You gonna have to cut a shedload of those wedges to split any quantity and it looks like a kot of hard work. But I guess if you're stuck outside with only a small axe...

Yeah thats the point. If you have a large volume to split then get a maul, axe and proper splitting wedges. But in a pinch you can split some pretty large and knarly logs with just a hatchet

Its actually a vintage 3lb east german head, same rhineland pattern stihl sells though

will this affect the eye of the axe?

Ive never seen or hear of an axe eye being damaged by driving wood wedges, hitting 2 axes or with a steel hammer is damaging though

No thanks im not getting hit in the face buy the business end of an axe, Ill just use the cut log of wood to wack the axe in or better yet, use a mallet

No thanks im not getting hit in the face buy the business end of an axe, Ill just use the cut log of wood to wack the axe in or better yet, use a mallet
