I don't have an XR 1000. The XR routers are end of life so I plan to make one last XR 500 series and then be done with the XR routers.

what about if im gaming on a pc? what would i set it to?

Great video! I have had the XR1000 for months now and it works perfectly. Except...I now can't access Device Manager. I am getting the message (paraphrased)"Waiting for the RAPP to load" when I select that part of the menu. However, it never loads and times out each time. I have tried rebooting, not resetting, and still no luck. It did work when I first purchased the router. I have done no mods to the default set-up and am using it plug-and-play. Can't call Netgear support because I have passed the 90-day free customer service and they want $169 to give any further advice going forward. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Try clearing browser cache and if that doesn't work factory reset and clear browser cache. If neither of those things work or you just want more help in general then head over to the NetDuma forums & they'll help you out. Forum.netduma.com

Thank you for the video, I do have a question. Within Geo filter and after I choose my Xbox series X, It gives a list of games that you can pick from. For some reason I no longer see GTA Online? In your video I can see GTA online but I don't have it on mine anymore? Any ideas?

It's possible that it was removed. However could be that you need to update your cloud. Click the drop-down menu and resync cloud. If it doesn't show up then it was removed. No worries you don't have to choose a game from the list you can just set it manually. Haven't played GTA online in a while but if memory serves correctly you can do some pretty cool stuff with the geofilter to get into public matches but essentially make them private so you can do missions with your friends and not be trolled.

Hey man, this video is awesome and helped me out with a lot of issues I was having. My question to you is, if it's just me on the internet is it even worth messing with the Congestion Control at all? Should I just leave it disabled all of the time?

Try both and see what feels better. Even when no one else is home I've noticed having congested control on tends to feel a bit better.

So, basically to get the latest and greatest firmware you need a R2? Netduma are the worst for FW for legacy routers, i mean I have an XR500 still yet to get the latest FW, how long has it been over 2, 3 years?

Correct the R2 will always have the latest and greatest. NetDuma unfortunately doesn't have much control over the XR routers. All these years NetDuma works on stuff passes along to Netgear and Netgear sits on it for months at a time. Netgear always slows down the process.

so the dumaos classfied games under qos on does not work for any games wired? why do i see dl/up packets if its wireless? is there a way to add other games thats not in the list?

Doesn't matter if you're wired or wireless it should work. Adding games can only be done by NetDuma. You can give them the information needed to add a game to the list via the forums.

If I'm using another router for my wifi signal would I keep the "allow ping" on or turn it off as you suggest? Thanks for the info and video.

Don't know if you could help but I have the Netgear Nighthawk XR1000 that has DumaOS. Im currently using 2 routers (Nighthawk and ISP in router mode) because i still live with family that like to use the ISP router wirelessly for their phones and TV. This is my current setup: ISP Router ->> NETGEAR Nighthawk ->> Xbox Series X Sometimes when i turn on my Xbox it says it detects a double NAT and sometimes it says its open (Its very inconsistent). Is there anyway to fix that with my current situation which makes my NAT type always open?

Put the Series X in Dmz on XR1000. Settings/ Wan / DMZ Then login to ISP combo turn off UPNP & Port forwarded 3074. Turn off XR then reboot combo. Once combo is fully back online turn on XR.

Hey Scott I have a question I have fiber internet 1000/1000 and when I try to adjust my sliders it feels so confusing like mind blowing headache wise lol so I just have one question my friend what should I adjust my sliders to I understand everybody’s connection is different but I just can’t do these tests my brotha I’ve tried many times and it’s time consuming and also kinda stressful when I do auto setup it just says 100/100 for both sliders I’ve ran 5-6 tests and it says the same

Your ISP cannot block your geofilter. There are a number of reasons there are a number of reasons you could be getting put in lobbies outside of the location that you set. Are you playing on console or PC and what game?

Most of us have moved away from the XR routers and grabbed an R2. However the R2 WiFi is a bit weak so we use the old XR router as an access point.

Why everytime im on wifi my router only picks up 70 mbps but when I’m on LAN it’s my full bandwidth help???

