How to Spider Guard (+ 3 Sweeps!)

Спорт

Coach Erin Herle is back with 3 sweeps from spider guard, a position from the back that manipulates the opponent's arms by controlling the gi sleeves and utilizing the legs to offset balance.

    @mattiac.8892

    5 жыл бұрын

    That's not such thing as a minimum belt required for mma. There could always be that one organization that requires these kind of things but it's not the general rule. Joanna Jedrezyck (I definitely mispelled her name), former ufc champion, was an elite thai fighter and went in mma as a white belt in bjj and I think she still is. You're definitely allowed to try mma with a pure striking background, and of course the other way around is valid too. Erin here is about to debut in mma and I don't think she was into striking until very recently.

    Soulless MMA True, however I’d say that many Gi practitioners rely on sleeves and strong collars to move/control too much. More so of a crutch that doesn’t necessarily translate to everyday. What I would say, is don’t ignore the Gi if you have the opportunity to work with great talent. It’s all about learning, so fill in the gaps missed by No-Gi.

  • @FLBoyCanScrap

    @FLBoyCanScrap

    5 жыл бұрын

    @@jessecrockett8127 Gi grappling depends heavily on grips, if you are using underhooks/overhooks over grabbing the gi or belt you are going to lose to another skill gi competitor. Some matches are grip fights for 5-30 mins straight. The gi is not realistic. Most clothing rips and tears easily, AND people can take them off if they want to before or during a fight. Grips are supplemental and easy to incorporate with a no gi background. Just check out all the fighters grabbing shorts and the inside of gloves. Going for grips is a natural thing and anything above the basics is not needed for a self defense situation and is worthless in MMA. Only people I ever see defending gi are gi competitors, traditionalists, or non athletes that cant stand getting dominated by wrestlers with one month of training lol.

But anyway, I hope you can focus on what im about to say, I'm training to fight for an mma match now and I came across a video on youtube that really got me interested and bothered at the same time. It's the deaths that happened in the ring, boxing and muay thai. As someone that I look up to in MMA, I hope you can make a video about this topic, maybe a breakdown of what happened and how to prevent it from happening. This will be so useful for all your subscribers and future subscribers all over the world. Hope you can shed some light onto this topic. Thank you so much in advance bro. Peace.
