    You're pretty much the best online teacher I've found that clearly explains guitar scales. I even had a basic understanding of theory before learning guitar but so many teachers make it so confusing with information overload. Do you know the KZreadr Andrew Furmaczyk he has a series on music theory. I’ve spent months trying to figure out the circle of fifths and how it connects to the fret board. I started with him but since it’s not tailored for guitar it was only abstract these lessons have really opened my eyes on the fret board. Thank you. If you don’t know Andrew I suggest looking him up his videos are amazing

    Hi there is it possible to please make a video to explain or show how and which acale to use for which chord especially jazz chords? Thanks im not sure on which chords one can use these pentatonic on. Also what happens if you play a minor backing track but the chords changes do you still remain in the aminor chord

  • @Samjamguitar

    @Samjamguitar

    Жыл бұрын

    To begin with I would encourage you to get to grips with playing the pentatonic scales over an entire backing track for example A minor pentatonic would work over all the chords in an Aminor backing track regardless of the chord changes (all the notes in the scale would work over every chord with no changes needed). once you have fully understood this concept and can play fairly effortlessly in any given key using pentatonics I would then suggest watching my video on arpeggios kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKyk0JSplpPglps.html this is a much different approach where by you would be playing a different arpeggio over every chord thereby highlighting each chords target notes... as you can imagine this approach is far harder to begin with but is essential in your playing eventually. definitely start with simply playing pentatonics over an entire key to begin with!

    Do you always have to use the right fingers when doing the scale? For example, when the scale says 2, do you always have to use the middle finger to fret those notes? I see that when you play the scale you are using 1 and 3, not 2 and 4, 1 & 4, etc..

  • @Samjamguitar

    @Samjamguitar

    Жыл бұрын

    You can change fingerings as much as you like while improvising👌 it simply depends on what makes most sense based upon where you have come from in the 5 positions and also which techniques you are using.

    Just one question..... im half way through your lesson plan for minor/major. Where do you recommend i learn next to build on what im learning. Just in case you get to famous to famous to answer my one on one question later on, 😉 Thanks!

  • @Samjamguitar

    @Samjamguitar

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hello again! I would first definitely take the time to simply consolidate what you already have! For example if you now know the 5 positions of major and minor pentatonic then take as much time as you need to improvise over backing tracks in both major and minor keys until you can confidently solo in either without getting lost across the Fretboard 👍 the next step after this would be to look at my 5 part series on the BLUES SCALE and introduce this into your playing. Meanwhile you could also pick anything from my ALL THINGS GUITAR AND MUSIC THEORY PLAYLIST and start taking on any one of the subjects at your own pace (every video is 100% relevant) hope this answer helps but don't hesitate to ask more questions in future 👌 (very little chance of me and my channel getting famous)
