I had given my Stimulus Check to my parents. My dad isn't working because of the shut down so he's rapidly continuing building the extension part of our home. Even though I don't live there . At least I can give them that check when most of the time my brother's has contributed during this project. I'm grateful I can WFH and still have a job but I'm looking for other ways of growing my brand. So I'm currently looking into Coding boot camp :D

Being a youtuber is obviously a hugely privileged job, but I’m especially grateful for it right now. My payments come in 30-90 days later (after I do sponsorships) so I should be getting paid soon for work I did months ago, and it’s comforting to know that the work I do now will ensure I have money coming in in a few months. I’ve been donating pretty frequently, and buying some essentials to send to my family in CA. My biggest priority is building up my 3-month emergency fund!

Its weird I feel like I'm more stable with money now than ever before. I think it's only temporary because of the stimulus check and my tax return. But since I am not going out at all anymore I am not spending as much or have the anxiety of spending. But I am worried about losing my job if this continues, so I am saving a lot more but it also worries me to not pay off my debt so I am still paying that off first and the rest is going into savings.

Good news: I'm on track to fully save for my emergency fund before this summer. I'm a teacher and I'm so grateful to still be working. The last few months, I wanted to give up on saving for 6 months of expenses (and just keep $1,000 as an emergency fund) and start paying back my student loans as soon as possible... but now that student loan payments and interest rates are on hold until September, I have time to focus on my goals and I know I'll be able to pay off my student debt when the time comes.

I'm a freelancer in Germany and I work with other expats and some of them are freaking out because they had no plan B and are already having to put their groceries on their credit cards because they're out of money. I'm SO glad I made the decision to get better with money because, even though I'm not working right now, I'm confident I can cover all of my expenses for the next couple of months. When my brother got his, he put majority of it into a savings account. Regarding what you said about coming out of this pandemic with a plan. There's been so much pressure put on people to make this time "productive". We've all seen those memes about learning a new language, gaining a new skill, starting a side hustle. Some people suffer from mental health issues and in general everyone copes differently. It's importance to be compassionate with oneself and remind everyone that it's ok if all you want to do is curl up in bed and watch Netflix.

My kids have been yelling when playing Fortnite. Haha, definitely makes work calls challenging! I paid off my car yesterday! One car left to go and a little over 10,000 in student loans. Paying off my husband's car then eyeing up paying off student loans before payments restart in October. I might never have a student loan payment again! How cool would that be?! I place high value on traveling with my family but since that is off the table currently, it's allowed us to reroute money to debt payoff. Focusing on the gratitude of having that opportunity. We can go to Yellowstone next year with greater peace of mind knowing we made smart decisions during this time.

Thank you again for another great video! I'm currently in the process of paying down my debt and have almost cut it in half since the beginning of the year. My bills are so much more manageable now so I actually put most of my stimulus check into my emergency fund because really we don't know how long this will last. Since I've been out of work since March 14th, I'm not sure how long my unemployment benefits will last so being able to add an extra $1000 to that fund feels great. And since my small business was affected I've definitely been doing the same and trying to support local restaurants and even smaller local grocery stores. We're in this together, and together we can change the outcome. Stay safe! 🧡

I did the math and it saved me a lot of money to leave my student loans in forbearance and put that payment towards smaller snowball debts because I can completely knock them out before forbearance ends.

I am blessed to be able to pivot and work from home opposed to my office. So I have also cut out my insane commute and gas costs. I’m just throwing everything at the debt.

I think everyone should really think about life is going to be different specifically for you when “things go back to normal.” I work at a massage spa and due to its nature I’m afraid we won’t bounce back for a long time. Massage financially is considered a luxury for the average person and many won’t want that kind of physical contact for awhile. Luckily I have an emergency fund, but I’m going to be holding onto direct cash as much as possible because I don’t know what life’s going to be like for the next year.

Just unconscionable. Good luck!

Anouncement to all the people who do not come out of the pandemic with an amazing life plan - yes, do the best you can with your "free time" during quarantine but also, don't feel bad if you're not being your best productive self, or if you want to just rest your mind from all your worries, or if you want to take care of your mental health rather than beat yourself down for not having it together. Its okay & take care of yourself. ❤

That's terrible! I'm so sorry you're going through this. I don't know how unemployment works from state to state but it seems odd that you wouldn't qualify for unemployment if you've only had a one month gap between jobs. I know that in NY, they look to see if you have a work history for at least 2 quarters. I was laid off from my job last year so I was on unemployment and when this happened and I temporarily lost my job I was nervous I wouldn't qualify but thankfully my benefit year (as they call it) had expired before I applied. Have you looked at jobs in the essential businesses? I keep getting job alerts for grocery stores, at home customer service jobs, warehouse jobs, etc. I hope you can get one of those jobs. Good luck! PS. Again, I don't know where you live, but I'm in NYC, middle of the freaking COVID-19 storm, and I know there are tons of community organizations providing aid and relief too. I hope you have something similar in your community so you can stay afloat and pay your bills.

I try to put my personal information online as much, but I dont have an emergency fund. Not from the lack of creating one, but my funds vary. I live with my parents and on too of paying off my student loan debt, I provide my grocery money now that she has reach that age to receive money from the government. Most if not all of the money is going towards the utilities of the house. Anyway, I say all of that to say, with people decided to not work, I saw an opportunity to pick up more hours. That's my good news, and I am able to have a bunch left over to put into my savings and investment goals.

I’m in this weird position where I don’t have any debts to pay off and I KNOW I should put the check towards my emergency fund but another part of me wants to take some of the money towards one or two items that would be considered nonessential (specifically a nice PJ set and some books). I am so fortunate that I am still working but I don’t know if I should allow this compromise or if my priorities are completely misaligned.

I live in Japan and gov was only going to give ¥300,000 to ‘per household’ who are having less than a half of the income due to pandemic crisis and having very tight financial difficulty plus some more restriction policy . But they have changed their mind due to excessive negative feedbacks they are now going to give ¥100,000 to every single Japanese citizen including some foreigners. Check will be released by early May.

    1) Pay bills. That Amazon purchase you want. No. Pay your bills. Think like you'll never see a cheque from the government again or as if you'll get laid off this year. Yes you the person working at home. You are not safe. 2) Don't have any bills? Donate! Help some people out. 3) Invest any left over in mutual funds, stock market, etc. Not right now. Things will crash again.

I don’t qualify for a check but the stimulus checks are intended to stimulate the economy. Meaning - spend it for products or services to support and stimulate your local businesses. We are helping each other if everybody is doing it. However, save it for the minimum essentials if you are in financial trouble.

Aja, I love you but I had to stop watching at around 10:16. While obviously coming out of this pandemic having done all the things we always made excuses about is ideal, we aren't just at home with all the time in the world like you said. We are at home constantly worrying about our safety and the world at large. So I don't blame anyone who just has to focus on surviving the day to day, materially and/or mentally.

I'm so shocked to hear you say that things might start going back to normal by the end of May. The US is still seeing 2,000 deaths per day. Australia is down to 1,500 current cases and 76 TOTAL deaths, and we're not seeing any hope of coming out of lockdown by then. I know our population is smaller, but that also means our risk is lower and we are still locked down. It's really sad to hear that your welfare payment is a measly $1200 but I really don't understand how twisted America's perception of this is. Don't listen to a word that comes out of your government's mouth.

It is only $1200 for most tax payers. If you are out of work you are likely getting additional money. So I am still working, but my husband is not for now. This means we both get the stimulus but he is also eligible for more than that because he has been ordered to not work. Does that make sense?
