So did I! Haha! Knife sharpening was once my least favorite task. After working with Ruben for a while it is definitely more enjoyable.

The Fallkniven stones are awesome. I enjoyed your "how to" a lot. With the DC4 and the CC4 one covers medium, fine and extra fine grit. Although you don't want to let your knife go so far that you need a coarse stone out in the field...what would you recommed? A coarse diamond stone would work eventually. For me one con would be the different size. Fallknivens 4'' stones seem to be broader than the average 4'' (x 1'') stone.

I would just recommend the fallkniven stones. The dc4 has the diamond side and I’ve reprofiled edges just using that. So really you don’t need the course stone. Course stones to me is putting an edge on piece stock metal. It’s all about maintaining the edge. But if I had to reprofile my edge that extreme I would use a natural stone from a creek. You see when I teach this class I emphasize that the skill can be used with primitive means like sandstone or rocks from a creek. I hope this helps! Thanks for the question my friend.

@@Ruben_TSU_Instructor Thanks for your answer. I like both stones. What I don't like is that the fine ceramic is doubled. Four sides but only three "grits" (vitrified ceramics are not rated with a specific grit). Fallkniven has a Folding Sharpener (FDD, similar to EZE-LAP or DMT) with coarse and fine (same as DC4) diamond. Surface is only 2cm wide, much smaller than both stones. CC4 and FDD would give you 4 grits, from coarse to extra fine. What a pity they made this small plastic sharpener instead of a double-sided diamond stone the size of both DC4 and CC4. I agree: Taking care of your knives one should not need a coarse grit in the field. I would like to have one, just to be prepared (in omnia paratus).
