Beautiful new home! Enjoy Arizona! I pretty much have a similar banking setup. I put my credit cards on auto-pay, and I agree it’s good to leave a couple thousand dollars in checking to auto-pay those balances.

I have a 2 joint checking, 1 joint savings, and 2 personal accounts. wage hits first bank account, bills come out of the second, and sinking funds go into joint savings. Any money left over gets split into our personal accounts to be spent/saved however we please.

I keep syncing funds and emergency funds out of my main checking account and in different savings accounts with another bank. Too hard to keep track of in one account for me.

What do you allow yourself to put in your wallet? Husband? I never see this mentioned in any budget scenarios?, weekly, monthly?

We do it pretty similar to your method but for sinking funds, we just opened a free savings account with the same bank that we have our joint chequing account so we won’t accidentally spend it 😂😂

Why not open a checking account with your hys account? That way if you need your emergency funds right away you can just transfer to your checking immediately and use as needed Not having to wait days for your money.

Most high yield savings accounts are with banks that do not have physical branches so you can not walk into a bank and withdraw money. Even though I am not getting the highest rates. I have online high yield savings accounts with both American Express and Capital One both currently 4.35% APY I can make payments from both credit cards right straight from each savings accounts. Also Capitol One has a limited branch and cafe network. The nearest Capitol One Cafe to me is 15 miles away at a local mall.
