PSA has changed their label several times over the years. The current listing on their website works great for modern(last 4 years) cards, prior to that slightly different design. 10 years ago even different. I have a card I graded back in 2004, it doesn't have the PSA foil on the front. But had one on the back. I really wish PSA would post it on their site. But it is like currency, need to constantly make changes to keep ahead of counterfeiters. Good video, as it teaches alot, and more people need to be vigilant.

I have a good deal of slabs, but am starting to look at higher value cards. Videos like this will definitely help from me not getting had

What happened to the hobby? We’re going the wrong direction. So much shadiness, most kids nowadays don’t know the true joy of collecting. It’s backyard breaking to Marx cards to guys peddling fake stuff at shows. Collecting should be fun not joyless. Glad we have channels like yours and retro hoops putting out vids warning us and also showing the good side of the hobby. Keep it up 👍🏻

Thanks mate, I appreciate the support. I just like to call it as it is and share my knowledge to try and help as many people as I can. I dislike when people gate-keep and keep things to themselves, or don’t speak up to protect their sponsors etc. The shadiness of the hobby has almost always been around, it’s just way more noticeable now because of the volume of people. We got plenty of good during this boom, and unfortunately plenty of bad too.

Thanks for the support - glad you enjoyed it. Moral of the story is to look at the slab and label as a whole, don’t get caught falling into the trap of just the QR code like so many people preach.

Best thing to do is register all your PSA cards with PSA and before buying any PSA cards, check the cert number.

Great video keep up the great work. That all vintage cards website is great for looking at old labels and flips to compare with cards you are thinking about buying in older slabs. It has helped with a few purchases in the past. A small purple UV torch is a good buy to check the security hologram. You can also use it to check edges and corners of cards for chipping and fraying/whitening. Also it helps you see dust and foreign substances on card surfaces.

@@DanTheCardMan2 a UV torch is great for inked cards also. A must have for card shows or checking your own online purchased cards. Inking to hide edge and corner wear is sadly a thing in Magic the gathering and pokemon. Probably going to be more of a thing in the coming years.

I need to grab one before the Sydney Hobby Hangout. I am a watch nerd too so this will come in handy when playing around with the lume lol.

I have a couple slabs I purchased everything looks legit but the hologram in the back of the PSA logo says CLCT NASDAQ instead of PSA? Is that a fake? Or legit? Like I said everything else looks legit……

They just keep sending the real card in and popping the real Case would make the most sense, but yeah that frost is only unexplainable catch here? It must be a fake case too I'd think.

The other way to see if a slab is real or not is by the raised PSA logo on the bottom right-hand corner of the slab itself. If there is no raised logo there, it's fake 👍, even the old slabs have this logo 👍 not completely sure about the very first slabs they produced though

I saw a Psa slab were it says ”21” instead of the Psa symbol on the corners

What if I don’t have a uv light ? Can I use sunlight ?

Yep, the torch just makes it easier to focus where you want to look though

Wil just looking down at the button right tell you if it’s fake? There should be a logo imprinted into the slab there, that’s how I usually tell

Everything looks great for the card I have but the card moves a lot more than I would like. I feel like none of my other graded cards move as much.

I feel like the QR code should have a password mailed with the sale of the card and when you go to PSA website and scan the QR code, you have to type the password that came with your card, if it passes through the website... it's another step of legit
