Thanks for sharing this Chuck! It took me a couple attempts, but after following your instructions exactly, I was able to turn SAFE on and off with a switch.

Encouraging, I feel like such an idiot I can't get it to work.

I totalled my Valiant in a Dive. The Field was littles with Foam pieces! 😁

hy Chuck, my name is Serge i live in Belgium. I bought the e-flite valiant and i was strugling for three days with setting up the safety mode, it wasn't explained properly in the manuel but thanks to your video i was able to setup the safety mode. thanks

I don't need it but wanted to try it out on another plane that had it but could never get it to work. This helps a lot and I may try again. Thanks for the great video sir.

Thanks Chuck you are a life saver, reading the manual, I could not get the Safe switch to work, and actually started to think I had a faulty receiver. These guys at Eflite should get there act together, these planes are not cheap so get your manuals right. Also the DR and Expo setup in the manual is crap for my TX a Spectrum 7S Seeing my Hobbyshop has closed down I cannot get advies there anymore

Thank you so much. I was having so much trouble assigning a switch for SAFE on my new Timber. Nothing would work. When I saw you assign a switch in system setup a light bulb went off in my brain and it all came together. I would consider myself an advanced beginner and I like being able to turn SAFE off while flying and on when landing. It just helps me safely land my planes I work so hard at buying and if I can use today's technology to bring them back down safely why not use it. Anyway great video.

Thank you for the information. I'm planning on getting a valiant for my 2nd plane and I will need safe as well as learning how to set up the transmitter that I don't have yet. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.

Hi chuck great vid I’ve just bound mine and forgot to assign switch on transmitter and did the toggle five times bit my god it worked without assigning channel on dx9 don’t know what happened but it worked keep up the good work

Ok, then how do you set up the flap speed and adjusting the 3% & 5% so the nose stays down when you select the flaps

When you say power off on what ? Plane should be off? To assign the switch?

How do you set the flaps up with a delay please?? Mine are istant on aux 1

Should be able to adjust them in the radios flap program. Have a look there they are the last option on the list on my DX9

SAFE is great with flying with camera

do you need more than a 6 channel radio to fly it?

I have followed your video as well as one horizon put out on the safe channel assign and it will not work. I can’t get the plane to accept the input. Any idea what I can do to get it to work

Hi Chuck, Can I use a dx6i with safe and AS3X and still operate flaps or landing gear. Or would I need a Dx6

Hi James sorry can't answer that one as i haven't a clue! At a guess i'd say no! but check with Horizon Hobby you never know? On another note time to update that old Dx6i they really are old and all the modern stuff from HH is made to run best on the new gen of Tx

James Bird yes you can with the dx6i I just used the gear switch and it worked perfect..

After inserting the bind plug and powering up the Rx, I then remove the plug , ...as doing it this way will give me the option to put SAFE on a switch.....but before binding I select a 2 position channel for assigning SAFE to ( on / off ) QUESTION: on a plane without flaps or retracts, I go to the Channel Assign page... then I should always change " gear " to AUX 2 and then change " AUX 2 " to inhibit........then go to next page and select " Gear " ....then pick a 2 position switch ( A ) and then perform the toggle process.......correct?......thanks

sorry Gary this plane was a long time ago and the past couple of years have been a blur with Corinne's cancer. So i have no idea! If you follow the video it tells you how to do it!...

I want to figure out if the gain or th amount of SAFE can be adjusted

Yes it can you need to purchase a dongle to do it...

Could I use my bind switch as my safe switch? In other words if I feel like I'm getting into trouble just pressing on my bind switch or button and that way I'm in safe mode?

No I would not think so. The bind button is dedicated mechanical button. It will do one thing, that is activate bind. It is not programmable.

What if I have flaps and retracts and only a 6 channel radio --- What do I do to assign a safe switch

At a guess when you started you didn't think you would ever need more than 6 channels like so many of us did! Now that you have advanced to flaps and retracts a 6 channel Tx will no longer do. I went to a 7 channel and soon learned as i was advancing in this hobby even 7 is not enough! Depending where you are hoping to go with your modeling i'd start saving for a DX8 or 9 that way you cover nearly all boxes for the future.....

@@ChuckTSeeker Chuck thanks for the video. I have a DX6 Radio. Are you saying SAFE will not work w/o a 7 Channel radio with my 6 Channel plane? I get the double waggle when I power on the craft. But moving the plane side to side etc..does not activate any of the control surfaces like your video shows. I dont know what I am doing wrong, and Horizon Hobby's support is worthless these days :(

Hi CP i don't own this plane and because it was a few years back i'm not sure on your question? I think you need a 3 way switch??? I'm sorry but I found this very unclear and very hard to follow. I still don't have safe assign to a switch and my flaps do not work at all and I have the exact same controller and airplane that Chuck's working with.

Gee you are the first person to say this?? Are you following and understanding each step? Everyone else got it done, even those that said it took a couple of times! Sorry i couldn't help you! But please try again and follow every step as set out!

If its an old DX6 it will not work as it has to be a newer radio...
