Few years ago I was trying to collect the Olympic coins and the kind owner of the local laundrettes kept some for me. He handled over the coins to his staff but she kept them all to herself. This happened twice. She then decided to let me have a look at all the spare 50ps so that I can pick whatever I wanted. Non Olympic coins but there were 2 Kew garden coins in the tin. Yes, I took the 2 Kew garden 50p coins.

In 2011 (I think) I got into collecting the 50p Olympic coins and since my dad was a taxi driver handling loads of change I ended up getting all of them including the Kew gardens coin

I've been collecting for years, I found the kew gardens one and have all but 2 of the whole collection!

I felt sick watching this, at work a few weeks ago when I handle lunchtime money I saw a shield dated 2017 thinking I didn't see them that often but didn't swap it with one of mine thinking they weren't that rare. How wrong I was!

Can anyone remember the “Nine Hands 50p” from 1977? One of the earliest “unusual” ten bob bits, as my mam called them - there was an urban myth perpetuated that some had been minted with ten hands on them and were worth £5! Not sure if there was any truth in it, though!

It seems to be a regional thing with some coins, I was getting lsaac Newton 50p's every day of the week in my change got dozens of them over a couple of months.

Towards the end of 2018, The Royal Mint announced that the coin would be re-issued in 2019 as part of the 50th anniversary of the 50p coin set and unsurprisingly when these coins became available they were snapped up by collectors in a matter of mere hours! The kew 50p was removed and sold as to collectors none the wiser.

I put a kew garden 50p in my coffee machine at work lol everytime I see somthing about that coin it makes me laugh

I spent the Kew Gardens Coin Kept in my when ironically I found it in Amsterdam, Netherlands given to me in change at the Airport

I own all the 2018 Peter Rabbits, and I have owned lots of shields. I had no idea the shield coins were so rare.

How are the Shields rare? I've found loads.

I had the kew gardens back in 2009 just a few years before I started collecting. I spent it in the pub because I didn't quite have enough for a beer. I was gutted when I started collecting!

It's only the one's that were made in 2017 that are rare

i have found the following coins: the johnson dictionary 1755, paddigiton in a train station, flopsy bunny, the sir isaac newton, benjamin rabbit, and the battle of hastings

I have the Kew Gardens 50p - I had it in my Change a couple of years ago and had it authenticated, it’s real!

I have All of them, Sadly minus the Kew, that I've not yet been lucky enough to find, but hope to one day 🥰🙂👍🏻 My all time favourite is also the 'Sir Isaac Newton' so much so I have at least 10 in my collection now, My second favourite is actually a none circulated coin, and it's the 'Stephen Hawking' 50p, "Black Hole" design 🙂👍🏻 Keep up these awesome video's 🙂 They help so many people who are new or interested in our hobby 🙂 All the best, Mark 👍🏻

That's really good going! The Kew is just so hard to find and unfortunately there are some people who try to pass off fakes :( The Isaac Newton is my favourite too and I'm a big fan of the Stephen Hawking too - the designs are quite similar I think. @@ChangeChecker That's my worry about even buying a secondhand Kew, Because there is just so many fakes around now 😖😥 Yes there's ways to spot them, but that's only something you'd be able to do in person, which makes the market to buy one that much smaller 😔 And buying from a shop means the prices are sky high 😢 So I live in hope still about finding one in the wild 😉 I agree on the Newton & Hawkin being similar, but personally the Newton is a much more complex and interesting design in my eyes, I wish I knew what all the different design elements meant on the Rear of the coin 🙂👍🏻 And you're welcome on the complements, They're very much deserved 🙂👍🏻 All the best, Mark 🙂

Apparently I still have those fifty pence coins as a collection but I am still looking for a certain one week I do not have I do have the number one fifty pence coin besides collecting stamps I used to collect comic books as well but unfortunately over the years other people take over the property and kick you out and you become homeless I used to collect coins when I was a child in the 1960s end of the day I still have my stamp collection to tell tales of secrecy at one stage I was collecting black and white films from wide range of different cameras still I know a place where they are very as they did try to burn all the evidence of black and white films secretly made they lay Underground behind the Ritz dance hall Manningham Lane Bradford UK

To Mrs Change Checker herself i think you are fantastic, i have 15 different rare 50ps and ive only started collectinglast few months Rarest i have are some Olympic coins and Tittle mouse as well as others from Beatrix series. I have a Benjamin bunny 2017 and I saw a rabbit here and watched it, mine was the only one not mentioned haha. Also have a Paddington, I've never found any rare coins before besides a sixpence I have for luck, so I don't really know how much anything is worth.
