How to Sharpen and Reuse Your Razor Blades for Years

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to Sharpen and Reuse Your Razor Blades for Years. This will sharpen your multi-blade razor and save you money. This shaving tip will make your razor blade last much longer than expected. I have been using the same razor blade for months. Get a clean shave by resharpening your disposable razor blade by running it backwards on blue jeans or any other material that is similar.

I'm surprised more people don't clean their blades, I mean if you never bothered washing kitchen knives, they'd soon become useless after a few goes.

Ive been using my same blade for 3 solid years now, and it cuts perfect, I dont even do this though, I just blow on it a few times, I think the trick is to just take off the excess water which dulls the blade, because hairs cannot do damage to Stainless Steel, also once a year I put it in alcohol to kill the bacteria.

You are right. It is the water that dulls the blade.

Thats an interesting point.i thought thst saws were made of stainless steel n they get dull but then again, they are going up against hard material.but how does water dull the razor?

@@manuelalmendarez2232 Well water corrodes metal over time, that's why when you put water on metal it starts to quickly rust. If you Google it you will get more of a scientific break down, something about oxygen I think.

Yes, it actually works even better because there is more blade exposed to be sharpened. Thank you for asking.

Yes. My razor blades used to only last about 10 days. By drying them off that last more than a month or more.

@@richardtaylor9871 Double Edge, aka safety razor. You can sharpen those blades using a glass and get weeks or months out a .25¢ blade. Smoother shaves, less irritation. Baby bottom smooth shaves. What are you still using those cartridges for?

@@user-rp5xh1ob7h I have thought about those. Will give them a try when I run out of the cartridges. How do you sharpen them on a glass, and what brand do you recommend. Thanks

@@richardtaylor9871 start watching shaving videos on KZread . There are hundreds and hundreds of brands and sharpness levels with the blades. One that works for me will not work for you, it's very subjective. I have been shaving with DE for over 3 years now and can use really sharp blades. It can be cheaper than cartridges unless you really get into as a hobby. I have 6 different razors, dozens of aftershaves and balms ,50 different soaps and 100 different by blades to try with 12 favorites i rotate thru. All told I have spent thousands of dollars on product and razors over the last few years. I have turned a chore into a pleasurable experience. Start by watching these 3 people's videos: Geofatboy at shavenation, kensurfs videos and Matt at Razor Emporium. There are a lot of others I have watched. Hundreds over the last few years. You learn a lot than they get boring! I mostly use adjustable razors, Gillette blades, tallow based soaps, horse hair brushes and old fashioned, traditional scent aftershaves. Have fun! I like what Geofatboy says: "Have a great shave, have a great day!".

Yeah, but for me carbon steel blades are more suitable for being sharpened than regular stainless steel blades, but they lose softness in their edges.
