PRIVATE LESSONS: / services
Ever since Daft Punk invented sidechain compression twenty years ago, producers all around the world have asked themselves the same basic question: where do we go from here? Well, today, I have the answer.

I kind of feel like a sidechain compressor when I’m getting it on. I even talk about sidechaining while doing it.

You make these videos so easy to understand and fucking hilarious at the same time. KEEP IT UP !!!
Thank you for not making a video that’s 11 and a half minutes for such a simple topic. As someone new to ableton looking for quick basic tutorials it’s much appreciated
The thumbnail tho 😂😂
Bro, this silly yet straight to the point video completely answered so many questions so quickly, was stuck at the direction I was going with this song and just literally browsed up sidechaining as its something I never deeply touched on. And bang, now all my shitty 3/4 track beats have actual groovy dynamics and shit lmao, thanks bro, all in 4 minutes too, you're a legend
Dad of 2018
Hands down the best tutorial/ information channel I’ve ever subbed to. Not only a great explanation but before and after sounds to help you hear what’s going on. Simple but perfect for people like me. Can’t wait to apply this to my music. I knew of it. But don’t use it enough to get the kicks to come through in a lot of my tracks. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
You SIR, are the best at addressing these basic but, yet so important concepts within dance music production. Your style keeps the viewer engaged and wanting more!!! Love learning from your videos
Jokes aside, these tutorials are really good, I'm learning a lot from these vid- *HOLY COCK*

Can’t thank you enough for this video 👏🏻 keep up the work man, you’re literally inspiring the next generation of music

Hi! Just found this video. Your style, narration and videos are awesome and hilarious in a good way. I absolutely love specific peculiar level of sarcasm and "seriousness" to the whole thing 😀 Especially after the fact that video is actually good source of practical information. Keep up the good work!

Wow, this was a super helpful video! So to the point, no fluffing about with unnecessary shit, just clear examples, fast and humorous explanations! Thanks for being awesome!
this channel always give me a smile after a long day thanks
Actually, the Mutator filter who was heavily used by Daft Punk, had a Sidechain Input that was use extensively.
The reason behind what daft punk did in that year is a brilliant idea. They create a link between most of the instruments in the song. It's totally different than creating a stable surrounding. They did it almost all of their songs.
That was enthralling. Thank you for keeping it 2018 kind sir.
Thanks, the stock plugins seem daunting but you make them seem simple.
omg i love this guy... this is the channel i never knew i needed 😂
this was awesome, concise and quick. just perfect
This tutorial is really easy to digest.. thanks Underbelly
"Daft Punk invented side chain compression in the 90's producers around the globe have been asking themselves the same basic question..." I'm pretty sure you meant... Around the World.

Just discover your channel. Oh my gosh, I love the way you share your ableton skill. U are a good person, very rare. Love from south of France and go ahead Buddy, cause at last I found the perfect way to learn.
Dont know if anyone's going to pick this up, but this same effect of gating to let a synth through is exactly what Flume/EPROM did on "Spring" on Flume's new mixtape
Every time I learn something new, thanks

Yeah the gate has been used forever. Kiss by Prince used it on the skittery "synth" (which was actually an all open string guitar). It was used in genres like freestyle...Little Suzy "Take Me In Your Arms". Also....another use of sidechain I have used is recording a bass line and getting only the low to mid low frequencies, and record another bass line with more higher frequencies (slap/pop or wah) and sidechain the low frequency bass to the high frequency. Good stuff tho. Love you
Great stuff homeslice...
TNice tutorials was an amazing video! you really Nice tutorialt all the key points for the basics without ever over complicating anytNice tutorialng. A hard job and you did
