How To | Shift to Four Wheel Drive (4WD) on 2020 Lincoln Navigator 4x4 with Jonathan Sewell Sells

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I wanted to share this short How to video about the Lincoln Navigator Drive Modes that include the 4WD operation. It's very simple and convenient to just turn the dial and choose your terrain or wanted computer enhancements and drive.
It doesn't require much thought or know how. The Drive modes are Normal which is 4x2 and offers use of the AdvanceTrac assistance. Conserve is designed to be the most efficient on fuel, so it is 4x2 only. Excite is designed to be the least efficient on fuel, but the most on-demand power. The Excite mode is 4x4 Automatic, so you can have the power and engage 4H depending on traction needs. Three additional drive modes designed for best traction on this 4x4 model are Normal 4x4 Auto, Slippery and Deep Conditions. Normal 4x4 Auto is self-explanatory. It uses normal transmission shifting and engage 4WD as needed. Slippery is mostly for soft terrain like snow and sand that will allow the most slippage or high revolutions. Slippery is another 4x4 Automatic setting. The Deep Conditions is designed for thicker areas like mud that that require fewer revolutions of the wheels and more traction assistance. It is the only drive mode that is only 4WD. So it will shift from 4H to 4L, but it is not RWD at all.
Let me know if this helps and if you've experienced any conditions that specific drive modes help more than others.

I like this guy, but he does not know this car very well and is providing disinformation. This is a Navigator Reserve. This particular one has a one-speed transfer case, not a two-speed. This means the SUV does have 4wd (Auto) and 4wd (high - which is your typical part-time 4wd system), but it does not have 4wd low (a two-speed transfer case). If this were the Black Label trim or the Reserve trim WITH the heavy duty trailer towing package, then it comes with a two-speed transfer case (meaning it would give you the additional option of 4wd (low). If this were a Navigator with a two-speed transfer case (4wd low), it would have an additional drive mode called "Slow Climb". If you put the suv into "Slow Climb" it would prompt you to shift into neutral, and then it would shift into 4wd low (only good for slow speeds). On this particular Navigator, you only have two 4wd options: 4wd Auto and 4wd High, which for most people is more than they will ever need. 4wd low is more for rock crawling than anything else (which this vehicle is NOT a good rock crawler nor was it designed to be). Back when 4wd vehicles had 175 horsepower and 210 ft. lbs of torque, you needed 4wd low, as without it, you could find yourself not having enough torque to pull the vehicle up a very steep incline or to pull a heavy boat up a slippery boat ramp. However, as this vehicle has 450hp and 510 ft. lbs. of torque (thanks to the 10 speed transmission), few people will ever miss not having 4wd low. I actually own a 2019 Navigator

Thank you for sharing and correcting me. I did not know that some did not have 4 Low as I thought deep conditions would be for low 4WD. I would think that in some cases with the weight of the vehicle you would need a 4 Low if you had your vehicle in heavy muddy or sandy areas. Of course not many people would probably have their Navigator in those conditions.

Does the car have to be in park to make these adjustments in drive mode or can you do it while you're driving down the street