WiFi is always slower. Any interference can cause issues. 2.4g is slower but can reach farther. 5g is faster but doesn't reach far. To get the best out of both you'll need to find the best channel for where you live. You can do that my downloading a Wi-Fi analyzer to your phone.

My connection bench mark network speed say it’s incorrect setup but my ping test is an A+

Do I need to have duma replace my regular router or can I connect both to same line?

That is an old bug. Thought it was fixed. Make sure you're running the latest firmware. You could try clearing browser cache. If that fails you may need to do a full factory reset.

Damn, wish I could get to this page, i'm stuck on DumaOS is not running... Ive tried 30/30/30 and other methods. Pretty pissed off

Speed test and ping optimization not working

I have netgear modem-->>> r2 --> google nest ->>> 2x additional pucks around the house. My internet with this set up isnt horrible but i get lag on fifa playing on xbox. Google nest because the r2 connection in 2nd floor isnt always the best for long range. Should i remove my nest from this set up

@KindaBusted messaged them on twitter and got access. I ended following your settings and with personal tweaks for Qos control. I had +160 download 40 upload active and C score so bad. After tweaking my 800 speed to about 580 I got less than 0 download and +4 upload. Left it on auto enable I also used the zero ping assist and gave xbox priority didnt mess with qos wheel. Also portfoward 3074 for my xbox. My EA FC was phenomenal yesterday less lag and delay. Playin closest server to me it was noticeable difference having your guide to help. I never messed with the settings and now i even understand alot more of what things do what. Thank you

I did everything but on mw2 network still shows local area, was trying to get into a out of country

I think I get what you're saying. When logging into call of duty it will always show your local area. That's normal. Use the geofilter to find servers closer to you. With low ping. Then you'll have the better gameplay experience. You can also play out of country but you're going to have lots of lag.

Yes! If you've made custom rules you can turn it off. In my experience leaving it on is fine as well. Shouldn't cause any issues.

If it's a brand new router you'll need to go through initial setup which doesn't require sign in. If you've already set up the router then use the info you chose to sign in with. Don't try to set up the router through Wi-Fi! Once the router is all set up correctly you can use Wi-Fi to log into it but not for initial setup.

Both of my routers are in beta so I left out the initial setup as it is a little different than what others may have. If enough people really need it I will make a separate video. I'll keep an eye on likes 👍 for this comment.

You would be able to choose the server you want to play on depending on the game you play. If the game doesn't have a server you can set a radius for peer to peer play and only play people in your immediate area. It's a little early and haven't had coffee yet I hope that answers your question.

I bought the xr 1000. I still have to buy the software separately to use this?

I'm a little confused about exactly what you're asking. All you need to do is log into the router and all the features shown in the video are built in the router itself.

I have one and can’t get it too connect sometimes it connects but when you connect other devices other than your Xbox, it just knocks everything out load of rubbish. Good idea in theory though just doesn’t work

Its probably because your wheel is still taking from the remaining upload bandwith if you reduce it a little more that remaining bandwith thats available gets sent to the top priority devices or packets you choose

Could be. Honestly I've tried different things over the years and could never figure out exactly why it messes up but you definitely have a good theory. The new qos system you don't have to worry about any of that anyway. It's awesome 👍

Dumaos app stopped working so had to use the web browser but now I can’t even sign into that. I can’t play some games because I am stuck in strict mode

Copy pasting this to every Nighthawk X1000 video i find, i have 900mb down, 40 up. Dual PC setup. bought the router to prevent packet lost, using cat7 cables. I play valorant with a goal to Radaint, and content creation. I stream. upgraded from cat5 to cat6 to cat7, I still get horrfic packetloss 5-10+% sometimes 15-20%, bufferbloat ratings that change from A+ to B to D random days, ranging from 90,80,70,60,50,40 and 30% QOS settings in DumaOS at random intervals with download and upload, streming or not streaming. I have done every single network congig i could think of over 2 years of troubleshooting. Logically I am lost as to what I can try next. open to new solutions thanks.

Have u tried specifying the ip address from router to ur console. And maybe add v6 into ur dns? And again make it specific. If all fails id wire that mofo up to the router and see if thats still the case.
