I used to sketch all the time, but life got busy and I moved away from it with the aim to develop my art closer to my retirement. I have been trying to get back into art, but I skipped the sketching and went straight to the paints. This video has inspired me to pull out the paper and pencils again and get sketching, it was so relaxing and rewarding when I used to do it, I find my painting can be frustrating when I do not achieve what I set out for. This could be because I aim too high, but that's me. Thank you

I came across your channel as it was in my KZread feed, so I said “Why not?” I had low expectations as I have watched MANY “Drawing for Beginners” videos and been disappointed time and again. In the very first video I felt that something was different and I came away with something I did not know that helped me immediately. At this point I should say that I am an old retired woman that has always desired to draw and done the best that I could. BUT I am more left brain than right. Computer programming and creative arts don’t always mix. I always believed that artists saw the world differently but no one could ever tell me how and as I watched your videos, you explained it exactly as I needed to hear it (or see it)! So I have a direction to go now with the understanding of what I need - knowledge & practice - with an excellent instructor. Thank you for your method of teaching and reinforcement. I might learn before I die, lol!

This old Grandma is just now beginning, and I am having a blast with your instruction. You give me hope that I just may be able one day to draw whatever I see.

Aww..Thank you very much Matt..I used to draw pretty much yrs ago when the kids were little..Now my daughter has gotten me back into it..and it does make a big difference if we don't stay in it..I myself have loss alot in memory but,it's coming back slowly but surely..thank you for this..I loved drawing with you all today! It's been very helpful and much fun..

This is the best art video I have seen. A really life like piece of art with just a pencil, paper and reference photo. Oh and don’t forget the skills. I wanna go there.

Thank u for explanation of establishing the initial shapes first - the outline, the cone inside. I was starting my rose sketches incorrectly… made it more difficult. Im straightened out now as roses have been a difficulty for me. Ill go to your site ..
