Mate i found one sweeping up last week ive just put it up on utube and its real...

I've been collecting coins off and on for about 20years got three kews in my change about six year's ago or so. Then I started hearing how rare they were, so I spent one so that someone else could have the chance of finding one after all I really only needed one for my collection and I have three so I thought why not let someone else have one....so I spent one and I still have the remaining two!!!

I got a Kew a few weeks ago and when I heard about the pointy roof and lines next to Kew I got worried. I spent ages ages going over it and the portrait looks spot on. Compared it to the commonwealth with the same portrait and they look identical in design. I also weighed it and it is spot on 8g. Compared the weight to other 50ps and they all were the same. I'm glad you said some with the pointy roof and lines were circulated as it seems I have one of these versions. Wonder why they had 2 versions of the design and whether the pointy roof is the rarer of the two versions.

I found one left it on the kitchen counter and when I came back it had gone. My brother spent it!😡

I must admit, having wanted a Kew for so many years, & the only 50p I was missing. I did go to a dedicated coin dealer, & I did pay £320, for my coin. But I'm at least assured that I have bought an original Kew Gardens 50p. Price really only reflects the price somebody is willing to pay for an item. I was happy paying the inflated price, for a real Kew.

I have a few and now I've just found a Sherlock Holmes 50p in my jacket pocket yesterday, is it worth keeping?

Yep I've got a real kew 50p but I also purchased fake's to see what the differences are, there are some crafty looking forgeries out there!! ^__^

so,, now that i have read all the comments, and still had no real heads up, what is a kew gardens really worth on average?

I bought a real one off eBay years ago for £2.50 and another one again off eBay a few months later for £25! But my best one was the one I found in the change at work! Swapped it out of the till for a regular 50p!

My mum actually has one:)

I went on this trip once with this club and we had to take part in many activities, win as much as activities and earn a lot of points, now whoever had the most wins and points at the end would get a prize. So I won the prize and it says on it something towards the lines of, "Girl Scout 2015"-(random year,) and apparently it costs a lot of money. 😳 I still have it today, but I don't want to sell it, too much good memories. Xx

How much is it worth?

The royal mint reissued the Kew 50p this year, alone with the scouts and girl guides. It is dated 2019 and costs £50 but definitely not fake

You can sell your Kew Gardens 50p on auction sites such as eBay or on Facebook coin groups. Make sure you include a picture with your handwritten name and date to verify that the coin is genuine. Best of luck!

I paid £25 for one a few years ago and then when the pack of re-released 50p's came out including Kew, Bannister, Scouts etc, l bought that too.

Here is a Question if I walk in Ten Separate Banks and change up £50 in to Coins in each bank. What Coin would be the best to change my £50 to with the chances of finding a Rare Coin. There are Many Beatrice Potter Coins worth nothing. AK-47 £5 NOTES worth nothing. Any Advice please. I need a Hobby.

The rarest 50p coin is the Kew Gardens, which is currently worth over £100 on the secondary market. However it is incredibly hard to find, so you'd have to be very lucky to come across it in a bank bag. The Football Olympics 50p is also very rare and the 2017 Royal Shield, so keep your eyes peeled for those ones!

You would make more money overall putting it into 20p and searching for the undated - everyone is looking for Kew but not many search that 😉

@@roxdude yes. But I did not have the scout coin either. The coins from the royal mint are of a higher quality than the coins in circulation. The circulation coins are minted with 60 tonnes of pressure where as the presentation coins are pressed at 120 tonnes. This gives clearer detail. I have just purchased the d day set, released on the 6th June 2019. I would admit it is pricy. But if you were to purchase each coin individually it would cost more, especially if you factor in postage
