkinson cycle hybrid engine into a 240whp performance engine. Scale that up roughly 50% for the extra cylinders and proportional displacement in the V6 and you're talking 340+whp EZ. The next best V6 swap is the 4.3L LV3 from the 2014+ Chevy lineup. Based on the gen 5 LS (called LT) platform V8s, it has as much power stock as an 07-13 5.3L LS engine. Off-the-shelf cams can get you to 375 crank hp, and if you research/learn from David Vizard, you should be able to relatively easily get around to 400whp out of that, too, obviously with more torque than the 3.5L V6s from Toyota and Honda. Another reason this is on the list is that it'll be physically smaller than the SOHC and DOHC V6's respectively, and probably lighter too, since it's 3/4 of an all-aluminum LS engine. Plus if there are already swap kits for LS engines, I'm pretty sure those will be adaptable to the LV3. If you need more than 400whp out of it, just boost it or add nitrous, there's plenty of room for it to grow, and even more in the engine bay with 2 fewer cylinders than "normal."

    I had your model Passat from new. I drove around in it for 3 years without an automatic handbrake because every time it deployed, you couldn't get it to release. The electrics were always failing. I would lock the car at night and then wake up in the morning to find the doors, the windows, the sun roof, and the tailgate were all open. I wouldn't touch a VW even if you paid me.

    My 2021 Jetta is the first VW I ever had. The rain window shields fell off after two days, had brake issues the first year and second year which is dangerous, and had to replace the gas tank the second year. Of course my Ford had a transmission falling out. Is there any car out there without dangerous issues?

    I heard people mentioning the Jaguar V6, which I heard is an excellent swap. You’d be surprised to know that hot rodders in England are now putting Mercedes, BMW and Jaguar engines in their Ford Pops, Cortinas, Chevy pick ups and Deuces. Especially since the Rover V8 has gone to the scrapyard of history. Talking about the Mazda swaps, you forgot to mention the Villiers V10.

    No issues at all don’t. Yeah that electrical problem is because you keep the windows open when raining and eventually water goes into the electric components. I had issues in my Toyota because my wife always when it rained let the locks and window controls get wet. My VWs no issues either! It is a matter of care

    I've considered a hood dump for my old truck, but based on a lot of factors, it would be more efficient to dump it out the side fender. Would literally be a straight pipe. If I ever get around to it that is. I've been meaning to get around to modding the truck more for like five years lol

    Bro that sounds and Pulls insanely nice! one point on the 0-60 runs... the road looked decidedly like it had a downhill look to it.. that will skew the times making it do quicker than a level run... when I try to do timed runs, its Really hard to just find a flat road, at least where I live!

  • @CashedOutCars
    @CashedOutCarsКүн бұрын

    Thanks man! I use the draggy timer and it does invalidate a run if the slope is too steep, so it is relatively flat. I test all my cars there to compare them to one another, so they’re tested on an even playing field

    First 21st century VDub was a Jetta TDI GLS 5Spd. Mileage 332K prior to selling it, the trunk remote linkage would break. Bought several Trunk Monkey interface pieces through the 17 years of ownership. That’s is all of my nuisance problems. Great car. Currently have a 2015 Passat TDI SEL Premium. Water pump every 100,000 miles, and front driver side strut spring. Just purchased H&R sport springs from ECS Tuning, going to drop her 3/4” front, 1/2” rear. Should take care of the issue. Put roughly 25K miles/ year on my car just to and from work. Overall, amazing cars.

    Great ttips. My VW Polo failed the MOT today here in the UK due to a rear door not opening. I have only driven 295 miles in one year and have never had a passenger in the back of the car. I think this fault occurred a year ago when the last MOT failed, due to a locking fault on the driver's door and a new lock was fitted. Alas, I never checked the other door locks at the time, hence it was found today. The mechanic said it was probably due to a central locking issue but what I find is that we innocent and trusting people pay for mechanics to guess and hope they reach the solution. I asked a question to the garage, saying would any of the 3 fuses which were removed due to the alarm system going off at all unearthly hours, be possibly connected to the door lock not working; the mechanic said 'it could be' !!! I hardly drive but it is convenient if in an hour of need to still have a car. I do not wish to pay a huge sum to get a new locking unit, so am thinking that in my elderly years, that I may hang up my car keys forever!
