Finally someone who actually takes their time showing you how to do something simple for those of us who are a little intimidated by something new. I appreciate this video so much. Subscribed!

i realize I am quite randomly asking but do anyone know a good place to stream newly released tv shows online ?
First video that shows how to do this properly. Thanks a lot.
Holy crap dude THANKS!!! I've tried four different channels on splitting an STL, all claiming to be easy! Ha! You nailed it! Easy and fast! I've been trying to 3d print a third edition Talisman board game add on for weeks! I've had the game for 25 years and the dragon add-on has been out of print for years and goes for hundreds on eBay. But i found someone who gave me the stl files. They're larger then my printer and because of you i can now print the last add-on that has eluded me for years. Thank you!!!
You are my new favorite channel! I've finally found someone to help me out with the basic questions but also sometimes a little complex too!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! This was an excellent tutorial! One of the best and most concise I have seen in a while.
Thanks! Tried to learn how to cut stl's in Meshmixer in the past but could't understand how to do it. After watching your video I realise how easy it really was🇸🇪
Nice turtorial Santube 3D! One thing I'd like to add is, and this is just me but, I personally always try not to "throw away" those little extra pieces that are generated when slicing. Instead, I combine them back with the object they came off of. If you can see it or find it, click on the little piece in the object browser, then click on the little magnet icon in the object browser to make the little piece the "target" and it should highlight onscreen so you can see it. Next, combine that piece with whatever object it was sliced off of. First, turn off target mode for the little piece(click the magnet icon again), then select the piece in the object browser, then ctrl click on windows or command click on mac the object that it was sliced off of in the object browser. You should now have both objects selected in the object browser and on your screen. From there choose "combine" from the window that will pop up on the top left of your screen after selecting both objects. *NOTE: If you select both objects and the window pops up on the top left of your screen but you do not see the "combine" option, make sure that both objects are visible by clicking the little eye-con(I couldn't resist) to the right of each object in the object browser.* This should successfully merge both objects into one. You want to do this anytime you slice and have an extra little piece show up because if you just throw it away, your taking the chance on having an object with weird artifacts such as an incomplete mesh or non-planar polys. This of course can mess things up for you down the line. Yes, when slicing the program "should" recreate the mesh and close it up where the little piece was sliced off but it may do so in an odd way that leaves you with a small area of the object that is different than the rest. This is not mandatory to do and is just my $0.02 from working in the CGI field for some 20 years. Software doesn't always work as it should as I'm sure you all know. Again, good job on the tutorial!
Great tutorial. Just started learning about 3D printing and this helped a ton. Thanks!
This is the only good video I found on the subject after 2 hours of looking through crap. Thank you very much!
Fantastic video! I've been looking everywhere for this information. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything in detail.

Thank you.
Thank you. I have been trying to figure out how do a similar function in Blender with no luck. Using meshmixer was dead easy.
Good Job .I tinker with Netfab for simple straight cuts,Will check out Meshmixer for cutting around things.
Seriously man, so helpful!!! Watched quite a few vids but no one broke it down like that. I think when People are doing anything for a long time they skip over some steps they think are obvious. Changing the printer for example. Thanks so much! Subscribed!

Thanks for this vid it really helps out. I have Meshmixer and had totally forgotten how to cut the models since I'm planning on printing a pretty big one on my CR-10.

Liked video! I'm totally new to using meshmixer and am using your videos to learn it. Please do a video on creating your own models from scratch using the basic shapes like a rectangle and putting print and indentions on it.
1000 thank to you man. This made it so simple. I know the vid is a few years old but def helpful
Sweet, this is exactly what I needed to learn

Awesome video. Im printing spines from computed tomography and couldnt find how to cut theme easily
This is perfect...I found a great Stormtrooper helmet, but it was one file, and too big for my E3 Max. If I could like this vid twice, I would!
Excellent thanks!

