    The fact that you can literally sound like you’re screaming, but not hurt your voice is amazing. My older brother is the front man in a rock band and he is taking your course and he’s SO shocked at the improvement in his voice. He is discovering how to fix all the problems he’s ever had with his voice. He loves your course! You’re doing amazing things man!

    I'm female but I don't want to sound all pretty and girly, I want to be able to sing more aggressively and quite low/masculine like a Nine Inch Nails/Rob Zombie/Marilyn Manson sort of style. How do I do it?

  • @kentamplin

    @kentamplin

    6 жыл бұрын

    Steph, You spend a long time developing a strong chest voice, and learning diaphragmatic support, and eventually glottal compression. Many females do not have a well-developed chest voice, and this may even be true in their speaking voices. Developing your chest voice will help you to grow and strengthen your voice. My course is obviously something I would recommend for you to build the foundation for that voice, and then to continue developing it. That instruction is part of what we cover for those who want it, both in the course, and in the student areas of my singers forums, which provide interactive help for you in getting the most out of your course. Most vocal trainings, whether classical, university, local yokel vocal coach, or otherwise, train you to go right into your head voice. That won't cut it. KenTamplinVocalAcademy.com/

    It fascinates me that many claim to teach they understand the voice without displaying any legit, album worthy vocals. It's all talk, smoke and mirrors. Then again it's like a weight loss pill. Many would rather believe there is a pill out there that will make them skinny rather than diet and exercise. (or a few tips that will make them great) It just doesn't work that way... :-)

    It took me 20 years to finally figure this out. I always knew there was a ‘proper’ quieter scream but always thought it was related to vocal fry. This is similar but uses the upper cords so you can squeeze like bloody murder but totally without irritation. I’ve only been doing it for two days but it’s so cool. I’m not a vocal teacher or selling vocal training - I’m just excited!

    Thnx Ken, I actually learned how to sing by myself because of watching your youtube videos. I just had to look at the techniques you and your students are doing, but I had one strange problem, the way I sung lyrics from the songs. It was a bit off, but once I watched one of your tutorials with the exercise "La" going up the scale, I cracked the code and now my voice is perfect, thanks Ken! :)

    I love you Ken for such simple thing about distortion.Who would ever thunk that making the tongue in that specific position can do so much? It really works and does not make any pain :) I can add it at any tone and it still works good :) Using that at my lover range without missing twang or just clarity is very important :)

    There are a few clips of Michael's "true" speaking voice where he speaks in a more full chesty raspy voice as opposed to his usual falsetto, one that comes to mind is when walking through a simulated grocery store filled with family members and friends dressed as shoppers so Michael could feel what it was like to shop at a store without being hoarded by fans. At checkout he picks up something up and makes a joke to someone there and you can hear a deep, almost froggy tone slip out

    It’s possible for everyone as I have debunked that theory. I told myself the same exact thing for 7 years but then I was able to sing with rasp and eventually do metal screams. It’s all about time and commitment. Actually, babies have raspy voices because of their first screams and cries when being born. That means every single person can indeed do it.

    One of the best pieces of advice a person can get when attempting to sing is not to be self conscious of the faces they make and how they look. I noticed a lot of people who sing really low without hardly any expression on their face is people who just are afraid they will look funny so they try to minimize how much they move their face. Embarrassment is a beginning singers worst enemy.

    evilcowboy- I wonder if that's how Buckethead started his shtick. You're correct. If you're going to worry about criticism you've got no business being a performer. Somebody, somewhere will say something hateful. People are fun!! :p
