How to Size a Folded Link Bracelet - Watch and Learn #16

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In today's video, we finish up our 3 part series on sizing watch bracelets. We will tackle the folded link bracelet that is popular on so many Seiko 5's, Orient 3-stars, and in general most lower cost bracelet watches.
With just a bit of know how and some simple tools you probably already have, you can save a trip to the jewelry store, save a few bucks, and make simple bracelet adjustments on your own.
We recommend this tool kit for all simple repairs: www.longislandwatch.com/Watch...

Tremendous help, was fitting two watches for myself, with no problem. When I was asked to help my mom with hers figured it was going to be a no brainer, little did I know...Luckily I found your video to guide me, then it went out without a hitch. Thank you!

Mark that is a really good video. Sharp close-ups, the right pace, and I like your style and delivery. Realistic and practical. But I agree they are awful things to do particularly the smaller ladies sizes. Hey but they are a nice strap to wear. Easy to put on, strong, and I find them reliable once you have them sized. Thank for this.

Thanks so much Long Island Watch for this video! Specifically Showing how to make adjustments using the everyday small tools found in the home and not requiring professional tools to execute was the "HOW TO" I needed. You saved me the time and hassle bringing two watches down to my local jeweler for the adjustments and instead I was able to easily resize both myself! .... Wouldn't have been able to do without your video. Many Many thanks!

It’s currently 2021 and this video is 4 years old and it still helped me resize my newly bought watch today. This is my first watch with T bar links rather than pins. Very helpful video, the last video I watched mentioned I needed to use pliers to push out the T bar links, but watching this video using just a screwdriver tool saved me money from visiting a watch store to assist with the resizing process. Thank you very much for the video, found that sizing the T bar links to be much easier than the traditional pins in terms of removal and installation.

I have very small hands and wrists and most of my metal watches had to be adjusted. Followed your advice I removed first link. Hi Mark, many thanks for posting this. I got a new watch with folding links and I didn’t have a clue how to size it. I found your video after Googling how to size my watch band. I didn’t even know that it was called a folding links watch band, but after watching your video I successfully removed 3 links from my watch. The only thing was, it took me ages to fit the spring bar to reattach the clasp, it kept falling through and then I was struggling to push it down so I could fit the upper part of the spring bar into the hole in the clasp. What a nightmare!!! I did eventually succeed, though. Many thanks for your help, I couldn’t have done any of it without your video.

Just like your watch reviews, you make everything simple & easy! I bought an Alba chronograph recently from Japan in amazing condition. When trying it on found it was just a link short. I contacted the guy but unfortunately he didn’t have an6 spare links. As it turned out I did want another anyway. I made sure this had an extra link. It arrived just now. So after your vid I just popped one off one watch & added it to the other. Now they both fit perfectly! 👍🏼

Hallo Mark, thanks for your instructions. I agree that these bracelets and links can be a complete nightmare. In your video you work with new watches and bracelets. For people like me however, we buy most of our watches pre owned or do some work for a friend. Taking out links from a pre owned bracelet is the real challenge. I have learned the hard way that it is wise to take of the bracelet if you want spare it. Clean it up real good, If the links are full of dirt you will damage it. If it is clean, your chances of success are much better. I enjoyed your video's a lot. You show exactly what we hobbyist need to know. Greetings from Holland Europe.

I was seriously considering returning the watch I just bought back to the damn store because I could not figure out how to size the damn band. I went through numerous KZread videos trying to find one that would show me how to size this very particular band and I finally FINALLY landed on this video. Never in my wildest dream did I think this was how you size a folding watchband. I would have never figured out how to do it on my own. And yes sure I could have took it somewhere and paid someone to do it but the watch I bought was $18 and trying to be cheap I didnt want to invest any more into it. Hence my wanting to figure out how to change the band myself. Thank you kind sir for posting this very helpful video. You made my day by saving me money and a trip to my local department store to have it sized. Bless you.

Wow, thanks for this. Once I watched the video it only takes a minute to remove links and get the watch to the right size. I prefer these links now 😁 so quick!

Just purchased a NOS Seiko looked just like model we had already owned for literally more than a decade. The same only different. When I went to adjust the band and remove links I opened the band up and looked for a bit saying "Ok now this sure isn't anything that I'm used to?" A couple minutes of viewing your video turned what could have been a major frustration into a really quick and simple task Thank you

I just removed 2 links from my dads new watch after searching for the right video. This was a lifesaver to me since my dad has Alzheimers and it’s difficult getting him out of the house. THANK YOU from over here in Jersey!!

Thanks Mark. I recently passed my watch obsession to my son. He purchased a Seiko 5 that was as close as he could get to a GS Snowflake. I couldn’t figure out how to size his bracelet for him, as I don’t own anything with this type of bracelet. I enjoy your videos with TGV, so it was nice to get advice from a familiar face.

Very informative. Thank you! I just got a Seiko 5 7S26C and it was 2 links too big. I noticed the arrows and realized there had to be some info on how to adjust it. Found yours and it was what I needed!

That was very competently performed and honest. Thanks. I have my wife's Rotary here with a similar method but the tool required is so fine. Although I removed some links a few years ago I have almost totally forgotten how I did it. With all the force required you need to be confident that you have it correctly applied. Thanks a lot. I was told that my folded Linked bracelet was impossible to adapt, and just yesterday I search for videos to adapt them. Thank to you, I could do it at home without spending so much money.