Thank you very helpful
Now can u do a video about piecing models together to print it in one go instead of gluing later? Like putting an arm from one model onto another?
Good Job, Thanks I was wondering how to do that
Create video! I cant wait to try it
THANK YOU!!!!!!
great info. Is it possible to copy and past objects - example copy a raspberry PI symbol on one side to the other side of a case - the PI symbol has holes and depth for a speaker and would want to copy it and paste on a spot that's is solid. Thanks
awesome thanks for the info. I see real big things in my future now lol. You do know you can center it and drop it on the table in meshmixer with align right?
@SANTUBE

Yup, I didn't go into to detail because I have a meshmixer basics that goes over that part.
Thanks for this video. Easy to understand for noobs. BTW can you cut it in a way that when you assemble them, it will line up in a certain position?

Thank you! Do you have a video where you go step by step how to make pegs and holes at the exact same height of each other. I can't find a proper one that has all the steps slowly and clear for me to learn as a newbie.

Any chance you could create a tutorial on how to create parts that would allow you to snap these separate pieces together? Like a peg or something like that?
@briandicinti9535
3 жыл бұрын
I would like too or how create a lip where one piece can slide over the other for things that come apart like helmet.
is there a way to slice the object vertically but even on both sides? say you just want the head and mid section. cut horizontally in the mid section but how can you cut vertically on both sides accurately?
Are you supposed to make the model solid before plane cutting? Asking cause everytime I cut the model it distorts.
Is there a way to unselect a portion you selected for cutting?
hi Why did I cut and slice my model into pieces with Meshmixer and then put the pieces together vertically in Cura, there were approximately 24 pieces that I was able to prepare for printing in 3 times in Cura, i.e. in 3 stl files, my problem is that I printed the first layer It is printed like a net, which means that it is not like my other prints that the first layer is correct, clean and smooth, what is the problem? I have adjusted my models from left to right and horizontal to vertical to fit more in Cura
Hi, there I have an issue that once I import the stl I can only view the printer cage once clicked print and then when click modify it discards the position changes...
thanks!

thanks
Where do u get the models from
Will these sliced models once done in mesh mixer be at the correct scale in chitubox so I can print on elgoo Mars?
@SANTUBE
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, you export them at the scale you want.
Wait I have to put my "printer software path" how do I do that??
i wanted to print Tifa Lockhart that I found in thingiverse, I am new to meshmixer and I sorta encounter a problem as soon I plant to cut it in at least half... I press separate shells after plane cut.... what it gave has tons of list of STL files when I only needed 2 STLs because i cut it into half. can you help me with this? because meshmixer still confuses me
@TheRevKing2
4 жыл бұрын
You have to select all the parts (shells) and combine kzread.info/dash/bejne/pHWluc2HaJjAfNI.html
Ok. Plane cut is easy and OK for architecture. But what about cutting along natural contours, which makes much more sense for organic structures?
@SANTUBE
3 жыл бұрын
I can explain it to you but I would have to make another video on it because its not something I can just type out, I would have to show you. So let me see what I can do.
how do i put a shell on bed after cutting??
Does anyone know how to get the PRINT BED part of Meshmixer to center on the screen, I keep importing files, it brings the file in like 7 thousand feet away from the Print Bed Diagram, and I have to zoom out to even see the print bed part but everytime I Zoom back in after moving the file to the print bed area, The Print bed area will not center to the middle of the screen. It keeps going off to the left and out of View.
How do you add peggs so it locks into place????
Can you show the opposite now. I purchase an STL file that is non manifold and has like 500 shells and I would like to know how to make it solid
@SANTUBE
4 жыл бұрын
Thats hard because you would have to place the parts next to each other perfectly but if you did manage to do that then there is a feature called make sold which takes all the pieces and makes it one whole.
fucking useful,thanks bro,suscribed

Do you know how to inside scale for helmet on meshmixer. Im on mac so the nab app don't work for me. thanx
@SANTUBE

same as in the video only difference would be that you need to uncheck uniform scaling and enter the dimensions of the helmet for x,y and z manually.
