My favorite is the 30th Anniversary 2019 model.. but the NC2 PRHT are the ones I have owned the most of. Also, I knew all these facts... but here's one for you.. The Mariner Blue color for the NA was sourced from the blue California licenses plates from the 70's. More specifically, the license plate on Bob Hall's car.

The NA was originally also available with a BBR Turbo kit. You could get it already turbocharged or have it turbo'd later by BBR, all within warranty which is sick. There were only a few sold and the ons that are still out there are worth a lot of money

Cool video! To add to this Australia never got the 1.6 after the NA. All series 2 NB have the “sport brakes” and six speed with 3.63 diff. We got the Mazdaspeed but down under it’s called the SE. If you want to see the Miata Mazda should of built check out the MX5 SP that Mazda Australia built this has around 30HP more than the Mazdaspeed with VVT and a sexy Mazda moulded carbon fibre airbox. Only 100 were made and the cars number is engraved by hand under the carbon airbox. There is a cool Mazda logo on the strutbrace with a kangaroo on it 😂

I have a NA, NBSP and an ND. Love the NA as a clasic car, very organic. Favorite is the SP. Only 100 made and Mazda only released them in Australia as a market test for a turbo. 2 years later the lesser powered SE came out which shows the experiment worked. The ND is my daily and a very great car but the 210HP SP is just awesome.

So I own a 1997 Miata R which is a rare Spec of the Miata and was produced from 1994-1997. it came with Bilstein shocks, heavy-duty rear springs, heavier sway bars, rear spoiler, front air dam, rear skirt, alloy wheels, Torsen limited slip differential. The R package was not available with power steering, automatic transmission or Popular Equipment and Leather option packages. The early packages were uncommon but the 1997 Miata R only had 47 ever made.

I just bought my first MX-5, it's an NB2 2003 Orange in colour Black top, with 83,000 Miles ( I've wanted one in 1991 Green and Brown and now in 2023 I have my 20 year old fun sports car). I had to drive about 800 miles to pick it up, and my wife want's to be able to drive it so its a 4 speed Auto. I've been married over 46 years now, no argument would work for me to get a Manual. I drove it home no air and no cruse, reminded me of early times. I have a rain leak from the roof so I am doing that first then brakes, timing belt and tires after that (the Miata came with new cheap Chinese tires). I had a lot of fun driving it all the way home, except for it was mostly highway, so the one I like so far is the NB2.

Nice job with the video! Here are a few more facts, in quiz form: For the North American market, Classic Red was by far the most common color on the NA (84,196, or 39% of them). But do you know the most common color on the NB? About 18% were this color when new, compared with about 13% Classic Red. The name "Miata" is technically unique to the N.A. market, and it was known simply as MX-5 in most other markets. What model year was the first to not have a "Miata" badge in North America? Mazda's most successful year for United States Miata sales saw 23,052 units sold. What year was this? Many know the "fathers" of the Miata to be Bob Hall (concept) and Tom Matano (chief designer), as well as Toshihiko Hirai (chief engineer). But where was Tom Matano working before he came to Mazda in 1983? Answers below... . . . . . . . . . . Emerald Green 2004 (Mazdaspeed) - nor did the '05 Mazdaspeed or anything after the NB. 1990 BMW

Awesome video but the na and nb relocated the battery to the rear because the designer decided to shrink the car pretty late in the design and the space for the battery would've been too small. So the engineers moved it to the trunk.

This is a little off topic, but could you do a video on what you see the future of the Miata being as the world moves to EVs? I'm excited and scared for the inevitable EV Miata. Excited because of the potential for a true go-cart machine if Mazda keeps to their "light, fun and cheap" ethos, but scared because the technical hurdles to achieve such a car at an affordable price will make it tempting to extensively modify (think Ford Mustang EV) or even scrap the Miata.

I love my 1999 NB. It's in Brilliant Black with a tan vinyl soft top. It has better body lines than the NA, and it still has that 90s feeling. Second is the ND, because it's just a pretty looking car, especially the RF versions.

My minivan would kill all of my Miatas (except my 93 Monster Miata). As fun as it is having a V8 miata after you drive it some you realize how perfect the original is..... I didn't know that Aston Martin / door handle thing. You can use the side view mirror of a Miata on Suzuki's horrible lame ass attempt at making a Miata, the Suzuki X-90. I had a couple of those turds too

I can tell you one thing i dont like is these cars rust like crazy ive got a 91 and the rockers plus some of the wheel tub is almost out the door. tbh it kind of depresses me but what can you do about it. other then that it is a wonderful car. besides rust and being to small for how slow it can be
